Monday 22 October 2012 Edition 33 Week 3 Term 4

The past week again highlighted the broad range of learning experiences on offer at Franklin Public School. Consider: • The choir performing at the Sydney Opera House. • Three athletes competing in the NSW PSSA carnival. • Stage 2 students’ participation in a maths enrichment

day in Wagga. • Shortie’s Shakers – a cultural (dance) program for K-2

Aboriginal students. • The commencement of community sport. • The MultiLit program to enhance literacy skills. • The Camp Quality EsCARpade visit.

These examples clearly demonstrate this school’s commitment to providing an education that supports the development of skill, knowledge and talent in all curriculum areas.

AWESOME ATHLETES – NSW REP Franklin students can be very proud of the achievements in the NSW PSSA Carnival at Homebush. Tikirah Douglas recorded a time of 16.22 seconds the 8

yrs 100m and had the honour of running in the same lane as Cathy Freeman did in the Sydney Olympics.

Josh Kell was very busy competing in three events. In the junior high jump he recorded 1.30m, 3.99m in shot put and 30.77seconds in the 200m.

Kirsty Marlowe-Sheedy was placed 2nd in the 11years shot put and received the silver medal with a distance of 10.72m. Kirsty will now travel to Adelaide in November to compete in the Athletics Interstate Championship.

HELP KIRSTY get to ADELAIDE The levy for this carnival is $1,100. Buy a ticket ($2) in the PSSA raffle. First prize Laptop Notebook + 4 other prizes. Call in to the office OR enclose money in envelope, write your name, address and mobile/telephone number on it.
