THE GIFT OF PEACE

“There arose no little dissension and debate.” Did that happen at work this week? Most of us can recall run-ins with coworkers, even with the boss. Did it happen while socializing with friends? Go easy on politics, religion . . . even sports. At home? Even the most peaceful household experiences a little “give and take” now and then. So where was it that “there arose no little dissension and debate”? That tumultuous conflict occurred among our first Christian ancestors, disrupting the community life of the early church. But today’s Acts of the Apostles shows how beautifully the Holy Spirit, promised by Jesus in today’s Gospel, helped the church achieve a grace-filled resolution. What evolved was that “reconciled diversity,” often encouraged by Pope Francis and even envisioned in today’s Revelation passage; and a wondrous experience of Jesus’ promised Gospel gift: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” Copyright © J. St. Francis Diner Volunteers

It is Sacred Heart’s turn to serve at St. Francis Diner at 1201 S. Hopkins Street on Friday, May 31st beginning at 10:30am. The blessings you receive for volunteering your

time to those in need are priceless!

My Name is Jason Broussard. I am a 43 years old and I was born and raised in New Iberia. I am married to my wife of 15 years, Tabatha Louiviere Broussard and we have one daughter, Madison who is 13 years old. I am the Vice President of Pipeline & Process Services at BlueFin, a local oilfield company. My hobbies include spending time with my family, playing golf, participating in church activities, and when theres extra time, duck hunting and fishing. I am living Cursillo #456 and attend weekly Ultreya meetings, a member of Saturday morning Rosary group, and attend yearly retreats at Our Lady of the Oaks in Grand Coteau. My family and I have been parishioners at Sacred Heart for at least 8 years. My intent for the parish is to not only keep the youth interested but also keep adult interest in the Church and the mass and to ensure that all people who attend Mass understand it and want to learn more about our Catholic faith.

Lisa Boudoin is a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is married to Ryan Boudoin and has 3 children, Ashley Romero Champagne, Joshua Romero and Jacob Boudoin. Lisa is the Office Manager at Norris International Services. She is active in volunteering for Boy Scout Troop 133.

Lisa has served on many different ministries over the past 20 years at Sacred Heart. These include Teen Mission, 6 years as a Core Member of Life Teen, Eucharistic Minister and is currently serving as the Secretary on the Parish Pastoral Council.

My name is Dodi Bouton. I was born and raised in New Iberia. I married my high school sweetheart Chad Bouton. We have been married for 21 years. We have 2 children. Kennedi is 16 and Trace is 9. We have been parishioners of Sacred Heart for 16 years. This past year Chad & I helped with Life Teen. It was a good experience and I learned a lot. It is so important in today’s society to reach these kids and help them build their faith. As parents, as mentors it’s our job to help them keep God at the fore front. I would be delighted to work with Father Keith and the other council members on pastoral matters.

My name is Bettie Louviere. I have been a parishioner of Sacred Heart with my husband, Eric (Rick), for past 38 years. We have 4 children-Travis (Tammy) Louviere, Erika Louviere, Michael (Melissa) Louviere & Bridget (Glenn) Parria. We also are Blessed with 9 grandchildren & 1 great-granddaughter. I have served on the Sacred Heart Parish Council for past 2 years, have been & currently on adoration committee for 1st Friday adoration for past several years & also have been & currently help with Bereavement committee for past several years. I taught 4th grade religion for several years when my children were growing up. I work as a Full-time Registered Nurse & have worked at First Option Home Health for 26 years. I would be honored to serve on the parish council for another 3 years.

Nominees for Parish Pastoral Council Elections will be held at the weekend Masses next weekend, June 1-2, 2019. Please look over and come prepared to vote for ONLY three of them next

weekend. Confirmed parishioners age 16 and over are eligible to vote.

The Choice Wine The Choice Wine is a pathway to authentic marital happiness. Stewardship Moment In today’s Gospel we witness the last evening Jesus spends with his disciples before his death. He has already made it clear that his followers will show their love for him by serving others. To live that kind of love, they will need the active presence of God in their midst. Jesus tells his disciples that he and his Father will come and make their home with them. He also tells them that the Holy Spirit will be among them to teach them and remind them of all that Jesus had taught. Good stewards recognize that God is in their midst and that the Holy Spirit is guiding them. How often do we acknowledge God’s presence in our lives? How often do we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us?
