What is a MOOC?

• Massive: up to 100,000 participants at a time

• Open: FREE!

• Online: Online

• Course: within broadest possible terms

What is a MOOC?

Expansive and diverse set of content, contributed by a variety of experts, educators, and instructors in a specific field, and then aggregated into a central repository.

What is a MOOC?

Engagement is a key feature, whereby content is not just about information but what can be done with it, providing a platform for interaction and discussion

• University of Tasmania’s first MOOC

• Addressing need for high quality dementia education to improve standard of care

• 87% rated pilot good or excellent

• 88% stated that they would be interested in completing the full course
