What’s a ‘Picnic’ with-out a Barbie - or a couple of superb

chefs!

...and, of course, tables with tablecloths… ...and people to scoff the food down

This took place on 1st December 2012 (as a dry run for Christmas later in the year?) It definitely tested our resolve as the temperature soared to 35º C, which did not detract from the enjoyment what with good food, good fellowship and the cool pool close by. We’ll do this again!

10 Envelopes

A man told his son that he would give him $1000 if he could accomplish the following task. The father gave his son ten envelopes and a thousand

dollars, all in one dollar bills. He told his son, "Place the money in the en-velopes in such a manner that no matter what number of dollars I ask

for, you can give me one or more of the envelopes, containing the exact amount I asked for without having to open any of the envelopes. If you

can do this, you will keep the $1000."

When the father asked for a sum of money, the son was able to give him envelopes containing the exact amount of money asked for. How did the

son distribute the money among the ten envelopes?

Bora Bora...

Tahiti

Tahiti...

Tahiti...

...and then New Zealand!!

Our home for 18 days

We went on a tropical cruise - from Honolulu to Sydney. Eighteen days of indulgence! Eat all you want all day, even cabin service all night. See shows - for free. See latest movies - for free (if you can get a seat).

Swim on board or on shore at the few berths on some tropic island.

Have your cabin (although they called it a ‘stateroom’) cleaned and the bed made every day.

Bask in the sunshine during the day and dance the night away to romantic music or rock n roll - your choice. Lovely and warm under the clear sunny sky.

See the pictures

And then we landed in Wellington. Need I say more?

Growing Tree

A tree which is planted on Monday and doubles in size each day, is fully grown on the following Sunday. On what day is it half grown? (Answer: Page 6)

New year’s eve...was there a party? I don’t know as I was being in captivity in Ipswich. What a drag. The nurses were not very helpful what with: “Why should you have a

beer to celebrate since we are not allowed to have any?!” So all I could do was imagine what was happening at ER (Elephant Rock, that is, not Emergency Room) while sorrowfully gazing into my cup of weak tea. Thank heavens that there were some pictures taken of the participants in the ‘P’ party. So gaze at all the pirates and prostitutes and popeyes and Playboy bunnies and police and priests and popes etc, etc. And even a fire twirler, (pyromaniac?)!!

I'll remember

2012 like it

was

yesterday !

PAGE 5 - The letter is 'S'. Each letter is the first

letter of the number before it spelled out.

Page 3 - Saturday (it doubles in size each day).

Page 2 - The contents of the ten envelopes should be as follows: $1, $2, $4, $8, $16, $32,

$64, $128, $256, $489. The first nine numbers are in geometrical progression, and their sum,

deducted from 1,000, gives the contents of the tenth envelope.

I can’t believe I’m sixty, party

Yes. Sue had a bit of a birthday party on 16th March which developed into a Pisces Birthday bash since there were a few other people here who were able to call themselves as Pisceans.

The 30 odd (very odd indeed!) people enjoyed a feast fit for kings inside the common room after a pleasant happy hour around a roaring camp fire. The celebration in the ‘beautiful one day, perfect the next’ Queensland and the perfect Elephant Rock setting was truly enjoyable. May the next ‘I Can’t believe…’ party be as lovely as this one Sue.
