Franklin H.S. Parent Newsletter Fall 2020 PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME Dear Parents/Guardians: Welcome to the 20-21 school year! There is no doubt this will be a historic school year as we are opening school for the rst time in the history of education, in a virtual/distance learning format. As we start this year of school we face unprecedented challenges in our community. The Coronavirus pandemic has disrupted our entire society. We know this crisis has been challenging for everyone. However, we are committed to making sure that our school will continue to serve as a place of hope, connection, and support for our Franklin community. Our goal is to do all that we can to provide high quality teaching and learning as safely as possible for our students and our staff. This summer has been long and full of anxiety for all of us, but now we have a plan for moving forward we are excited to establish a daily routine of teaching and learning. In late July, I shared with you the sample of our Distance Learning schedule. This newsletter will have copies of our Franklin High School Distance Learning schedules. The valuable feedback from both students and parents regarding Distance Learning provided us the opportunity to create a newly enhanced format that provides regularly scheduled instructional time for students with their teachers, during school hours. Your student will be responsible for attending and participating in each one of their classes during that time on their schedule. Counselors are still working on student schedules and we anticipate having them ready for students no later than Friday, August 7, 2020. We will continue our commitment to building connections with students and families while also maintaining the wide variety supports we currently offer such as meal distribution, virtual school-wide activities, individual social-emotional support, academic interventions and technology accessibility. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions or concerns. We recognize and acknowledge the daunting task of distance learning, looks very, very different for all of us, but know that we are here to provide support. We look forward to meeting you in our digital platforms at meetings and school wide events. We believe above all else that we are stronger as a united community and together there is no challenge we cannot overcome. We are the mighty, mighty Wildcats! Sincerely, Chantelle Albiani Principal Franklin High School
