September 2013 THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF THE ARIZONA MG CLUB President, Buckey McChesney FROM THE DRIVER’S SEAT Hello everyone, I hope you survived the heat as well as I have. Summer is almost over. Schools are back in session. The routines begin again for students and families. Would you be interested in doing a car show at a high school on the west side and east side of town? We could have the auto mechanic students be the judges and have a spokes person from Hagerty Insurance go around as a judge helper for the high school students. Here is a way to get our cars visible and try and get younger people interested in our British cars. If our cars are not visible to the public, I think they will slowly forget about our LBC’s. Once the heat goes away, say under 90 degrees, won’t you join me at 67 th Ave and Bell Rd. for the impromptu car show Friday and Saturday evenings. I can do the one in Scottsdale if there will be more than two other MG’s attending. Call me so I know you are attending. 623 -979-4302 Speaking of car shows, GOF is in Carefree, AZ. That is 30 miles away, in our back yard so to speak. GOF means Gathering of Friends. This is the First time all MG’s have been invited. I will attend with my Magnette. So please attend if you can. The dates are: October 28 to Nov. 1 st . Activities each day. Don’t miss something this close. I am researching a tech session for our club. 3 MG’s have the same leak. It doesn’t look too hard but I’ll do my car first then do a tech session for those cars that leak in the rear. More info later on. A very warm Welcome to our new members listed in the newsletter. Hope to see you at the functions. More members mean more fun. We missed you at the annual pizza party. We had a nice fun time. If you have web experience, please contact Buckey. I have a couple of questions. Call me at 623-979-4302. Our September item will be a car museum and a drive to lunch. Please join us if you can. Drive whatever car you want to bring. Should be a fun morning. Buckey Highlights in This Issue …. Saturday Drive to with Lunch at

Meet outside the Fountain Hills Starbucks Saturday October 19 at 9:30AM Departure 10AM

The Starbucks is in the Target Plaza on the south side of Shea Blvd about 1 mile from Rte 87, the Beeline Hwy. Enter Plaza at either Technology Dr or Center La. There are gas stations on Shea nearby if needed. It is a beautiful 65 mile ride up the Beeline to the cool pines of Payson. I encourage you to drive and enjoy your MG, but do be sure it is in a good state of tune as there are some steep sections and we will climb to about 5000 ft altitude. Gerardo’s is on the left side of Rte 87 about a mile north of Rte 260 East. They will put tables together for us and serve tons of food family style, including salads, antipasto, wood oven flat-bread, baked pasta, chicken dish of the week, a surprise, sodas & tea and mini-canoli deserts. They can accommodate vegetarian, food allergy and gluten free requirements – just tell me! Wine & beer available.

RSVP as I need a head count! Payment at the meeting place, please, cash or check, $20 a head. [email protected] or 928-232-9633 (cell)
