I am writing to offer my sincere congratulations to the parishioners of Friendship Baptist Church on the occasion of your first Community Awareness Day and your efforts to bring the community of Winston-Sa-lem together.

William R. Rice is married to Hortencia D. Rice. They
have one son and 3 daughters, 6 grand children and one
great grand son. He graduated from Winston-Salem State
University, with a BA in Psychology, where he has also
served previously as a faculty member, teaching Develop-
mental Psychology. He graduated from Appalachian State
University with an MA in Human Development and Psycho-
logical Counseling and a concentration in agency counsel-
ing. He also served as assistant director of African-American
Student Development. By the grace of God he is a licensed
Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate in North Carolina
and is currently a child and family therapist, counseling ad-
olescents and their families with substance abuse and legal issues at The Children’s Home
in Winston-Salem.. He previously served at Bridgeway Behavioral Health in High Point. He
also works at Insight Human Services with the adult methadone program. He has worked
with Forsyth / Stokes Mental Health Center and Centerpoint Human Services. By the grace
of God, William Rice is actively involved in the congregation at Frienship Baptist church,
serving as a deacon since 1985 .By God`s grace, he originated the concept of today’s “Com-
munity Awareness Day.”
The Reverend Stacey Lamont Frazier graduat-
ed from Dudley High School in Greensboro, NC, and from
Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga, where he received a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy. Along
with additional studies at Duke University Divinity School
and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Rev. Frazier
received his Dr. of Divinity degree by Apex School of The-
ology in Durham, NC. Licensed to preach at New Light
Baptist Church in Greensboro under the pastorate of the
Rev. Dr. Cardes H. Brown, Jr., he has preached numerous re-
vivals and engagements across the US. He was privileged
to speak at the National Baptist Convention-USA, National
Baptist Convention of America, General Baptist State Convention of NC. Rev. Frazier is past
Coordinator of the Young Pastors’ and Ministers’ Division of the General Baptist State Con-
vention of NC. He is the youngest minister to be inducted into the Martin Luther King, Jr.
Board of Preachers at Morehouse College. Reverend Frazier is the chairperson of ACT-SO
and youth advisor of the Greensboro Branch NAACP, serves on the Board of Trustees of Apex
School of Theology, and belongs to the Greensboro Young Professionals and Kappa Alpha
Psi Fraternity.

Robert G. Bock, Jr. holds an MA in Human Development and
Psychological Counseling, with an emphasis on substance abuse,
from Appalachian State; a BA in Applied Science, with an emphasis
in psychology, from Winston-Salem State University; and an Asso-
ciate’s Degree from Lenior Community College. Mr. Bock current-
ly serves as a substance abuse worker with the NC Department of
Public Safety, DART Cherry Facility, Goldsboro, NC. He has previous-
ly been involved with programming, substance abuse counseling,
supervision, and consulting with Criminal Justice Programs of the
Alcohol/Drug Council of NC; the NC Department of Correction in the DART Cherry Program,
at Foothills Correctional Institution, and at Morganton Youth Center; the Iredell County Day
Reporting Center; Wings of Change & New Beginnings Community; and Carolina Psych
Group of Statesville, NC. Mr. Bock has transformed his personal experience of prison and
parole into an amazing ministry over long years since, by serving those struggling with ad-
diction behind bars and also assisting them with re-entry after their incarceration to prevent
relapse. When he first exited prison, he became the assistant director at Prodigals Commu-
nity of Winston-Salem, beginning work the same day he was paroled, and thus launching
his ministry.

Elder Jermaine Richardson was born in Charlotte, NC, and
committed his life to Christ at the age of 8 years at Gospel Light
House Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC.
It was apparent that God had chosen Elder Richardson, as evi-
denced by the preaching of his initial sermon under the tutelage
of Bishop John C Parks at New Hope Baptist Church on July 22,
2001. He was licensed as a minister of the gospel under his cur-
rent Pastor and Teacher, Apostle B. J. McCloud of Tabernacle of
Faith Church, on August 19, 2002. In 2005, Elder Richardson was
elected President of the Youth Council of Tabernacle of Faith Church of Winston-Salem,
and having served faithfully in that role, was deemed by Apostle McCloud to be a good
candidate for a shared position of Coordinator of the Youth Department of Tabernacle of
Faith. Elder Richardson works at The Children’s Home in Winston-Salem.
Rev. Laura Alexander Elliott serves as Chaplain & Congrega-
tional Liaison at The Children’s Home in Winston-Salem, which serves
Western North Carolina. Rev. Elliott is an ordained United Methodist
clergyperson and is appointed by the Bishop to her ministry at TCH.
Previously, she was appointed to Experiment in Self-Reliance (ESR)
which provides services to low-income families and the homeless in
Winston-Salem. Prior to her call to ministry, she had a 17-year career
in Corporate Communications & Marketing, including working as a
Marketing Manager and VP at the former Wachovia Corp. Laura is
a native of Gastonia, NC, and graduated as a Morehead Scholar from UNC-Chapel Hill, along
with receiving a Master’s Degree from Temple Univ. in Philadelphia. She received her seminary
education at Wake Forest Divinity School and Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, from
which she graduated magna cum laude. Son John recently graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill
and just returned from studying abroad in the Yucatan; son Zachary graduated from RJ Reyn-
olds this spring and just started his college career at Vanderbilt.”

Mike Akins is a native of the Triad, having grown up in Greens-
boro, NC. Married for 34 years, he has three adult children—two
sons and one daughter. Mike owns and operates of Akins & As-
sociates, LLC, providing DWI assessments and treatment, court-or-
dered drug/alcohol assessments, and DMV evaluations and out-
patient treatment programs for people needing alcohol and drug
services, as well as dual-diagnosis groups. Mike has worked in
Substance Abuse/Criminal Justice/Dual Diagnosis field for 37
years, serving populations in outpatient and inpatient, jails and
prisons, both male and female. He is a community advocate and
believes in the concept of empowering and uplifting his community. He has served as a
board member of Ole Asheboro Street Association in Greensboro, NC, and has participated
in Impact Greensboro, Undoing Racism, and the Other Voices program offered through the
Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. Mike embraces the belief that you must meet people
where they are and work hard to help them achieve their goals. He loves his family, is proud
of his children, and has a great love for music and good food.
Dr. Tobias E. LaGrone was born in Chickasaw County, Mis-
sissippi, in 1968. He fulfilled his parents’ dream of becoming the
first in his immediate family to earn a college degree, receiving a
BA in Political Science from Jackson State University in Mississippi,
and holding both the M.Div. and D.Min. from Memphis Theologi-
cal Seminary in Tennessee. Having accepted his call to preach at
the age of 17, be began pastoring at 19 years old, and possesses
more than 20 years of pastoral experience. Dr. LaGrone has been
married to Patricia Wade Freeman LaGrone of Guntown, MS, for 19
years and they have one child, Tabrea, who is 13. He is a member
of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and is a 32nd degree Mason. Presently, Dr. LaGrone is a Clini-
cally Trained Pastoral Counselor, Psychotherapist, and Substance Abuse Counselor in private
practice in Greensboro, NC. Dr. LaGrone expresses his passion for ministry and the Christian
Formation process of the total person (mind, body, spirit, and soul) through his preaching,
