Universal Connector

A Universal Connector will allow the patient with a Fresenius Safe-Lock PD system to use Baxter supplies while in the hospital.

4. Remove sealing cap from large end of Universal Connector. 5. Attach Universal Connector to patient’s catheter6. Remove the sterility protector from the small end of the Universal Connector.

7. Remove the sterility protector from the Baxter extension set.

8. Attach the Baxter extension set to the Universal Connector. Proceed with exchange.

Typical connection and use of the Universal Connector

• The patient should return to his/her home or clinic with the additional extension in place. This practice will allow the patient to return home and resume dialysis without interruption.

• Instruct the patient to remove any adaptors added to their extension set at the beginning of the next exchange or as directed by the PD clinic nurse.
