YOUR HELP IS NEEDED – FOR ON-GOING SUPPORT! When entering or exiting the church please
remember to check that doors are SECURELY shut and locked behind you. We are still finding doors open
throughout the church, and individuals are found wandering in the church. This not only poses a safety issue for
the staff and other people (including WEE School students), but poses a security issue for the building and
properties. This is one small thing that we can do to help ensure the safety and security of FBC and its occupants.
THY WORD IS A LAMP UNTO MY FEET
Baptists have always been referred to as “the people of the Book” because
of our commitment to the sacred nature of the Scriptures. We have been
studying an overview of the Bible on Wednesday evenings before we dive
into specific passages or story lines found in it.
Unfortunately, many believers have come to the point of taking this Holy
Book for granted, forgetting the sacrifices made to make it available to us.
For a long time, the Scriptures were only available to a particular class of
religious leaders who took the onus of passing on to the masses what they
felt was important and with varying degrees of accuracy. They were
guarding their power.
But there arose a caliber of believer who knew better. They committed
themselves to seeing that the Bible was made available to the common man
to interpret for themselves. Unfortunately, this came at a great price. For
example, John Wycliffe was religious scholar, professor, and translator who
dared to put the Scripture in the language of the people. He had other
concerns about the integrity of the Church, but the Scripture was at the heart
of his. He was consistently persecuted throughout his life. Then, 44 years
after his death by natural causes, he was declared a heretic and his bones
were rebellion dug up, burned, and thrown in the river.
William Tyndale wanted to translate the Bible into the common language so
all people could receive and appreciate it, but he was arrested and burned at
the stake. John Rogers attempted another version, but he was arrested and
executed on the order of Mary, Queen of Scots (Bloody Mary).
The list could go on and on, even into this very day, of individuals who
have dedicated themselves at great cost to make sure you and I have the
access and opportunity to explore the Word of God. That Book collecting
dust on a shelf or coffee table tells the story of life eternal, life full of
purpose and hope, life as God intended. Let’s not ignore it, but treasure it,
embrace it, learn from its pages of the amazing grace of God.
See you Sunday!

YOUTH & CHILDRENS MINISTRY CORNER
February 23. The winter retreat focus study is titled “ACT. LOVE. WALK.” based on
scripture from Micah.
Life gets tough when we don’t know what’s expected of us. We have no way of navigating what
we should and shouldn’t be doing. Without expectations, we’re like a delivery person who lost
the address for a package. He knows he’s supposed to deliver the package to someone, but he
doesn’t know where to go or who to give it to.
Thankfully, God doesn’t leave us to wander through life without any directions. He has given
us a set of expectations to show us clearly which paths will take us where we need to go.
These expectations aren’t arbitrary rules imposed on us just to make our lives harder. Quite
the opposite—God’s expectations exist to give our lives meaning and direction. One important
thing to know about God’s expectations: they can’t be faked. They have to start with serious
heart transformation that only comes from knowing Jesus Christ.
Micah 6:8 (MSG) says, “But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what GOD is looking
for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be
compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself too seriously—take God seriously.”
Act. Love. Walk. Three signs that we are being transformed from the inside out by Jesus.
Three signs to point our youth squarely in the direction that God wants them to go.

WEE SCHOOL SUNDAY Sunday, February 9th at 11:00 a.m.
One of the most exciting times of worship we have every year is our WEE School Sunday, where we recognize our staff and students of this great ministry of the church. Students and their families join us for this celebration of life and appreciation of this educational opportunity.
On Sunday, February 9th, we will host our annual WEE School Sunday. There will be only one service that morning; it will be at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. This year we will highlight a blend of traditional and contemporary worship in our fellowship. Hopefully, our guests will see that First Baptist is a diverse and progressive congregation that offers variety and diversity to meet their spiritual needs, as well as fellowship opportunities with like-minded believers and those who are still seeking.
Please join us for this special service as we show our gratitude to our WEE School staff and welcome and honor our students and their families.
Attention FBC Kids: Did you know that a special Children’s Bulletin is available for you each Sunday?
Each week we have two Children’s Bulletins – one for younger kids and one for older kids. The bulletin is full of games, puzzles, word searches, dot-to-
dots, and other fun ways to learn about God, Jesus, and the Bible. AND…they usually tie directly in with Pastor Boggs’ message for the day.
You’ll have fun doing Bible related activities while you listen and look for how Pastor Boggs talks about the stuff in your special bulletin. Grab a Children’s Bulletins in the vestibule or ask an usher where to find one.
So bring a pencil, pen, or crayon and jump in to learning about God!

Life University at FBC was created to provide resources for participants to gain knowledge,
to better themselves, and to fellowship with others from our church and community. The
main requirement for all courses is an eagerness to learn and/or develop skills.
In addition to some on-going classes, new courses will be starting soon. Course information
is available on the bulletin board near Pastor Boggs’ office or by contacting the church
office. Registration is required for each class so that instructors can properly prepare.
