Free trial of OMMBID: Online Metabolic and Molecular Bases of Inherited Disease Scriver's OMMBID from McGraw-Hill Medical is an essential online resource delivering comprehensive coverage of the genes and genetic mechanisms underlying human disease states.

Based on the world’s most respected book on the subject, Metabolic and Molecular Bases of Inherited Disease, first published in 1960, Scriver's OMMBID is an indispensable digital reference tool.

It provides geneticists, researchers, students, clinicians, and fellows involved with the causation and treatment of inherited diseases -- with cutting edge information spanning the entire field of genetics.

Much more than a literature synopsis, OMMBID provides the latest knowledge on the metabolic and molecular underpinnings of a growing list of inherited diseases – as well as updates on pathophysiology and treatment. Try this product until 5 June, share this information with your colleagues, and give us your feedback.

Clinicians Health Channel updates The Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Medicines Guide (PBMG) from the Royal Women’s Hospital is this month’s featured resource on the Clinicians Health Channel. You can access it from the Library website; use your OpenAthens login for remote access.

PBMG is a quick reference guide for healthcare professionals which provides practical and unbiased information on medicine use in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Recent updates include ten new medicines profiles, three new therapeutic groups, and four new patient information fact sheets.

Over 400 medicine profiles and seven patient information fact sheets have been reviewed and updated.

In changes to Therapeutic Guidelines, the eTG Endocrinology guidelines have been split into three separate guidelines: Diabetes, Bone and Metabolism, and Sexual and Reproductive Health. Diabetes version 1 covers all types of diabetes, new information on hospital and community management options, a comparative drug table, and handy information sheets.

Content in the other two titles will be updated later this year. The revised Ulcer and Wound Management version 2 focuses on individualized patient-centred therapy, includes advice on optimizing the treatment and prevention of common ulcers and wounds including skin tears, surgical wounds, and abrasions. It also includes a new topic on minor burns and a guide to starting compression therapy.

recent research and current clinical practice, this new edition covers all aspects of normal and abnormal embryonic and fetal development. In a clear, concise manner and lavishly illustrated throughout, this textbook is designed to successfully meet the needs of medical and health sciences profession students, as well as those in graduate programs. It provides an easy-to-digest, comprehensive review of what can be a complex and challenging subject.

[online] Fundamentals of pediatric surgery / Peter Mattei, editor. 2nd ed. Springer, 2017. As well as encompassing the most up-to-date and practical clinical information for the experienced

surgeon written in a straightforward narrative style, each chapter provides a rationale for the proposed approach based on the scientific evidence available in the literature and the author’s personal clinical experience, supplies a detailed algorithm or clinical protocol in a graphic format, initiates a discussion regarding unanswered questions and proposals for future studies, and includes a list of suggested readings. Chapters cover in great detail a broad range of pediatric general surgery topics, including disorders of all major organ systems of the abdomen and thorax, congenital anomalies presenting in the newborn period, and a variety of maladies germane to the growing field of fetal surgery. The authors also provide authoritative discussions of therapeutic methods and surgical techniques that range from the traditional to the modern, including time-honored open operations, contemporary minimally invasive interventions, and emerging technologies such as single-site and robotic surgery.
