Envirothon 2017 This year two teams of 5 students each attended the York Region Envirothon held just up the road at the Bill Fisch Environmental and Stewardship Center on Hwy 48. We had two amazing days that included learning in the environment as well as team testing of the content. The students had a good time, worked hard and really loved the learning opportunity. The results this year were our best ever for both teams! Good work everyone!

From the Science Department The SDSS Science Club participated in the York Region District School Board Science Olympics at Seneca@York. While they were there they participated in biology, chemistry and physics challenges against schools from around York Region. They built circuits and a roller coaster, solved biology puzzles and completed chemistry experiments. It was a great day full of exciting challenges in science. Stouffville District Secondary School attained top finishes: the Senior team finished 3rd in the physics competition; the Junior team finished 3rd in the biology competition and 2nd overall in the junior division competition. A great finish to an exciting day!

We Free the Children We Free the Children would like to thank everyone who participated in our Banana's in Pajama's breakfast buy-in last week. A healthy breakfast and good mental health break were enjoyed by the 30 students that attended and we raised $170 for the Blue Door youth shelter in Newmarket that serves York Region youth. Once again Spartans-you rock!

Prom For Grade 12 students interested in attending this year's prom scheduled for May 25, there will be one final day to

purchase tickets at school on Tuesday, May 9 during period 3 lunch. Sales will be in Room 2034. Students will

still be able to purchase tickets online until May 12. We look for to this year's prom which will be held at Le Parc Banquet Hall, 8432 Leslie St, Thornhill from 5:30pm-10:30pm.

No Parking / Designated Fire Routes PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN DESIGNATED FIRE ROUTES Any designated Fire Route needs to be clear of vehicles and ready for use by emergency vehicles. In an emergency (fire, medical, lock down etc.) time is of the essence and emergency vehicles need access. Fire Routes are signed “No Parking.” What does that mean? 1. This means that you cannot stop your vehicle and get out of the vehicle even for a short period of time.

2. You must obey the signs at all times regardless of the time of day or night. In 2017, the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville will adopt a zero tolerance approach to vehicles parked in designated Fire Routes. By-law Officers, Parking Officers, and Fire Prevention Officers will be issuing tickets when infractions are witnessed, to ensure the safety of all those using our schools and other buildings within the Municipality. If you have questions or concerns, please contact: Whitchurch-Stouffville Fire & Emergency Services at 905-640-9595 OR By-Law Department at 905-640-1900 Ext. 2258
