SCHOOL COUNCIL
This week saw the elections of the
School Council representatives for
each class. School Council has an
important job, representing the views and raising
issues on behalf of every child in the school. Our
Head Girl presented the 2020-21 School Council in
our virtual assembly this morning and we look
forward to working closely with them this year.
Thank you for your very generous donations to the harvest
collection. The Hammersmith and Fulham Foodbank will be
collecting the items from us soon and you can be very proud
of the fact that you are helping individuals and families who
are struggling at the moment. Your donations will be used
to help provide three-day emergency packages for
individuals and families in need.
We held our virtual harvest assembly this morning, with
every class contributing from their classroom. The children
have looked at harvest around the world and throughout
history, sharing their art, drama, poetry and IT skills with the
school. Keep and eye on the Class Dojo pages to see what
each class has been doing for the harvest.

A BIG QM
WELCOME!
We would like to welcome two student teachers to
the team: Miss Emily Houghton and Miss Amy Elliot-
Andrews. Both student are based at St Mary’s
University and will be with us part time until half
term, and then full time until Christmas. We are very
pleased to have them on the team and they are
already proving to be caring, diligent teachers! Miss
Houghton is based in Year 2 and Miss Elliot-
Andrews is based in Year 3. In January we will be
welcoming two more teachers at QM, who will
remain with us until
the end of the
year.

QM Parent Feedback – Home Learning
Thank you to all our families who completed our home learning feedback survey. Your feedback has given us plenty to consider for any future lockdowns. We’d like to share with you the results. Questions all have an average score out of 5.

We’d like to thank everyone for your messages recognising the hard work and dedication of all our staff at QM during the lockdown. We are proud to have supported our pupils and families through a very difficult time.
THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK
Thank you to everybody who responded to our recent questionnaire regarding the remote / online
learning during lockdown earlier this year. We have used the feedback to help create our remote
learning offer, which we need to have in place for any future COVID-related disruption to school
life. Such disruption could include an individual missing school whilst they await test results or
complete a period of self-isolation; a whole bubble self-isolating for 14 days due to a confirmed case within their
bubble; a whole school closure or part-closure due to local or national lockdown. We will be sharing the remote
learning plan (also called the continuity of learning plan) with you all and publishing it on our website.
FoQM NEEDS YOU!
Do you have any great ideas for
fundraising and / or enhancing the
school experience for the children
during the current restrictions?
Maybe your family have some great ideas, or even
friends with children in other schools? If so, Friends
of Queen’s Manor would love to hear your ideas.
Please contact them at [email protected] and
they will discuss your ideas with us. Let’s bring some
more joy and fun to our children!
Christmas personalised gifts
We have seen so many amazing designs for the
personalised gifts this week! Thank you all parents
and carers for your patience as we trial new ways of
working and keeping everyone safe. This year it will be
especially important to send cards or other presents
to some of the loved ones we may not see, to protect
them. So we hope you find it doubly rewarding!
Monday morning (13th October) at 9:15 will be the
last collection. So if you have not yet managed to do
it, please bring your mask, fill in the design sheet with
the info and remember your payment card. If you
absolutely cannot do it for any reasons, drop us a line
to [email protected] and we will see what we
can do.
We will confirm when everything is ready for
distribution; this is likely to be early November.
AGM
As a charity, FoQM Chairs and the committee are
responsible to all of its members. Due to
unprecedented times last spring we decided to
postpone the Annual General Meeting (AGM) from
last spring to this autumn.
We will be holding our next AGM on Friday 23rd
October between 12.00 and 12:30,over Zoom.
The agenda will cover a brief summary of what FoQM
did last year and then we will proceed to vote the
committee members and the chair.
We won’t use this session for any brainstorming, to
keep it nice and short. You can add the invite to your
calendars and receive Zoom details closer to the date.
Please use the following link to save the event.

A few weeks ago we told you
in the newsletter that we
would be putting together an
after school clubs offer. We are very pleased to tell you
that we have worked out a way to run clubs for children
from Year 1 to Year 6, in a way that fits in with the school
COVID risk assessment. We will be sending letters home
to children, outlining the clubs on offer. This term the
clubs will run for 7 weeks, starting after October half term
and running until the end of term. We will review the
clubs once again at the end of term and hope to be able
to continue with them throughout the spring and
summer terms.
WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY
Tomorrow—October 10th—is
World Mental Health Day. It is
really important that we all take time to think about our
mental health and wellbeing, as it can change
frequently and without much warning. Mind, the charity
that champions mental health and wellbeing, has some
top tips for us all, including:
Relaxing and reducing stress
Finding ways to learn and be creative
Spending time in nature
Connecting with others
Looking after our physical health
Getting enough sleep
You can find more information on their website here.
The NHS also has some very useful information for
achieving mental wellbeing on their website, here.
Year 2 went on a lovely local area walk today, to support
their wellbeing as well as their learning in phonics. It
looks like they had a lovely time!
It was fun and I learnt new words. Holly
I liked finding the different sounds. Nyah
It was really fun finding words with all the sounds we have been learning. Naomie
Monday 5th October - World Educators’ Day! This week at QM we celebrated all our amazing staff who work hard every day to educate and inspire our
pupils. We are incredibly lucky.
Vicky I feel very
privileged to be
able to help
children learn and
develop, not just
academically but
socially and
emotionally too.
Mrs Alexander
I'm proud to teach because the future of the world is in my classroom today
Mrs Naftis I teach
because every child deserves to feel happy and valued. I
want my classroom to
be every child's happy
place.
Ola I love teaching early years because every day I am a part of some monumental discoveries,
sometimes I am a partner or helper but most of the time just a witness. To see the children's excitement and enthusiasm is so rewarding. It’s like Christmas morning every day.
Lee I am proud to teach the next
generation, I love and enjoy my job and always come to work
with a smile! It makes me happy to see the children enjoying sports, running around and
having fun while learning new skills. #ProudToTeach
Miss Hayes
I'm proud to teach when I listen to the kindness
and sensitivity of the children in my class
discussing topics like climate change, wellbeing
and homelessness.
Emma #ProudToTeach .........Every day I shape the future artists,
mathematicians, dancers, scientists, musicians, bakers, writers and other professions. As part of this I get to sing,
dance, laugh, create, tell stories, inspire, motivate, problem solve, investigate and teach young minds who
have such a strong desire to learn and be happy.
Miss du Parcq
Education is a powerful thing; it opens doors, broadens our
horizons and takes us on fascinating journeys. Every child has
the right to an education and Queen’s Manor stands tall at the
very heart of its community. I am so #ProudToTeach.
Miss Layton I am #ProudToTeach because I love that every day is different; we have the best fun at school
together. All whilst knowing we are shaping the next
generation.
Miss Allen
I am #ProudToTeach because every child deserves
to have a teacher who will never give up on them
and insists they become the best they can be.
Mrs Abdillahi
I love teaching, because I get to have a real impact on the lives
of others. It is exciting, fun, challenging and full of surprises. No
two days are the same and it is a pure joy to work with
children.
Mr Canning
I love the moment you see the spark in a child’s
eye because they have suddenly understood a
new concept.
Mrs Simpson
I teach because there is no better feeling than
making a difference in the life of a child. A
teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, touches a
heart and shapes the future.
