Az-MERIT/Grade Enhancement
Attention Fremont Parents: The AzMERIT assessment will be given during the
month of April. Specifically, the ELA/writing test will be given April 2 and 3rd. Reading
and mathematics portions will be given April 19-20 and April 23-24. Also, the 8th
grade AIMS Science test will be administered on the morning of April 5. All students
have been preparing for these assessments during the month of March. Please
encourage your students to do their best on every test, and make sure that your child
is not absent or late on testing days.
Grade Enhancement If you take the assessment and score proficient/meets standards, you can raise your
course grade (both semesters) up one level, up to a B. If you score highly proficient or
exceeds standards and have a B, you could raise your grade to an A. You can only ben-
efit from this. If you score below proficient/meets standards, your grade cannot be
lowered. If you have any questions, visit the web page, mpsaz.org/azmerit/grade.

Fremont Receives Shade Structure Grant Congratulations Fremont!
Fremont has been named the recipient of a 2018 Shade Structure Program Grant by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). The grant will provide up to $ 8,000 for the purchase and installation of a permanent shade structure over the lunch area. Fremont is one of several organizations this year to receive a grant from the AAD’s Shade Structure Program.
Children and teens are especially vulnerable to the damaging effects of the sun because of their time spent outdoors. Seeking shade is an easy way to reduce the risk of skin cancer. In addition to seeking shade, the Academy recommends everyone protect their skin from the sun by covering up and wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
