Year 1D Class Assembly We were given the most amazing Geography lesson on Wednesday. Y1D started off our day by taking us on a plane journey all across the world! They showed off all of their amazing knowledge about the different continents and the weather in each. We were treated to some wonderful singing as well. Each child spoke clearly and confidently, making all of us extremely proud. Thank you to the huge number of parents and carers who came to watch. What a fantastic bunch of children Y1D are!

Key Stage 2 Reading Challenge Here are this week’s reading challenge awards: Bronze certificates were awarded to Grayson (Y3C) and Jayden & Ethan(Y6B) who received a bookmark with their certificates. Rose (Y3A), Riley (Y3C), Ava (Y5K) and Kabir (Y6B) achieved their silver award and received a notebook and pencil with their certificates. Finally, well done to Hashim and Jack K (Y4A) who received their gold certificates and chose a book to the value of £5.

Headspace Workshop Tuesday was the final Headspace workshop for 20 of our Year 4 and 5 children. For the past three weeks, they have been working with two experts in Mental Health and drama from the Thrive initiative in Bolton. Each week they have explored how different daily interactions can affect how we feel using drama techniques and conversation. At the very end of their final workshop, they presented a range of scenarios to their parents and carers and showed us how small changes in how we interact with each other can have a really positive effect. The Thrive experts were so impressed with the maturity and creativity of our children and we are certainly extremely proud of them. Because of how wonderful the children were, Thrive have offered to come in and work with a wider group of our children in the future months!

Great Fire of London Workshop On Friday, the pupils in Year Two had a visit from 'Freshwater Theatre'. They were transported backwards in time to see what life was like in Pudding Lane. They recreated the sounds, imagined the smells and took on the different job roles from Pudding Lane. They enjoyed dressing up as Samuel Pepys and performed what would have happened when he first saw the fire. The children were extremely creative throughout the visit.

Also, this week, Y2 had a special visit on Wednesday from Bolton's Fire Service. They asked the children lots of questions about The Great Fire of London and then set their cardboard buildings on fire! Abdur Rahman and the Fire Service then used the hose to put the fire out which the children were all impressed with. The fire service then showed the children around the fire engine and went through fire safety rules.

Breakfast Club A reminder that our breakfast club runs daily in the school annexe from 7:45am to 8:45am. The cost is just £1.50/day. No booking is required.

Year 6 Trip to Crucial Crew Year 6 children had an information filled morning at Crucial Crew, where they found out about how to stay safe in the community. They learned all about assessing risks and responding to dangers in a range of groups, led by the Police, RNLI, Transport Police, Bolton Lads & Girls and Green Cross Code.

Next week is Children’s Mental Health Week...

To encourage children to think about mental health, we will be teaching focussed PSHE lessons around mental well-being and mental health. On Thursday 6th February we will be taking part in ‘Inside Out Day’ and are asking children to wear an item of uniform ’Inside Out’ as a way of making us all stop and think about how someone may look OK on the outside but inside they may be feeling sad or worried.

Author Visit to Key Stage 1 This Friday we had the author and illustrator Sean Perkins coming in to share his books. He shared his books, the children asked questions and he even showed them how to illustrate your own book. If you didn’t get a chance to order

a signed book you can still order one from the office for £7.
