’Tis the Season for a PowerPro® Upgrade

Commercial-Grade Power Shopsmith’s PowerPro® Headstock

upgrade on the Mark V will give you more torque and speeds from

250 to 10,000 RPMs at forward or reverse. This is a professional grade machine that is simple enough for even the beginning woodworker to use.

Half the Investment – with Professional Results This versatile

space-saver includes seven state-of-the-art woodworking tools in one

machine. But you can buy a Shopsmith work unit for considerably less than the cost of the separate tools that it replaces.

Reduces Noise Smooth and quiet, even at 10,000 RPMs, the PowerPro® gives you the capacity and power of many of the more

expensive stand-alone machines, but our exclusive technology will keep the neighbors from complaining about the noise. PowerPro® has huge

bearings on both ends of the shaft and precisely machined wobble-free pulleys. From idle to top speed, this is one quiet machine!

Intelligently Designed The rock-solid functionality of Shopsmith products make them easy to set up and adjust. Switch from 120V to 240V by simply changing the plug at the end of your cord. The PowerPro® upgrade will save you thousands – you won’t have to pay for a commercial grade machine to get the same depths-of-cut, feed rates, and operating eiciencies of the pros.

Space Eicient The Shopsmith MARK 7 and Mark V with PowerPro®

upgrade can it into the corner of the smallest shed or work area. These machines are about the size of a bicycle, so one 15 AMP power outlet and a 12’ x 12’ space will turn your garage or basement into a woodworking or D-I-Y paradise.

Tough There’s absolutely nothing on the market with the reliability and longevity of the Shopsmith all-in-one woodworking machine. The PowerPro® uses intelligent adaptable power delivery to draw only the power it needs. You’ll save energy by eliminating power surges during start-up. You can run this machine all day and your spouse will never

complain about an electric bill spike!

Maintenance-Free The days of struggling with mechanical

adjustments are over. PowerPro® computerized speed control takes

care of it with the push of a keypad button. Sealed bearings eliminate any additional upkeep.

American-Made With hundreds of thousands of units sold, and many of them still in operation, it is clear that Shopsmith products provide durability that lasts. That’s because we still use only the best quality parts, hand-assembled in the United States.

Screen-Touch Pad The Computer screen-touch pad is foolproof, even for the novice. The PowerPro® has a simple-to-use digital control panel

with ive preset speeds and one-button touch up/down controls. There’s a smart, eicient internal speed chart programmed in that selects the best speed for every job. Or, you can set your own.

Why Shopsmith MARK 7 is

the Only Tool You’ll Need to

Get ‘er Done Right!

1. TABLE SAW With table space about the size of an aircraft carrier, the MARK 7 table saw can cut the toughest, thickest wood with ease. Featuring 2HP of high torque muscle that gives you power for an accurate cut every time. Two-bearing quill eliminates wobble and blade run out. The table space and fence system is deinitely an improvement over the older Model 500 Mark V.

2. DISC SANDER

Built in programming allows 1 RPM increments for easy selection of sanding speed. This allows you to avoid work piece burning and increase sandpaper life. Reverse sanding functions include removal of feathering on lathe turning on the inside or outside edges of drum-sanded projects. Quill Feed action and large table improves accuracy.

3. LATHE

Fancy cuts are no problem. The lathe on the MARK 7 makes an already-

enjoyable process even more fun. If you’ve struggled with roughing-out and turning large pieces, the lathe feature, with speed ranges from as low as 250 RPMs and twice the torque, combines big muscle with delicate precision. Ofset turning allows for some of the prettiest and artistic designs we’ve seen and the slowest speeds make it easier to start – and make imbalances easier to control.

4. HORIZONTAL BORING MACHINE

A boring machine saves time by creating precision doweling; tricky deep bores, or center-line drilling, quickly. MARK 7’s slow precise power helps

you avoid excessive heat and stalling, extending the life of your drill bits. The large work surface easily supports the largest boards, allowing you to quickly drill accurate hole depths, repeatedly.

5. DRILL PRESS

Wood, metal, or plastic – no problem! The large workspace coupled with

exceptional muscle, and the industry’s broadest speed range, make this feature a joy to operate. Increase the life of your bits by bottoming out your speed at 250 RPMs without sacriicing the power to drill non-ferrous metal other hard surfaces. Change speeds in 1 RPM increments at the simple push of a button. Unlike our competitors, Shopsmith features twin columns of non-twist support, keeping perfect alignment every time.

6. UNDER-TABLE SHAPING

The headstock allows cutting forward and in reverse on a large full tilt

17” x 22” worktable. Angled joinery and decorative cuts are easier with built-in ixturing capabilities. Angled Shaping with no bogging allows you to hone unique decorative edging that will impress your family and friends.

7. OVER TABLE ROUTING

Over-table stationary routing makes dadoing, grooving, and slot mortising much simpler. This feature provides a better view of the cut as it happens, driving precision and excellence in every project. Selection of the 10,000 RPMs speed allows for a smoother, faster cut every single time.

If you’re a woodworker who prefers the more conventional, UNDER-table approach to routing and shaping, this new Shopsmith Upgrade is for you. And, if you haven’t really thought about the diferences, here are a couple of points that you might want to consider.

Safety. With most UNDER-table shaping or routing operations, the workpiece is positioned between your hands and the bit. As a result, the workpiece, in efect, acts as a guard, protecting you from potential dangers. Example: When routing a dado or groove across the surface of a board. When performing this operation with the UNDER-table method, your router bit will be completely covered by the workpiece thus, keeping your hands well out of harm’s way.

Working Convenience. When you’re routing or shaping an interior cut-out area of a workpiece using the OVER-table method, removing a workpiece for an occasional inspection (or other reason) requires that you retract your bit or cutter. As a result, you’ll then also have to re-set your depth-of-cut each time you return to your task. However, with an UNDER- table set-up, the retraction and re-setting operations aren’t necessary.

Upgrading is a Quick, Simple Process. You’ll replace the two vertical Worktable Support Tubes and your current Base & Arm assembly and Headrest with two tilting Base & Arm Assemblies. The entire process takes about an hour and requires only a few simple tools that you probably have in your shop

Make Perfect Mortise-&-Tenon Joints with Shopsmith’s

Mortise & Tenon Package

Call Now!(800) 543-7586

Hollow Chisel Mortising Attachment Beats Two-Step Mortising Hands-Down for Speed, Precision & Finished Appearance

There are four primary ways to cut mortises.

The irst three ways are 1. Use a bench chisel which is time consuming; 2. Bore out the waste with a drill bit and follow that up with a second operation which is squaring it up with a chisel; 3. Rout away the waste, and again, then there is the second operation of squaring it up with a chisel. None of the irst 3 options are terribly fast or easy!

Then there is option number 4. Use a hollow chisel mortiser like the Shopsmith Mortising Package which is Super Fast & Super Easy!

Here’s How the Shopsmith Mortiser Works. Install your drill chuck on your MARK 7 or Mark V spindle. • Slip the Mortising Attachment over the outside of your quill and tighten the setscrew. • Insert the mortising chisel of your choice into the opposite end of the attachment and tighten another setscrew. • Slip the mortising bit through the chisel and tighten it in your drill chuck. • Position your workpiece against your rip fence, install the hold-down and go to work!

555810 Shopsmith Mortising Package $182.94

The attachment holds and keeps the chisel from rotating while your drill chuck holds and spins the mortising bit that rides inside the chisel. As you lower the set into your wood, the bit removes most of the waste while the chisel’s sharp edges shave the sides of the mortise square and smooth. The special hold-down attaches to the top of your rip fence to keep your workpiece from lifting of the table surface when you retract the chisel.

The Shopsmith Tenon Master® Jig Makes Creating the Mating Tenons For Your Joints a Snap

The Shopsmith Tenon Master® Jig has a wide, lat face that holds workpieces exactly perpendicular to your MARK 7 or Mark V worktable top. Besides being used to create tenons on the Table Saw, it’s also great for holding and guiding workpieces through operations on other tools such as your Bandsaw or Belt Sander.Made of heavy, cast aluminum, with a steel base, it ofers a large knob for optimum control and a miter bar that guides your workpiece across the table of your MARK 7, Mark V, Belt Sander or Bandsaw.

A toggle clamp helps you grip the workpiece, and an arced wooden trunnion provides back-up support for workpieces with angled ends. i.e. when cutting spline grooves for the mating faces of miters on picture frames and similar projects.

Just assemble your Dado Blade set to the combined width you want without using shims. Make a couple of sample passes and quick, truly simple spacing adjustments, and you’ll be set to go in a few short minutes!

It’s Just that Simple! Here’s why - The I-Box® is the irst commercially available box joint jig with a unique, micro-adjustable, dual pitch Positioning Engine that lets you set your pin width AND spacing in unison, with a single adjustment of the red knob. A

If you want to ine-tune for a tighter or looser it, you can adjust it by holding the red knob in position and rotating the outer, silver knob. Rotate it in a counter-clockwise direction to decrease the size of the pin and loosen the it or in a clockwise direction to increase the size of the pin and tighten the it. Each small white line on the red knob represents .001” of adjustment. THAT’S PRECISE! Once it’s adjusted properly for a set- up, you’re ready to go. No spacer strips to make or use for indexing your cuts and, no iddling required.

Unlike many blades that take a kerf of 1/8” or more, these blades deliver a narrower (Approx.) 3/32” kerf, resulting in a faster, more eicient cut that requires less horsepower than many competitive blades.

Here’s How to Choose Between Rip, Crosscut and Combination Blades

Before selecting your blades, understand that there are compromises. Although combination blades deliver excellent cuts in most

situations, the best cuts are usually produced by task-speciic blades. Rip cuts produce larger chips that require deep gullets to remove waste eiciently. And, since they need more gullet space, they have fewer teeth. Crosscutting

produces iner dust, so shallower gullets leave room for more teeth and a smoother cut. So, if your projects often require lots of continuous crosscutting or ripping, it would stand to reason that you’ll work quicker and get smoother results by using a purpose-speciic crosscut or rip blade. If your projects require that you switch back-and-forth between crosscutting and ripping more frequently, the saved time may more than ofset minimal change in cut quality that can come with using a combination blade.Note: All three of these blades are manufactured exclusively for Shopsmith by CMT Tools in Germany and feature the standard 1-1/4” Shopsmith arbor hole.

Prevent Dangerous Kickbacks When Cutting Dadoes, Grooves, Rabbets, Half Laps, etc.!

Riving knives on upper saw guards are positioned at the back side of the saw blade and are designed to prevent the kerf from closing onto the blade teeth once the cut has been made. When this occurs, the potential for kickback increases signiicantly.

If your Mark V is a model 520, 510 or 505, your Upper Saw Guard mechanism includes a Riving Knife that’s designed to prevent this kerf-closing when making through cuts. All of the new MARK 7s also include this system.

This New Non-Through-Cut Riving Knife will provide that same level of anti-kickback protection when making cuts where the blade does not pass all the way through the stock. Although the remaining wood that is not cut away from the stock during these non-through cuts will keep the kerf from closing on the blade, the workpiece could still rock or tilt slightly, permitting a wedging efect that could initiate a kickback. A wide metal Riving Knife at the outfeed side of the sawblade will prevent this wedging efect from occurring. The Riving Knife is slotted to slip quickly and easily into the Upper Guard Mounting System on your MARK 7 and Mark V tighten, using the plastic Wing Knob. You’ll be ready to safely make your cuts in a few seconds. Works equally well when making straight or bevel cuts at any depth.

With edge guides, each cut requires you to factor-in the distance from the

edge of your saw’s shoe to the blade or cut line. If that distance is like 2-9/32”, you’ll experience a frustrating, on-going computing problem!

But, unlike an edge guide, TrueTrac’s

specially designed Adapter Plate positions your saw on top of the guide

track, NOT against it, and features a polyvinyl strip with a sacriicial edge that marks your cut position precisely

with no factoring required. And, since your saw rides on top of the track, you can’t wander away from its edge and

ruin your cut.

The mating chamfered edges of the

Track rails and Adapter Plate grooves that ride on them are self-aligning

with zero play between them, while the weight of your saw keeps every

cut on-track and precisely positioned

every time - without clamps!

Joy!

This Go-anywhere System Gives You the Precision of a Cabinet Saw in a Compact Portable Package!

For ripping or crosscutting large sheet goods, nothing (short of a big bucks behemouth cabinet saw) can beat a good track saw. But, the most widely known models available today only work with proprietary saws and cost between $600 and $1,000. That’s too much for most home craftsmen, and tradesmen alike.

Rugged (1/8” thick) Track won’t sag like other

track saw, even with the optional 48” Extension Track in place. That means straighter, more accurate cuts every time.

Twin Anti-Chip Polyvinyl Track Edges Serve Three Purposes:

1. Non-slip bottom surfaces keep Track from moving while you cut.

No clamps required.

2. Your irst saw pass shaves the sacriicial edge. From that point, the edge indicates the exact position of

your saw blade for marking cut lines. No blade ofsets to calculate!

3. Anti-Chip Edges on the Track and the Adapter Plate prevent splintering. Very important when you’re cutting

Rip narrow boards, as if you were using a table sawAs long as you have two boards of the same thickness, this task is amazingly simple.

Shave thin strips of workpiece edges to produce boards of precise widths With TrueTrac, ripping as little as 1/32” of the edge of a board is a breeze.

Eliminating rough or waned edges is a snapThis is one job that is actually far more diicult with your table saw than with your TrueTrac Track Saw!

Crosscut multiple boards, all at onceJust line them up, position TrueTrac on top and make your cuts. Polyvinyl edges hold track in position without clamps or iddling.

Bevel the edges of sheet goods or individual boardsFlip your saw around to the opposite side of the Track and you’re ready to rip or crosscut perfectly beveled edges.

555204 Shopsmith Sharpening Guide $57.52

Meet the Most Stable, Most Versatile Lathe Tool Rest You’ll Find Anywhere!

555811 Universal Lathe Tool Rest System $219.28

Shopsmith’s Sharpening Guide Makes Easy, Fail-safe Work of

Creating Super-Sharp Edges on Bench Chisels, Lathe Chisels and

Even Shaper Cutters

Sharp chisels are essential for achieving the best results on your joinery or turning tasks. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done for many woodworkers. But thanks to this innovative device, you’ll be able to achieve the super-sharp edges you need quickly, easily and without guesswork.

Simply mount the guide to your Shopsmith’s worktable (for sharpening bench chisels or shaper cutters) – or to your extension table (for sharpening lathe parting tools, skews, gouges and roundnose lathe chisels) -- then

use your sanding disc with PSA-backed sandpaper discs (not Velcro®-backed) to do the sharpening. A template is included for drilling the mounting holes, as is a printed table outlining the best angle settings for sharpening various tools. Position the tool against the appropriate station wall of the guide (as described in the instructions) and use the guide’s curved angle quadrant to set the perfect angle for each type of tool.

Shopsmith’s steel sanding disc (and appropriate sandpaper discs) are required for sharpening with the guide. See Page 32

Shopsmith’s Unique Conical

Sanding Disc Does Things

Conventional Discs Simply

Cannot Do!

Although this may be a strange-looking disc, make no mistake about it – it will help you achieve the

kinds of astonishing results on the edges (up to 4” wide) and surfaces of workpieces that you cannot achieve with conventional sanding discs.

No Edge is Too Diicult. This amazing disc will even shave diicult, highly igured birdseye or burled woods without tearing or chipping. And, where plywood, particleboard, MDF and laminate-covered composites will literally eat-up jointer knives, NOT SO with the conical disc.

Remove Up To a Full 1/8” in a Single Pass! Where you can almost count on getting poor results with a full 1/8” jointer pass, this is not the case with the conical disc.

Prove it to yourself! Just grab a piece of igured wood or composite material, make your set-up for a 1/8” pass, follow all operational and safety instructions and shove it through! Prepare to be amazed!

Here’s How it Works The disc is made with a unique, 4° tapered shape that begins 1-1/4” from the center of the disc and continues to its outside edges. This creates its unusual cone-like shape.

When you use the disc, its infeed side contacts the workpiece surface at a 90° angle, parallel to the grain of the wood.

You start by tilting your Shopsmith’s worktable to the same 4° angle and use your rip fence or miter gauge to keep your stock moving in a straight line.

As your stock moves past the disc, a 1/4” wide vertical band is created where the full workpiece edge (up to 4” high) is in contact with the abrasives. Within this band, the abrasives and workpiece edge are both moving parallel with one another and in opposite directions. As a result, you achieve a straight-line, swirl-free surface.

Achieve Smooth, Swirl-free Edge and Surface-sanding Results with This Remarkable Disc!

Pressure-sensitive (PSA) Aluminum Oxide (A/O) Conical Sandpaper DiscsEspecially made for our unique conical sanding disc, they feature a laser-cut slice toallow them to conform to the shape of the steel disc.

As a Woodworker, You Already Know That Only Sharp Tools Will Help You Produce the Best Results with the Least Efort

Your lathe chisels, bench chisels, and plane irons all have cutting edges that WILL become dulled and MAY get nicked. And that means they need to be sharpened periodically to help you achieve the best results on whatever job you’re doing.

In Addition to Sharpening your Woodworking Tool Edges, You Can Also Use It to:

• Restore the damaged tips of your screwdrivers

• Flatten the ends of punches• Round the ends of bolts you

may have sawn to a shorter length, in order to remove any burrs you’ve created

• Sharpen gardening and other outdoor tools such as lawnmower blades, axes, trimming shears and more And, these are just the beginning!

The guard comes with a generous-sized, easily adjustable tool rest that provides positive control of your grinding angles. Once it’s adjusted (to any angle up to 90°) simply lock it irmly into position with the large, over-sized wing nut. Use the rest in a vertical position when sharpening chisels or other narrow edged tools. If you prefer, its notched leading edge can be adjusted to surround the wheel for added tool support. Then move it into a horizontal position when sharpening plane irons or other wider tools.

Shopsmith’s Biscuit Joiner – The Better Way to Join

Boards Together!

The Shopsmith version of this amazing tool is both simpler to use and certainly more afordable than its portable electric counterparts. Just set your MARK 7 or Mark V up in drill press position, slip the Joiner’s blade arbor over your quill shaft, tighten its housing around your quill collar and you’re set to go.

It’s fully adjustable for #0, #10, and #20 biscuits. It includes a built-in dust collection hook-up to help you keep your shop clean. The two sharp pointed positioning pins and the non-slip surfaces keep your workpiece from slipping during slot cutting.

Workpiece alignment is assured by the biscuit’s uniform shape and size and by the precision of the slots cut by the Joiner. You can even slide the mating boards back and forth during assembly to make lateral adjustments!

The Facts About Biscuit’s Strength The beechwood biscuits start swelling as soon as they contact the glue, creating a super-tight it that locks the joined boards together - permanently. Biscuits are constructed to maximize stronger long grain gluing surfaces, while half of a dowel’s gluing surface relies on short (end) grain surfaces for its strength. As a result, biscuits are proven to be stronger than dowels when you need tough, durable joinery for wood, MDF or particleboard projects. (Includes carbide-tipped Cutting Blade, non-slip surfaces, instruction manual and [25] #20 Biscuits)

Faith, Hope,

Peace

Most Woodworkers Agree, Biscuit Joiners Produce Stronger, Tighter Joints Than Dowels and Help You Create Joints with Improved Ease & Speed.

Santa Wants a MiterSet!

The Shopsmith MiterSet is perfect for beginning do-it-yourself woodcrafters and professional woodworkers alike. Why? Because a simple pin system sets the perfect alignment for your miter gauge on every single cut. The MiterSet features a laser-etched, anodized aluminum plate with a miter gauge slot, making it sturdy, quick to line up, and easy to get fast, accurate results.

The MiterSet Standard Stands Out with Accurate and Fast Set-up at ½ Degree Increments

• Eliminate concerns about how accurately you’ve set-up your Miter Gauge indicator plate.

• Avoid the potential mistake of counting markings or notches between labeled angles

• Just place one pin in the zero hole (Clearly labeled with large, easy-to-read numbers) and the other in the hole for the desired angle at every 5 degrees – detent bar included for smaller increments. Loosen your miter gauge, lock and place your miter gauge bar in the MiterSet slot. Slide your miter gauge against the pins and relock. Your miter gauge will be lawlessly set to the angle you need to create a no-gap mitered joint that is picture perfect!

MiterSet Segments for Segmented Turnings - No Math Required!

Using the MiterSet Segments is even one step easier. Normally, when cutting segments, you’d have to calculate the angles or use a chart to determine the angle you need. The

MiterSet Segment jig eliminates the need for tedious steps, making it efortless.

Just Plug in the base pin and then plug the 2nd pin in the hole clearly labeled with the number of sides. That’s it, the MiterSet Segments has selected and set the correct angle. You save the frustration, trial-and-error, and wasted wood that comes with a conventional approach.

How to tell if your Motor should be replaced

BOGGING/LACK OF POWER If your Motor lacks the power it once had or bogs down when cutting heavy boards, it’s probably time for a replacement.

FAILS TO START If you have experienced this problem and have already replaced the switch with no success, it’s time to replace your Motor.

SQUEAKING OR HUMMING Squeaking is a sign of bearing failure and humming indicates that the motor is struggling to start. If the Motor still squeaks or hums after removing the Drive Belt, it should be replaced ASAP.

SMOKING OR FOUL ODOR Either of these problems are an indication that the Motor should be replaced as soon as possible.
