Year 6 Orientation Day
On Monday morning 10.00am the Year 6 children who are
moving onto Golden Bay High School next year will be
welcomed to the High School with a powhiri or maori
welcome. They will also get a chance to have a look around the
school as well as finding out their new class for 2013.
We need to leave school by 9.40am so if you are able to help
out with transport please let Kirsten know in the office. The
children will return to school just after 12.00.
Parents are most welcome to come along. The powhiri will
be held in the High School Hall.
NOW THE SHOW BEGINS!
Another round of school concerts has nearly finished and
the children have again shown great confidence on stage.
It is a good way of reporting back to parents on the
childrens oral language, drama and dance skills as well as
the confidence they bring to the stage. These skills don’t
happen overnight and for some it takes a lot of work and
effort.
We are particularly fortunate to have such a supportive
parent group who always give of their time to help with
costumes, facepainting, music and stagework, all of which are
important to putting on a good show. Thank you all for your help
it is certainly appreciated.

I like how everyone has really got into their character and our costume helped us with that! Trinity
Our costumes really made us look like
our character in the play. Bella
I was excited at first when I got the character I wanted to be but was really nervous about being in front of a lot of
people at a new venue. I’ve grown in confidence over the weeks. I feel
excited when the curtain open now. Chrystal
I find it a bit scary on stage but also exciting. I liked Room 5’s circus act when Bridie got cut in half best.
Harriett
I liked our item because it is about the Pacific Islands and my
Grandma is Raratongan. The dancing was a lot of fun and I
really liked getting dressed in our sarongs and wearing a lei.
