ACADEMIC POSITIONS 1. JOB TITLE: PROFESSOR– GRADE 15: KarU/HR/P/2016

• Job Description

- Teach and assess courses in one’s discipline at both undergraduate and postgraduate level

- Supervise dissertations/theses at the graduate level

- Supervise undergraduate projects and other experiential learning programmes

- Develop undergraduate and postgraduate courses

- Initiate, promote and participate in research projects and publish

- Give inaugural lectures in one’s discipline

- Provide academic leadership through programme development, mentoring and research

- Provide professional and community services including initiating linkages and

fundraising

- Carry out administrative and other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

Qualification Requirement

A Professor must have:

- Must have an earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from

accredited and recognized University;

- At least three (3) years teaching experience as an Associate Professor or equivalent; and

- A minimum of sixty (60) equivalent publication points since attaining Associate

Professorship or equivalent of which at least forty (40) should be from refereed scholarly

journals;

2. JOB TITLE: ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR– GRADE – 14: KarU/HR/AP/2016

- Attracted Research or development funds as a Senior Lecturer / Senior Research Fellow.

- Registered with a relevant professional body (where applicable);

5. JOB TITLE: DEPUTY REGISTRAR - ACADEMIC RESEARCH & STUDENT

AFFAIRS– GRADE 14: KarU/HR/DR/ARSA/2016

• Job Description

Work at this level entails planning, policy formulation and general administration of the various

administrative and/or academic activities in the University administration. In addition,

management of the various departments within the academic division with regard to the legal

instruments and regulations governing the management and administration of University

resources in general and within their respective departments, staff development and capacity

building, procurement and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.

• Job Specifications/Requirements for Appointment

- Masters Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution

- At least four (4) years relevant work experience at the level of Senior Assistant Registrar

or a comparable position.

- Knowledge of Information Communication Technology.

- Membership registration with relevant professional body.

- Should be a person of high integrity

- Doctorate Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution will be an added

advantage.

Note:

- For appointment as Deputy Registrar in the academic division, one must show evidence

• Job Description

Work at this level entails liaising with the University Librarian in planning and coordination of

library services, marketing of library through publications of bulletin, manuals and guides,

attending to official correspondence, career development and counseling, performance

evaluation, training and professional development; budget preparation and harmonization;

promotion of staff welfare and IGU activities; undertaking labour relations/public relations,

responsible for staff development and capacity building, in addition will facilitate library services

user education and any other duties as may be assigned by senior officer.

b) Requirements for Appointment

- Doctorate degree in the relevant field from a recognized institution

- At least four (4) years relevant work experience

Work at this level entails; organization and management of accounting units, directing,

controlling and coordinating of both routine and non-routine accounting matters. Interpreting

financial policies, budgetary control, management accounting and periodic financial returns, staff

development and capacity building and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.

- Masters Degree in finance or accounting field from a recognized institution

- CPA (K)

- At least seven (7) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been in a

9. JOB TITLE: CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER – GRADE 12 KarU/HR/CSO/2016

• Job Description

Work at this level entails overall in charge of Security and Safety Services, proving security

guidelines, planning and organization, management, direction, control and co-ordination of

Security Operations at the University; formulation and implementation of University security

policies; control and investigate use of illicit substances such as alcohol and drugs, Liaising with

government security agents on security matters and following up court cases; ensuring effective

security is maintained for the protection of University property, staff and students. In addition,

supervision of staff, staff development and capacity building; ensuring quality assurance

standards and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.

• Requirements for Appointment

- Bachelors Degree in a security related field from a recognized institution

- Worked in disciplined/uniformed forces as Security Officer, Chief Inspector or Captain

for at least five (5) years

- A clean record of discharge from the uniformed forces

- Demonstrate outstanding administrative ability in controlling security attendants

- Physical and mental fitness

- Current Certificate of good conduct

- Good knowledge of Information Communications Technology

Work at this level entails; maintaining accounts, monitoring expenditure and payments,

supervising bank reconciliations, preparation of financial reports and statements, preparation of

budget, financial analysis, implementation and enforcement of policies and regulations, ensure

expenditure and payments are properly authorized, supervising staff and making periodic

financial performance reports and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.

• Requirements for Appointment

- Bachelor degree in finance or accounting field and CPA III.

- At least seven (7) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must be at the level of

Assistant Accountant I or a comparable position.

11. JOB TITLE: CLINICAL OFFICER III - GRADE 9: KarU/HR/COIII/2016

• Job Description

Work at this level entails management of clinical services at the University clinics, examining,

diagnosing and treating patients at the University and referring them where appropriate to the

specialists and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.

• Requirements for Appointment

- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution

- At least two (2) years relevant work experience

- Valid registration certificate with the relevant professional body

12. JOB TITLE: SENIOR TECHNICIAN III - GRADE 8: KarU/HR/STIII/2016

Job Description

Work at this level entails: supervising Technologists, collection and preparation of teaching and

research materials, preparation of tools, equipment and machines; obtaining and setting of

equipment for practical and demonstrations; ensuring safe keeping and disposal of waste. In

addition, will assist teaching staff and students in carrying out various laboratory/workshop and

field activities and carrying out basic routine analysis in any relevant discipline in the

laboratory/workshop, carrying out basic maintenance of laboratory/workshop equipment; and

any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.

• Requirements for Appointment

- Higher National Diploma in a relevant field or its equivalent from a recognized institu-

tion.

- At least six (6) years relevant laboratory/Workshop working experience.

- Knowledge in information communication technology

- First Aid and Occupational Health and Safety Training

13. JOB TITLE: SENIOR LIBRARY ASSISTANT II – GRADE 8: KarU/HR/SLAII/2016

• Job Description

Work at this level entails issuing publications to library clients; verification of bibliographical

details, shelve reading and weeding, classifying, acquisition and procuring of library materials.

In addition, circulating catalogues, short loans reservations, receiving and recording journals,

registering and clearing users, keeping statistics for borrowed publications; conducting reference

searches, formulating user education and orientation programmes and any other duties as

assigned by a senior officer.

• Requirements for Appointment

- Higher National Diploma in Library or Information Studies from a recognized institution

- At least three (3) years relevant work experience

- Good knowledge of Information Communication Technology

14. JOB TITLE: SENIOR SECURITY ASSISTANT II – GRADE 8: KarU/HR/SSAII/2016

• Job Description

Work at this level entails: General Security duties; prevention and detection of crime; and

apprehension of crime offenders; Preserving the scenes of crime, investigation in area of

supervision; Collection of intelligence; Escort duties Investigating rape cases, fraud, Staff

supervision; prevention and detection riots, coordination of emergency response, evacuation and

first aid coordination and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.

• Requirements for Appointment

- Diploma in a security related field from a recognized institution.

- Worked in disciplined/uniformed forces as an Inspector for at least five (5) years.

Work at this level for Housekeeping services entails: co-coordinating with senior officers, to

ensure that smooth flow of supplies and necessary repair works are carried out in the institution’s

hostels. Other duties entail maintaining high standard of cleanliness in the hostels; supervising

employees working under him/her; and enforcing policy regulations on visiting hours in the

students’ hostels and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.

• Requirements for Appointment

- Diploma from a recognized institution in the relevant field

- At least six (6) years working experience

- Knowledge of Information Communication Technology

- Certificate in first aid training.

- Higher National Diploma in a relevant field is an added advantage

16. JOB TITLE: LIBRARY ASSISTANT II – GRADE 6: KarU/HR/LAII/2016

a. Job Description

Work at this level entails: shelving, circulation tasks and information outreach activities;

cataloguing, classification; preparation of books pockets, spine marking, recording and analyzing

work statistics, compilation of accession lists; OPAC’s and CD-ROMS including electronic

information searching for library users; and sending reminder notices for overdue publications,

and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.

• Requirements for Appointment

• Diploma in Library or Information Studies from a recognized institution;

• At least six (6) years relevant work experience.

• Good knowledge of Information Communication Technology.

17. JOB TITLE: TECHNICIAN II - GRADE 6 : KarU/HR/TECHII/2016

• Job Description
