For New
Years Eve,
we burned
the old
man. This
is an
Ecuadorian
tradition in
which aneffigy of a
man is
built and
stuffed
with straw
or sawdust.
A mask
resembling a political figure is usually
added. The old man represents the
past year, and when you burn the old
man, you are letting go of all things
past and looking forward to the future.
We believe that is a very good messagefor the children of Casa de Fe. Let go
of the past. Look forward to the future.

Christmas morning at our house. Notice Jesses scowl!
Happy New Year! By the time you
receive this, it will likely be Valentines
Day, so Ill go ahead and say it, Feliz
Dia de Amor. As they celebrate it here
in Ecuador, Happy Day of Love.
As usual, it has been a busy few months
here at Casa de Fe. While Thanksgiving
is not a traditional Ecuadorian holiday,we couldnt pass up the opportunity to
share a day of giving thanks with our
CdF family. We made a Thankful Tree
and decorated it with leaves of thanks
written by the kids and adults.
Just like in the US, December was over-
flowing with activities. We attended our
churchs Christmas party, our childrens
performance in the Nate Saint Mission-
ary School Christmas play, our annual
CdF staff Christmas party, and a Christ-mas program put on by the children of
Casa de Fe and the school staff. Our
kids also went caroling around Shell
with the Nate Saint school. We enjoyed
Christmas morning at home and the
rest of Christmas Day at Casa de Fe.

We are providing care for 1 children . Please pray for their emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Casa de Fes budget is 41 000 per month. You can help by making a donation or sponsoring a child at
lacasadefe.org/sponsor-a-child.
Dolly and Juliana (tube-fed children)have been completely weaned off their PediaSure diets and are thriving on afull ketogenic diet. It is amazing to see the physical and cognitive changes happening in them. Our next step is to
transition ayana and Linet (also tube-fed)from PediaSure to real food. Please pray that we make a smooth tran-sition and that the tias are willing and able to learn how to prepare these special meals for these special girls.
We are in search of a hristian psychologist and social worker . We are required by Ecuadorian law to employthese staff positions, but several months of searching have turned up empty. Please pray that we find the right
people to fill these roles soon.
Adolescence and growing up is never easy, no matter the circumstances; but, the circumstances (abandonment,
abuse, etc.)of the CdF children tend to compound those otherwise normal difficulties. Please pray that we can
love these kids well and point them to Christ. Pray that they will come to understand His love for them and their
identity in Him. Needs can change week to week, but at this point in time, please pray specifically for AbigailMaria and Veronica. We have several staff needs includingEnglish teachers an art teacher and a music teacher . An on-siteT person
would be a huge blessing. AND we are in the preliminary stages
of seeking out ouse parents . If you are interested in more infor-mation about any of these positions, please contact Christy at
We have already seen teams in 2014 with many more tocome. Please pray that we will minister well to them as they min-
ister at Casa de Fe. If you are interested in visiting or bringing a
team, contact us or Christy at [email protected].
