The Happy Puzzle Company visited Sherborne House today with children in Year 1 through to Year 6 taking part in different activities. The children enjoyed the different workshops run by the Happy Puzzle Company. They were taken on an exciting adventure to Logic Island after a ship was wrecked in a storm. They had to complete lots of different activities and puzzles that tested team work, logic and problem solving skills in order to help Captain Nathan survive being stranded. First the children had to balance stores on a wobbling pirate ship, then move boulders by fit-ting them perfectly into a dumper truck. Next they had to build a shelter by balancing blocks and connecting them together, and then catch their dinner by sorting poisonous and yummy fish. These tasks extended the children's thinking and stretched their knowledge of irregular shapes, position, balance and weight. Mrs Nessa, Miss Steers, Mrs Cliffe-Roberts and Miss Stewart were all really impressed with the communication and thinking skills in Y1 and Y2, and how well they shared the tasks and took it in turns to have a go. They showed initiative and good sportsmanship as they compet-ed to be the first teams to complete each challenge. The children are looking forward to applying their new knowledge and skills in maths lessons. Thank you FOSH for organising such an exciting and engaging workshop.

Team Cricket U10B PGS Vs SHS Venue: Portsmouth Grammar School Date: 7

th May 2014

SHS 285 PGS 319 Team: James D, Matthew C, Robert E, Ariyan K, Sean R, Sam P, Harrison A, Jim L On a windy afternoon at PGS, SHS decided to bowl first in each of the different games played. SHS started brightly with some excellent bowling and fielding which kept PGS’s score down. SHS started their batting well against a strong PGS bowling attack, scoring regularly. However, with the accuracy of PGS bowlers SHS found it difficult to score runs and subsequently had to start taking risks which led to wickets. Overall a fantastic start from a bowling and fielding point of view with more work needed on the batting. Team: Cricket U11/10A V Meoncross Venue: Home Date: 7th May 2014 SHS 269—3 Meoncross 249-4 Player of the Match: Alex D Team: Alex D, James B, Rory H, Elliott C, Tanay V, Kamran D, Luke G, Tom L, Raphael K, Finty T The U11/10A team started their league campaign confidently with a solid victory over Meoncross. With the match format following pairs cricket, the boys all bowled a good line and length. Particular note must be made of Alex’s bowling, claiming 2 wickets and 1 over. By the third pair SHS had passed the total Meoncross had scored and the final two pairs ensured victory by 20 runs. MB
