FROM THE PRESBYTER’S DESK Dear beloved in Christ In the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I offer you warm greetings.

I am glad that through the TRUMPET, I am able to reach out, all the members of St.

Paul's Malayalam Parish, Pune at the same time. If you receive the Word as a treasure and hunger for discernment and earnestly seek

it as silver, then you will understand the fear of the Lord. Wisdom is a path to walk.

Wisdom is the ability to make correct judgment and decisions. It is an intangible quality

gained through the experience in life. The Bible says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he

should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given

to him.” (James 1:5 NIV) True wisdom will keep us from the path of sin that ruins us. Using it is essential for

receiving guidance in the path of righteousness and virtues. When God gave an

opportunity to King Solomon to ask for anything he desired to possess, he replied

“Give me wisdom and knowledge.” Though he might have had other needs but

'wisdom' was his priority. And Lord gave what his heart desired. All the resources

needed for getting success are through the wisdom of the Lord. Success is more than

making our lives comfortable, it means making our life that is worthy for Lord and

useful for others by helping them. Wisdom (that is Fear of Lord) is more important than

the riches and power, because it helps us to build for eternity. It makes us to love and

obey the Word of the Lord. We, as a family, consider it a great opportunity the Lord Almighty has given us to serve

St. Paul's Malayalam Parish, Pune. With all of your prayers and participation let's

together build up a Church for the glory of our mighty God. May the Almighty Lord bless us all. Yours in His Service, Christy Achen Presbyter-in-Charge Mob: 09822855276 E-mail: [email protected]

Because He Trusts in You

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he

trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the

Rock eternal. Isaiah 26:3-4.

A great Gospel counterpart and illustration of these two verses is recounted in

Mark 4:35-41. Jesus and his disciples were crossing a lake in a boat and were

caught in a furious storm. The boat was being swamped with water and

the disciples were frantic. But “Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion.”

There you have it: perfect peace. And for the disciples – perfectly destroyed

peace. “Teacher, don't you care if we drown?” You probably know the rest:

Jesus was soundly asleep because he trusted his Father's power.

How can anyone be calm when everything and everyone are unraveling?

Isaiah's explanation is “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is

steadfast, because he trusts in you. (Is 26:3). Trust is at once the easiest and

hardest thing to do. It's not complicated because even – or especially – children

get it. It is simply relinquishing your hold on things and letting God hold them.

He is holding them anyway! That's why not trusting God is so exhausting; it is our effort to control what can't be controlled. A little boy was trapped on the second floor of a house on fire. He stood at

the window, surrounded by smoke and flames, crying for help. He heard his

father's voice below, yelling for him to jump into his arms. “But I can't see

you Daddy,” the child cried. His father shouted back, “That's OK, I can see

you, so jump.” We walk by faith, not by sight, do we not? Beneath us are

the everlasting arms (see Deut. 13:27). We need not fear what we see,

because the one we cannot see has everything in control.

Prayer: Almighty God! You are the Rock eternal. You are the one worthy
