Invitation to Talk and Dinner to Celebrate Lines of Torres Vedas Day 2019

In honour of the fact that the Portuguese government has designated the 20th October as the Day of the Lines of Torres Vedras, a talk and dinner has been arranged on Friday 18 October 2019, at the Cavalry and Guards Club at 127 Piccadilly, W1J 7PX London.

The evening will commence with a very brief Annual General Meeting after which there will be the talk by Marcus de la Poer Beresford, on The Portuguese Contribution to the Peninsular War. Marcus has recently written the definitive work on Marshal Beresford: Marshal William Carr Beresford: The ablest man I have yet seen with the army.

The event is open to all and you can choose to attend the talk only, or the talk and dinner. The dinner will be three course and include wine.

To attend for the talk only, will cost £25. The talk and dinner will be £75 for members of the Friends and £95 for non-members.

PROGRAMME

18.00 Wine reception and AGM.

18.30 Talk by Marcus de la Poer Beresford. The Portuguese Contribution to the Peninsular War.

19.30 Pre-dinner drinks: White Port and Tonic. 20.00 Dinner: with two glasses of wine included.

Menu: Kiln Roast Salmon en Gelée with Quails Egg & Roast Yellow Pepper Puree (vegetarian option) Asparagus, Fennel, Rocket & Chive with a Pink Grapefruit Dressing ~ Partridge Wellington with a Madeira Sauce Fondant Potato Pont Neuf Carrots (vegetarian option) Aubergine Cannelloni, Cous Cous with a Roast Tomato Sauce & Basil Salad ~ Strawberry & Mint Crème Brulée ~ Tea and Coffee
