State Objective- For the last day of the week the students will familiarize themselves with Trains that lead up into the 21st century using social networking websites developing an idea for sites that are trustworthy and what sites are not even if they may have educational purposes or information. Social networking sites can sometimes serve a great purpose through education, but also cause distraction and take away from the learning aspect. I want students to know the differences through research of a great transportation innovation which social networking sites will be helpful and effective. They will look at several different sites and realize that the 21st century is changing including tying in Globalization into the lesson. With 90% accuracy students will understand the importance of how trains have impacted transportation and develop an idea of which sites are educational and have a good use at that within two days.

Select Media and Materials- Students will be using the common social networks Twitter and Facebook creating fake accounts with a slip signed by parental knowing the educational purposes of these network usage. Information on trains and its history can be found on these sites as well as updated information that can be used. Along with the other boards that are created on the teachers account a section for trains will be shown to the students as well to be more creative an involved by voting on these pictures as done previously. We will then make a review for a Web 2.0 site of class chosen to show how not all sites are Web 2.0 and the understanding of how a site would be 2.0. The last part of selecting our materials is using a PowerPoint understanding how Globalization is used in education of the 21st century. The PowerPoint will be provided by the teacher.

Utilize Media and Materials- Twitter, Facebook, Web 2.0 and PowerPoint will all be a part of this lesson. The Twitter and Facebook accounts will be made for only educational purposes, it will contain no personal information or pictures just information on Trains and History, as well as updates. There will be links to the correct sites that are to be used for both Facebook and Twitter. As a class we look at the Train board on Pinterest that is created on teachers account. The Web 2.0 review will be as a class and we will bullet style just exactly what makes a website 2.0. The PowerPoint of Globalization will already prepared and will go over as a class finding specific and exact examples that teach how Globalization is used in education and will create that example as a class.

Require Learner Participation- The in-class activities students will par-take in are creating the two different social networking sites using false information, yet getting information from the links provided about trains, they will post on the accounts and follow each student that is in the class so they can share different or similar information as class. As a class we will write a few bulletins on a Web 2.0 site and relate it to the sties that we are using. The Globalization PowerPoint will be a closing activity of the class for that day. They will process information using the sites and as a class we will use an example of how Globalization relates to the class and participate in a class activity.

Evaluate and Revise- I will be evaluating each student for the participation in the Web 2.0 in class participation, as well as the Globalization PowerPoint. To evaluate the Twitter and Facebook pages, if any un-educational things is shown on the accounts they will receive no credit. Each student will be linked to the same accounts and must follow the teacher. Pinterest and Web 2.0 will be done on a class account controlled by the teacher and will receive a grade by participation. This lesson is about participation and being involved and aware of our surroundings and looking at different sites but also getting good information on Trains, a motive of transportation that has changed the 21st century as well.
