Welcome to the August-October edition of the Gilt Edge newsletter. In the past few months we have been promoting to the commercial sector our Seamless Flooring Systems featured in our last newsletter. We have recently partnered with Eboss, the online product library providers and have been involved with them in a number of architect presentations to prominent architect practises in Auckland presenting these new Seamless Flooring Systems where we received great feedback and were able to advise them on speci�cations for a number of upcoming �ooring projects.

We also attended the BuildNZ trade show held at the Auckland ASB Showgrounds in July and presented our new Seamless Flooring System modules that exhibit the entire system for a number of top �oor coverings.

We have recently added to our website some new sections highlighting these Seamless Flooring Systems as well as a number of Case Studies and a new Product literature area where all our recently produced brochures are available to download. Check it out!

This Seamless Flooring System features a built-in waterproof membrane to prevent leaks and water damage at Middlemore Hospital’s new Acute Mental Health Unit.CHALLENGE: Designed by Klein Architects, the new Acute Mental Health Unit at Middlemore Hospital. Longevity was a key requirement for the design, and a key component of this future-proo�ng was the speci�cation of �ooring for ensuites and other wet areas. While vinyl has traditionally been the go-to for wet area �ooring and walls in hospitals, Klein Architects aimed to ensure the integrity of the interior structure beyond the vinyl by adding an extra layer of protection. SOLUTION: The chosen Seamless Flooring System includes a comprehen-sive build-up for concrete �oors — from primers, bulk �ll, mortar and waterproo�ng, right through to the adhesive for vinyl application. Key for the system’s durability is a �exible waterproof membrane layer, which is installed beneath the vinyl to provide a second line of defence from mois-ture ingress. The system comes with a single system warranty, ensuring peace of mind for both clients and architects.RESULT: The system was designed by Gilt Edge Industries Ltd. in response to issues where penetration of vinyl in wet areas had caused leaks, over time rotting out framing and a�ecting the structural integrity of the building. A BRANZ appraised waterproo�ng membrane sits under the vinyl and protects the vinyl breaks. It runs up the wall and around the �oor in the wet zone, to stop any ingress of moisture.Not only did Gilt Edge provide the full speci�cation for this project, but they also advised on installation, training vinyl �ooring installers on how to install the full waterproof system. This has been bene�cial for the clients, Counties Manukau Health, who have now requested the system be used in future.
