you are printing in black and white, consider printing on colored paper. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring. A Cover Card to label your container or baggie is also included.

Inference is such a tricky skill to master, but these 24 cards can help! Each card features a short story and an inference question, plus a “How do you know?” question. Use them orally in small groups, or individually as a writing assignment. There are two Answer Sheets for you to choose from. One has room for 8 answers, and the other has room for 4 answers but here students are also asked to answer the “How do you know?” question. Students can track the cards they have completed on the included Recording Sheet. An Answer Key is also included, though these cards are somewhat open-ended, so more than one answer may be valid.4
