Admin- istered by DED on behalf of the State of Nebraska, and eligible to municipalities, the CCCFF program is designed to support communi- ties as they plan and execute projects from new city parks and aquatic centers, to restored or repurposed historic auditoriums and everything in-between that preserve, develop or improve local amenities and create a higher quality of life. Projects being awarded under the Construction category, and their descriptions, include: City of Arapahoe, Public Library Renovations, $372,172 and City of Cambridge, Municipal Swimming Pool Renovation, $310,000. CORONAVIRUS CAUSING RECESSION An overwhelming majority of bankers in rural parts of 10 Plains and Western states expect the coronavirus outbreak to push their local areas into recession, according to a new survey released Thursday. The overall index for the region plummeted from March’s already anemic 35.5 to 12.1 in April the lowest index re- corded since the survey began in January 2006. Any score below 50 suggests a shrinking economy, while a score above 50 suggests a growing economy, survey organizers say. Creighton University economist Ernie Goss, who oversees the survey, said more than nine in 10 bankers surveyed expect the measures being taken to fight the coronavirus to lead to a recession. “This is up significantly from March, when 61.3% of bankers anticipated such a recession,” Goss said. About 94% of bankers surveyed this month reported a de- cline in customer visits over the past two weeks, and nearly one- third surveyed said their bank had experienced higher loan delin- quency rates as a result of the coronavirus threat, Goss said. SPORTS McCook Community College sophomore golfer Chesney Tatman

(North Platte) was named to the National Junior College Athletic

Association all-District team this week. The team was selected by

the Golf Coaches Association of America. Tatman was also one of

three MCC golfers to be named to the All-Region IX second team

along with sophomores Kyle Zimbelman (North Platte) and KC Carl-

son (Delta, Colo.) Five golfers from Region IX were named to the

PING District I team which combines teams from Region IX and Re-

gion I (Arizona). In addition to Tatman, five members from Eastern

Arizona and four Eastern Wyoming Lancers were named to the team.

The all-Region IX team is based on points earned during the season.

This year the Covid-19 virus prevented teams from competing in the

second half of the season this spring, so the points were based on

individual performances during the fall portion of the schedule.

Eastern Wyoming also dominated the Region IX first-team with four

players selected in: Jo Vin Tan (40 points), Tomas Kubata (36 points),

Mason Hale (32 points) and Lucas Howell (28 points.)

The Nebraska volleyball program has signed a fourth incoming

freshman to its 2020 class. Keonilei Akana, a 5-9 defensive special-

ist from Hauula, Hawaii, signed her National Letter of Intent on

Thursday. Akana joins middle blocker Kalynn Meyer, setter Annika

Evans and middle blocker/opposite hitter Abby Johnson in the 2020

incoming freshman class. As an outside hitter for Kamehameha

Kapalama High School in Honolulu, Akana was named the Honolulu

Star-Advertiser Player of the Year, first-team All-Hawaii and the All-

Hawaii Girls Player of the Year. She totaled 378 kills and 403 digs as

a senior and had 22 kills in the state title match to lead Kame-

hameha to a state championship for the second time. She was

named the tournament’s most outstanding player.
