J E OF Mercy
Dec. 8, 2015 - Nov. 20, 2016
For the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Bishop Jaime Soto has designated 12 Pilgrimage sites. Paired with the sites is either a Corporal or Spiritual Work of Mercy. Partial and plenary indulgences can be earned for both pilgrimage and/or practice. If you plan to make a pilgrimage to one of these sites, it is recommended that you call one week in advance to schedule a time to visit. Afterwards, you will receive a sticker of the pilgrimage site to place in your passport either from the pilgrimage site or here at Divine Mercy Parish.
Walk through the Holy Door of Mercy, spend some time with our Lord and pray:
The Apostle’s Creed The Our Father The Hail Mary The Jubilee Year of Mercy prayer Pray for the Holy Father and his
intentions for the month.

Work of Mercy for the Month of June — Give Drink to the Thirsty
The Holy Father’s Intentions for June
Universal: Human Solidarity.
That the aged, marginalized, and those who have no one may find—even within the huge cities of the world—opportunities for encounter and solidarity.
Evangelization: Seminarians and Novices. That seminari-ans and men and women entering religious life may have mentors who live the joy of the Gospel and prepare them wisely for their mission.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Did you know that you have more opportunity
for Confession at Divine Mercy?
Yes, during this Holy Year of Mercy, there is the Sacrament of Reconciliation one hour prior to Mass, except on Sundays.
How Can we Give Drink to the Thirsty?
The second corporal work of mercy is to give drink to the thirsty. These days we
do not meet many thirsty people by the roadside, as the early Christians did.
But again, we are citizens and voters in ways in which they were not. Sup-
porting "clean water" policies to insure that there will be clean water for future
generations to drink is one way to give drink to the thirsty in our context.
Here is another way. In some countries, and in some states in the U.S., it is now
legal to stop providing food and water to a patient who is terminally ill, or in a
seemingly irreversible comatose or vegetative state. This is a serious moral evil
that the Church has repeatedly condemned. It is one thing to cease painful or
expensive medical treatment that has little chance of significantly improving a
patient's condition. But food and water does not constitute medical
"treatment": It is basic human care, providing essentials that we all need, at
every stage of life. A person's life has certainly not reached its natural end, its
natural time to die, in God's plan, if that person can still survive with the basic
care of adequate food and water. If we want to give food to the hungry and
drink to the thirsty, therefore, let's be aware of the distinction between
"treatment" and "care" of the seriously ill, and the importance of the natural
end of life, and the process of dying, which is a natural part of every human life,
and must not be hastened through lack of "care."
The right to life, according to the Church, extends from conception to its natu-
ral end. As Jesus would say, the right to life extends even to "the least of my
brethren" (Mt 25:40), whether these helpless ones are unborn children in the
womb or the terminally ill or comatose, nearing their journey's end. On these
important Pro-Life issues, we can be witnesses to our family and friends.

A Message from Your Finance Council:
Calling all Parishioners
in the Accounting or Finance Field!
The Parish is in need of volunteers to serve on the Finance Council. The council is an advisory group to our Pastor in all financial matters of the parish including normal business operations, the preparation of the annual operating budget, presentation of the annual parish financial reports, and for long-term financial planning to support the parish growth.
If you are knowledgeable and skilled in financial matters, have some FP&A experience, management expertise, and are known for having pru-dent judgment, then share your God-given gifts by helping us a member. The Finance Council meets once a month and a membership commitment of up to three years is expected. For those that are interested, please submit a short resume summarizing your
experience to the Parish Office.

our common humanity, values in the name of
which we can and must cooperate.”

A Potluck for All Come, Learn, and Celebrate the Sacred Heart/Divine Mercy Devotions Ministry’s (SHDMDM) accomplishments the past 3 years.
We will have a presentation of all the action units: (Sacred Heart and Divine Mercy Enthronement Units, Study of Sacred Heart and Divine Mercy Units, Evangelization Unit, Prayer Unit and Communications Unit).
It will also be the first reunion of all Sacred Heart and Divine Mercy enthroned families.

Father Soane will join us, speaking to the mission of our church, to explain the difference between an enthronement and a blessing, and share examples of our church’s ministries working together, as one body with many parts, to fulfill the mission of Divine Mercy Catholic Church.
This event will be at the Four Seasons Westshore Clubhouse on Sat., July 9, from 12:00 to 4:00pm. There will be music, dancing and just a plain ol’ family gathering of Divine Mercy parishioners.
