Care of Timber Doors and frames on site• Pleasecheckdoors,frameandsillattimeofdeliverytoensure
thattheyareacceptableandingoodcondition.Ifyoufindacomponentmissingordamagedpleaseinformyoursupplierimmediately.Wekeepreplacementcomponentsofmostsetpartsandthesecanbesentouttoyouquickly.Thiswillsaveyouhavingtore-packageandreturnthewholeset,andallowsyoutocontinuewiththeproject.
• Whenstoringpriortoinstallationthedoorsandframesshouldbekeptintheirpackaging,handledwithcareandstoredinadry,ventilatedbuilding.Doorsandframesshouldbestoredflatonalevelsurface(notonedgeoronend).
• Doorsshouldnotbestoredorfittedinthebuildinguntilthewettradessuchasplastering,paintingetc.Havebeencompletedandtheroomisdriedout.
• TheFrenchpatiodoorsetsaremanufacturedusingengineeredtimbercomponentsforadditionalstability.Eachframeanddoorismanufacturedwithahardwoodcorelaminatedandfingerjointedtogether,facedwithOakLVLVeneerorhardwoodveneer.
• Thecompletesetispre-machinedinthefactory,readytoreceivethehardwareandonlyrequiressiteassemblyandinstallationintothebrickworkopening.SomefurtheradjustmentofthehingecutoutsmaybenecessaryasexplainedinPart9oftheseinstructions.
The properties of timber• Notwotreesproduceidenticalgrainsorcolourofwoodand
thisaddstothebeautyofanaturalproduct.Wethereforecannotguaranteethatalldoorsandframecomponentswilllookexactlythesameingrainandcolour.Warpingofwoodisnotadefectifitdoesnotexceed1/4inch(6mm)initsinstalledposition.
Maintaining the doors and frame• Wesuggestadditionaltreatmentandfinishingmayberequired
atleastonceayearorsoonerifthereisanyindicationofdeteriorationinthewoodprotectivefinishused.
Trimming• GenerallythisFrenchDoorSetisnotdesignedtobetrimmed
onsiteandshouldbefittedassupplied.However,packingoutorlettinginofthehingesmayberequired.SeePart9oftheseinstructions.
Conditions of Sale• Weshallnotbeheldresponsibleforanyincidentalwork
expensesarisingoutoforbecauseofanydefectinourproduct,orbadworkmanshiptoourproduct.Intheeventofthegoodshavingmanufacturingdefectsandrequiringreplacement,ourliabilitywillbelimitedtothevalueofthedoororframeorhardwarecomponentonly.Thesenotesdonotaffectyourstatutoryrightswiththeretailerofthisproduct.
Allproductsmustbeinstalledinaccordancewithacceptedgoodtradepractice(andinaccordancewithsuppliedinstructionswhereapplicable),andmaintainedinaccordancewiththeseproceduresorelsethewarrantyshallbevoid.
Pre-finishing with wood stain / paint
Therangeofpatiodoorshavebeenfactorypre-finishedusingmicroporouswoodfinishandopaquewhitepaint.
Eachsetreceives3coatsoffinishcomprisingabasecoatand2topcoats.
Thefinishshouldberegularlyinspectedevery3monthsandre-coatedwhennecessary,tomaintainthedecorativecoatingandprotectionoftheproduct.
AsageneralguidewhitesetshaveahigherUVResistance,soshouldneedre-coatinglessfrequently,whereastheClearfinishhasmorelimitedUVResistanceandwillneedre-coatingevery3monthsto2yearsdependingonexposurelevels.

(iii)Dependingonwhetherthedoorsopeninorout,andwhichisthefixedoropeningdoor,thecentrelatchofthelockmayneedtobereversed.
Toreversethelatch,fitthespindlethroughthelock,loosefitahandleandliftthehandleupwardssothelockisengaged.
Inthismoderemovethe2screwsfromthelatch,removeandreverseit,thenreplacethescrews.SeeFig13
(iv)Fitthehandlesandspindlestoboththefixedandopeningdoors.Tooperatethelock,liftthehandleupwardstoitsfullestextent,thenturnthekey.Tounlock,turnthekey,thenpressthehandledownwardsSeeFig14

8 (i) FittheStormguardCill,ontopoftheTimberCillinbetweentheFrameJambs.TheendsoftheCillarecutouttofitaroundtheJambsoftheFrame.
UseSiliconeSealant(notsupplied)totheundersideoftheStormguardSlimlineCill,thenfixittothetopoftheTimberCill,usingthescrewsprovided,addingablobofSiliconeundereachscrewhead,beforetightening.Fig15andFig16.
(ii)SiliconesealaroundtheedgeoftheStormguardCillwhereitmeetsthedoorframejambstoensureawaterproofseal.
(iii)FittheLockKeepontotheStormguardCill,overthemachinedpositionandsecurewithtwoM425mmscrewsintheslotsonly.Repeatthisprocedureforthekeepwhichfitsintotheundersideoftheframehead.Nowhangthedoorsandifnecessary,adjustthekeeplocationuntilboththeslaveandmasterlocksoperate.Finally,usetheadditionalM425mmfixingscrewstocompletelysecurethetopandbottomkeepinpostion.Fig15andFig16.

9 Closethedoorsandchecktheyfittogethercorrectlyinthecentre,withoutgapsorwithoutbeingtootight.Ifthedoorsaretootightatthecentre,letthehingesintothedoorsandframesmorebycarefullyenlargingthemachinedpositionwith
achiseluntilthedoorsfit.
Ifthecentregapistoolarge,packoutthehingestoreducethegap.

FixtheLeftandRightJambs,intotheFrameHead,asdetailedinSection2.
FixtheMobilityAccessCillontothebottomoftheFrameJambs,throughthepre-drilledholesintheCill,ensuringtheFrameissquareandtheinternalwidthoftheframeisexactlythesameatthebottom,asitisatthetop.
PlacetheHeadExtenderontopoftheFrameHead,sealouteredgewithsilicone,thenscrewandgluetheHeadExtenderontotheFrameHead.
ImportantApplysiliconesealantaroundthejointbetweentheCillandinsideoftheFrameJambs.
InstalltheassembledframeintothebrickworkopeningasdetailedinSection3.
Normally,theMobilityAccessCill,wouldbeontopofan18mmSoftwoodorPlywoodbatten.
Very ImportantTocomplywithpartMDisabilityAccessRegulations,theMobilityAccessCillmustbelevel,withthetopoftheexternalsurface.i.e.The‘upstand’fromfloorlevel,istheCillonly.

Positionthebottomofthesideliteintothegrooveinthebottomoftheframe.
Centralisesideliteposition.
Removethebackingfilmfromtheadhesivefoamtape,bypullingtheturnedovercorners.
SecurethesidelitetightinpositionusingtheM560mmscrewsprovided.
Ifinexposedlocationapplysealantaroundtheoutsideperimeterjointbetweensideliteandframe.
Takethe4piecesofinternalbeadandbendover1corneroftheprotectivefilmoftheadhesivetape.
Placethebeadinposition,removethefilmatthesametimeasapplyingpressure,sothetapestickstothesidelite.
Repeattheprocessfortheother3piecesofbead.
Ifadditionalpressureisrequiredusestainlesssteelpins,takingcarenottodamagethefinish.
