NRL
Today we had an exciting visit from
James Smart, the NRL Development
Officer, who brought along Nathan
Hindmarsh a Parramatta Eels football
legend. They addressed all students
at an assembly today. The students
were pleased to be involved in some
photo opportunities with the sporting
great.
A BIG Thank You to all of the staff and students who
represented Franklin School on ANZAC Day.
The day began with Colby and Natalie reading the names
of local soldiers killed in action during World War 1 at
the dawn service. Students marched in the Anzac Parade
and the school choir sang “Lest We Forget” at the
cenotaph. Joey and Tikirah read a prayer and Rhys and
Riley laid the wreath.
THE FESTIVAL OF THE FALLING LEAF PARADE
Franklin will be entering a float in the Festival of the
Falling Leaf Parade this Saturday 30th of April. As is it
themed around our birthday celebrations, we would like
as many students to represent our school
by marching in the parade.
We have asked the students to wear
colourful party clothes for the parade
and to wear a glitter hat if possible.
Students have been asked to meet staff in
the Richmond Park at 11:30am where we will be
marshalled in readiness for the parade.
Look for the whirly gigs!
Your child will have their name marked off and then
supervised until we complete the parade march. Your
child/children will need to be collected straight after the
parade in the Merrivale/Russell Street area.

Last term there was a sea of duct tape as Franklin students gathered class by class to enthusiastically help to tape Mr T.
The spirit of fun was evident by the amount of cheering for Mr T coming from the students. A massive $441 was raised
on the day!

Netball Gala Day Tuesday 5th
April 2016
Riley Hillier, Jayde Randall, Sharlie Thomas, Jade Reinders,
Bethany Rapley, Natalie Erbacher, Sophie Day, Tikirah
Douglas, Ella Bradshaw and Abby Sutton travelled to the
netball courts on Tuesday to compete in the NSW Netball
Schools Cup.
We played four games throughout the day against Tumut
Public, Gundagai and McAuley. Our first game was against a
Tumut Public Team. Our girls defence was phenomenal and
the shooters were on fire. We won this game 10-3. Our next
game was against McAuley where we won 6-3. Our third
game was against Tumut Public, who proved to be hard
competition. Our girls played extremely well and didn’t give
up the whole game, persisting in attack and defence. The final
game we played Gundagai Public School. We were exhausted
in the hot temperatures and Gundagai was strong competition.
This game was tough and the scores were neck and neck the
entire game, with Gundagai just pulling ahead at the end.
At the end of the day, six of our girls trialled for the
Highlands team with three selected: Tikirah Douglas, Riley
Hillier and Ella Bradshaw. They will compete in Albury early
in Term 2.
A huge thank you to Lauren Hawkin for umpiring for us for
the day and the parents who came to support and score.
Without you, this day wouldn’t run as smoothly..
