Almost everyone has been hurt at some point be- cause of a secret, a distorted truth, a lie, and/or the discovery of something that should have been talked about openly and here at Frimley, we will be encouraging the children to be honest towards their peers, adults and in their approach to their learning. As you are aware, Mrs Williams is leaving us at the end of next week to begin her mater- nity leave. Her role as Inclusion Leader will be covered by Mrs Baker. I am pleased to be able to connue the children’s educaon with current members of the staff team. We wish Mrs Williams good luck with her new baby and look forward to an update! In other news, I’m pleased to be able to tell you that, aſter a recent interview process, the Gover- nors and I have appointed Mrs Farage as Deputy Headteacher and I am sure you will all join me in congratulang her on this appointment. We were all also really proud of Mrs Reehal who recently completed the London Marathon. She had set herself the target of running in under 5 hours and achieved her goal – a great example of perseverance and determinaon! As you are all aware, Mrs Reehal was raising money for Macmillan Can- cer and a huge thank you to those parents who supported her with this. Well done Mrs Reehal and Mrs Farage! SATs week is rapidly approaching. Our Year 6 children are an absolute credit to them- selves, their teachers and you as parents and they have worked really hard all year to- wards these tests; their commitment and atude is to be applauded. It is worth remind- ing parents that children will only perform at their best if they come to school well rest- ed, having eaten a good breakfast and in a posive frame of mind. 100% aendance for year 6 during SATs week is essenal so we would appreciate it if the coming weekend is not too excing or ring! Good luck Year 6! A big thank you to the parents who came to the parent forum last week. As the leer that had previously been sent out explained, the focus of this meeng was fundraising. We discussed various ideas for events that can run this term; more details of individual events will follow. However, these events will only be possible if parents/family volun- teer to help us. We cannot expect a small group of parents to be responsible for all of the events. If everyone plays a small part, the roles can be shared out and the experienc- es made more enjoyable for everyone. If you would like to offer support with any events then please email your contact details to the school office. Year 4: As the end of the year approaches, we will be re-mixing the classes in Year 4 in preparaon for children moving into the upper school. This is an opportunity to re- balance the classes and allows the children to develop further their social skills and ex- tend their circle of friends. This is always a very worthwhile yet difficult task with many factors to be considered. If there are any concerns you would like to be taken into ac- count, please email the school office so that we can be fully informed as we take deci- sions on moving the groupings forward. If your concerns are sensive, please mark it as confidenal and for the aenon of the Head Teacher only. The deadline for sending in requests is Thursday 25 th May. Learning together we grow

In assembly last week, we launched our focus value for this half-term which is Honesty. We talked about making the right choices and doing the right thing so that people around us can see us as trustworthy. Almost everyone has been hurt at some point be-cause of a secret, a distorted truth, a lie, and/or the discovery of something that should have been talked about openly and here at Frimley, we will be encouraging the children to be honest towards their peers, adults and in their approach to their learning. Good luck Year 6! A big thank you to the parents who came to the parent forum last week. As the letter that had previously been sent out explained, the focus of this meeting was fundraising. Printer out of action? Handwritten slips/

notes are acceptable using the same wording as the tear off slips on school letters. Not on Parentmail? Or think you have missed a letter? Keep up to date by looking at our website for any information that has been sent home www.frimley.surrey.sch.uk Please note: We no longer send home paper copies.

CAN WE HAVE ANY VOUCHERS THAT YOU MAY STILL HAVE AT HOME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE PLEASE. Sainsbury’s voucher scheme has now finished, but we still need any vouchers that you may still have at home. These vouchers are vital to help us equip the new cookery room. Items we can obtain using vouchers means money can be spent on other areas of the curriculum . Thank you to everyone who has supported us by handing in vouchers today and please if you find one or two hidden in your purse or in the car, hand them into school—they all add up.

IMPORTANT—SUPERVISION OF PUPILS

Can we remind parents/carers that supervision at school starts at 8.30am, when teachers go out on duty. If your child needs to be at school earlier we have an 8 o’clock Club at school at a cost of £2 per session (we currently have spaces available on all days) and would suggest that parents take ad-vantage of this facility.

Children should not be left unsupervised outside school before 8.30am.

We are having our next meeting tomorrow. We are discussing the ‘Sport of the Week’ (so far we have had tennis and hockey) and our Chill Zone. We have got the bunting ready and the furniture arrived late yesterday afternoon, so we will be able to enter the House of Commons competition!

Last Friday, Mr O’Luanaigh came in at lunchtime to talk about his job and his computer gaming compa-ny. It was really interesting. It would be great if we could continue having parents come in to share their hobbies and skills.

BOOK FAIR — THANK YOU!

For 3 days from March 6th-8th, the Scholastic book fair was run by the librarians in The Hub. There were a range of different books to buy for 5-11 year olds. It was extremely busy and we took £829.07. This meant the school was allowed 60% of the money in com-mission, £497.44—amazing! Mrs Selley took £172.70 worth of books to put in the Library. The remaining money can be spent on Scholastic books for the school. We hope that everyone enjoyed read-ing the books they bought. A huge thank you to everyone who sup-ported the Book Fair. Grand opening of new running track

On Thursday 20th April 2017, the children and staff of Frimley Church of England School welcomed Elizabeth Duggan from Active Surrey to their school, to officially open their new running track.

All children are taking part in Active Surrey’s Run the World scheme which takes them past various sporting events and finishes in Sur-rey for the Women’s Lacrosse World cup in July. Frimley chil-dren run, jog or walk a measured mile for 15 minutes most days using the all weather track. The miles are then logged on The Gold-en Mile website so that they can track their progress. Collectively schools should cover the 28,750 miles around the world over the course of the school year.

Surrey School Games—26th April 2017

Last week four members of our sports council: Emma C, Zandra, Charlie N and Lucas represented the school at the opening of the Surrey School Games. James Beevers, Olympic Fencer, also gave a speech on how to Fence. After the official countdown and grand opening there were activities for everyone. These included Lacrosse, Dance, In-door Rowing (yes really!) Quick Sticks and Obstacle Relays. The children had a great day and wanted to thank Miss Neighbour for the wonderful opportunity that they had been given.
