The Craft + Estate portfolio is proud to represent nine of the

leading producers of Austria’s fine wine regions. Just like individual

musicians are essential to produce a well-orchestrated symphony,

each of our wines together provide a comprehensive overview of

the diverse styles and top appellations of Austrian wine.

“Varietal wines are like a violin playing a

    beautiful melody.

Gemischter Satz is like a symphony.” – Fritz Wieninger

    AUSTRIAN

Vienna was home to many of the best-known Classical music composers, such as Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert,

and Johann Strauss II. Of the five, only Schubert was born in Vienna.

GRÜNER VELTLINERThe signature grape variety of Austria, this white grape is rarely planted outside of the country.

Youthful styles are typically unoaked and exude flavors of green apple, citrus and peppery

spice. Grüner Veltliner is also capable of aging for 10-20 years, developing hauntingly

complex flavors of ripe fruit, herbs and spice, with a rounded texture backed by

    bracing acidity.

HAVE SOME RespektThe respekt-BIODYN organization was founded in 2007 by a group of like-minded winemakers

dedicated to elevating the quality of winegrowing using biodynamic farming principles. Paul

Achs, Gernot Heinrich, Fritz Wieninger, and Fred Loimer were among the founding members.

Today the organization has 22 winery members throughout Austria, Germany, Italy and

Hungary. Unlike Demeter, respekt-BIODYN is purely tailored to viticulture.

    PRAGER FEDERSPIEL STEINRIEGL RIESLING (WACHAU)

TERROIRKamptal’s loess and loam terraces combine with the warm Pannonian climate and cool forest air to provide optimal growing conditions for Grüner Veltliner.

KEY TAKEAWAYA benchmark Grüner Veltliner, with tasting notes of kaffir lime, radish and white pepper.

TERROIRLoess soil formed in the most recent Ice Age some 300,000 years ago is mainly found on the southern and southeastern slopes of the Krems vineyards.

KEY TAKEAWAYA crowd-pleasing, juicier style of Grüner Veltliner. A great option for accounts that are looking for a high quality and affordable entry point into the category.

TERROIRThe Steinriegl Vineyard is an exceptionally steep, southwest-facing site. Its soil is a unique “kalksilikatmarmor,” a limestone silicate marble.

KEY TAKEAWAYFederspiel is a designation of ripeness for dry wines of the Wachau, falling between 11.5 and 12.5% ABV.

    SZIGETI GRÜNER VELTLINER BRUT (BURGENLAND)

KEY TAKEAWAYSmaragd is a designation of ripeness for dry wines of the Wachau, indicating a minimum 12.5% ABV.

TERROIR: Vineyards located within the outskirts of Vienna. Varied soils and climates from Bisamberg and Nussberg, which are separated by the Danube River.

KEY TAKEAWAYBecause the grapes are harvested at the same time (with some unripe and some overripe), the resulting wine will have a range of aromas and flavors.

TERROIRGrapes sourced from multiple vineyards within the Burgenland region, with 13 – 14 months on the lees, exceeding the requirement for the “Klassik” quality designation.

KEY TAKEAWAYA unique sparkling wine option, made méthode traditionnelle, with the distinct character and flavors of Grüner Veltliner.
