Chapter 13 Summary


Ch.13 Continued• Realizes that this is the Gamemakers twist to

add to the games• She has to dodge fireballs launched toward her

Hair gets singed off• Legs and hands are burned• Has to rip her pants leg

from her skin


Ch. 13 Continued

• She thinks the Gamemakers must be laughing at her because she is literally the “girl on fire”

• Finds pool of water

to wash her wounds


Ch. 13 Continued

• Decides to stay at the pool of water and doesn’t care if Careers discover her

• Katniss hears the Careers coming and gets down from tree and starts running

• She climbs high up into a tree• Cato and Glimmer attempt to climb up tree after

Katniss and fail• Peeta is with them and says she can’t go

anywhere so they decide to camp out and wait for her to devise a plan to kill her


Ch.13 Continued

• Katniss decides to get some rest and is trying to fall asleep when she hears animals

• She looks over and sees eyes glaring at her• She realizes these are human eyes• Rue points up at something….


Chapter 14 Summary

• Rue points up to a Tracker Jackers nest.

• Katniss attacks the careers with the nest.

• Katniss gets balm from Haymitch for her burn on her leg and hands

• Katniss tells Rue to escape.


Ch. 14 Coninued

• Glimmer and the girl from District 4 dies from tracker jackers stings.

• While careers and Peeta runs to lake, Katniss goes back to Glimmer to grab the bow and arrow from Glimmer's clutch.


Ch. 14 Continued• Katniss is also badly stung by the tracker jackers and is

starting to hallucinate.• Peeta comes back from the lake with Cato coming

behind him and tells Katniss to run for her life.• Katniss realizes that Peeta Mellark has saved her life

again.


Chapter 15 Summary

• Katniss has hallucinations by tracker jacker venom• Has thoughts of Gale as she comes out of her delusions• The idea of Peeta saving her life pops into her head, as

well• She remembers she was able to obtain the bow and

arrows


Ch. 15 Continued

• Weak and dehydrated, she seeks water and finds a shallow stream

• She shoots a rabbit while she was searching for water• She bathes and takes a moment to compose herself• She also shoots a wild bird, resembling a turkey• She builds a fire to cook her game and is startled by a

sound in the brush


Ch. 15 Continued• Rue has followed her• Katniss invites Rue to join her in her meal and

as an ally• Rue is from the agriculture district, District 11,

so she has the right herbs to help Katniss with her stings

• Katniss shares her ointment

with Rue for a burn

on her arm


Ch. 15 Continued

• They discuss the different lifestyles of their districts• They take inventory of their supplies• Rue explains what the glasses are for that Katniss

believes are useless• They make their bed in a tree• Katniss tries the glasses and can’t believe how clearly

she can see in the darkness• Rue explains that the Careers keep their supplies down

by the lake and Katniss develops a plan…
