WAS THE TOMBEMPTY?

In September 2002,there was sensationalnews: by order of theVatican, a preparato-ry exhumation wasconducted for theBeatification ofPadre Pio having asa supervisor, Cardi-nal Silvio Oddialong with other wit-nesses.When Padre Pio’s coffin was openedit was found completely empty, ex-cept for three objects: his robe, hiswhite cincture and his Franciscansandals. There was neither dust norany residue of deteriorated remains.It was Anne Cillis, President of theNational Institute of Padre Pio inCanada and spiritual daughter ofPadre Pio, who launched this newswith her article: “St. Padre Pio’sBody Not Found in His Tomb?”which appeared in the American Tra-ditionalist Catholic journal “CatholicFamily News,” in September 2002.Here, in short, is the story.

empty tomb story and all three agreedthat, at the time of the exhumation,“Nothing was said, except that theyclosed the coffin and said nothing toanyone.” The rumors about the“empty tomb,” however, spreadamong the traditionalist Capuchins ofEurope, including Father Pulverma-cher who, in the interview I had withhim, told me that all of them, with-out exception, believed in the truth-fulness of the history of the “EmptyTomb.”Father Carl Pulvermacher, OFM,Cap., who is very well known in theUnited States and Canada, wasadamant in his convictions on theempty tomb, and referred me to speakwith Robert and Cristina di Ceccowho lived in Connecticut.I contacted these two people andlearned that Card. Oddi had re-

vealed the facts of the exhumationto a priest friend, Chamoine de Por-ta of France, who, also a friend of thefamily of the di Cecco’s. He toldthem, word for word and withevery detail, everything that Card.Oddi had told him.»«In 1998, I organized one of my pil-grimages to Italy, having San Giovan-ni Rotondo as a privileged destinationand I contacted a dear friend, PadreGiuseppe Pio (formerly Bill Martinfrom Brooklyn, New York) of theconvent of San Giovanni Rotondo,which I remember very well becauselater I was told that he was one of thewitnesses of the discovery of the“Empty Tomb” of Padre Pio, alongwith Card. Oddi.In October 2002, I organized anotherpilgrimage that included a visit to SanGiovanni Rotondo.

Meanwhile, our dear friend, PadreGiuseppe Pio, died.This happened in 2000 and his deathwas sudden and unexpected. Fromwhat we were told, one evening hewas taken to the Casa Sollievo dellaSofferenza and the next morning hewas already dead! He was only 61years old.Another witness to the discovery ofthe “Empty Tomb” was Padre AlessioParente. But he too, unfortunately,died suddenly, in the same year2000.It was on October 26, 2002, just amonth after the publication of my ar-ticle on the “Empty Tomb” in theAmerican magazine “Catholic FamilyNews” that after visiting the tomb inthe crypt, we went to the office for theEnglish-speaking pilgrims, when Fr.Ermelindo, interrupted us as we werewatching some films, and suddenlysaid: “We are sorry, folks, but don’task for relics. There are no relics ofPadre Pio, not yet. His grave is stillundisturbed; in fact, it has not beenopened yet and Padre Pio will be ex-humed only when our wonderful“new church” is completed. We intendto place his body on two columns forthe faithful to venerate.” I wasamazed! This was such a blatant liethat I even struggled to believe what Ihad just heard.After the publication of my article onthe “empty tomb,” in the “CatholicFamily News,” I was bombarded withphone calls from readers who, in theend, always raised the same crucialquestion: «Well, then what hap-pened to the body of Padre Pio, ifhe’s not in his coffin anymore?».Here ends the story from Anne’s arti-cle.

Cardinal Silvio Oddi died on June 29,2001 and it was rumored that he wasill or had cancer.After the discovery of the mysteriousdeaths in 2000 of the two friars, Padre

Giuseppe Pio and Padre Alessio Par-ente, witnesses of the empty tomb ofPadre Pio, Fr. Villa wanted to see thisthing through.We went to Morfasso where family ofthe Cardinal Silvio Oddi lived and wedrove to the “Bar Oddi” where wemet the new parish priest of the area:Fr. Pier Antonio Oddi, nephew of theCardinal.After a visit to the tomb of his uncle,

he spoke to us about his ordinationand his travels abroad, then he gaveus a beautiful photograph of the Car-dinal as a gift.Before he left, due to a commitment,the parish priest called the wife of theyoungest nephew of the cardinal, whotold us that her husband was a driverto his uncle accompanying him, how-ever, mainly abroad, while for travelin Italy, Card. Oddi had anotherdriver from Rome, Mr. Franco Sas-so, who had died from a heart oper-ation, the exact date he did not re-member, but indicated that it was inthe year, 2000.On the subject of the Cardinal’s ill-ness, the lady told us that the Cardi-nal had no illness; “He suffered a lit-tle from lack of circulation andParkinson’s,” but the cause of hisdeath had been a fall in the house,which occurred in the late 1999-2000, which caused a hematoma inthe back of his head which had putpressure on the brain, and causedserious problems.Then she added that the Cardinal hadprostate surgery, but insisted that thisoperation presented no danger, whilethe serious danger was the conditionscaused by the hematoma in the head.

She assured us that the Cardinal’sdeath had been caused precisely bythat fall!

The Capuchins of Sant’Angelo-Foggia bid their last farewell to the body of Fr. Alessio Parente,who also died suddenly in the year 2000.

On the order of the Vatican, Card. Silvio Oddimade a preparatory exhumation for the beatifi-cation of Padre Pio with some witnesses and,to their amazement, they found the tomb emp-ty. In a short time, Card. Oddi, his chauffeurand the witnesses died. The cardinal, however,recounted this experience to people whom hetrusted.

GIAMBATTISTA MONTINI

Giambattista Montini, ordained apriest on May 29, 1920, continued hisstudies at the Pontifical GregorianUniversity.At the Pontifical Academy of Ecclesi-astical Nobles, he became friends,which marked his life, with the Sicil-ian, Mariano Rampolla del Tindaro,great-nephew of Card. MarianoRampolla who died in 1913 and,from the documents found in his of-fice, turned out to be the head of theOrdo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.) [Or-der of Oriental Templars], the institu-tion of the Illuminati of Bavaria thatpromotes Satanic corruption as anindispensable means for obtainingcontrol of VIP’s in high-level environ-ments.In 1923, Montini was commissionedby Pius XI to take care of the RomanUniversity Circle (CUR).In October 1924, Montini was calledto work in the Secretariat of State inthe offices of Msgr. Giuseppe Piz-zardo, Card. Pietro Gasparri andMsgr. Francesco Borgognini-Duca,First Papal Nuncio after the signing ofthe Lateran Pacts and friend of Ange-lo Roncalli.In October 1925, Montini was ap-pointed National Ecclesiastical As-sistant of the Italian Catholic Uni-versity Federation (FUCI).In 1926, Montini was listed as a ho-mosexual by the Vice Squad of Mi-lan.On February 12, 1933, a Jesuit fatherdiscerned in the apostolate of Msgr.Montini in the FUCI, “a disturbingencroachment within the frame-work of its members.” Montini wasforced to resign, which was effectiveon March 12, 1933.From the archives of the Italian Min-istry of the Interior, it appears that theFUCI National Ecclesiastical Assis-tant, Msgr. Montini, had beencaught, with a person of the same sex,

in a public urinal performing ob-scene acts against morality.In 1934, Montini went to Englandwith his friend, Msgr. Rampolla delTindaro, nephew of the Head of theO.T.O., Card. Rampolla. At that time,Montini made friends with peoplewho shared the same sexual orienta-tion: Hugh Montgomery, brother ofthe famous artist, Peter Mont-gomery, a long-time homosexualpartner of the Cambridge spy, Antho-ny Blunt, who then passed into theSoviet camp. Another was VisconteEvan Tredegar, who enjoyed titillat-ing his friends with stories about hissexual and occult feats, including hisdirect experiences in Black Massesusing human blood, urine and se-men. Tredegar, who later returned toEngland, kept a photograph of theyoung Monsignor Montini “cheek tocheek with a handsome sailor.”

On December 16, 1937, Montini wasappointed Deputy to the Secretariat ofState, under the Secretary of State,Card. Eugenio Pacelli.On March 2, 1939, Pacelli becamePope Pius XII and Montini retainedthe office of the Secretariat of State,with Mons. Domenico Tardini.In 1939, Montini is in Poland and,due to the hatred he feels for the Ger-mans and Germany, he is aspokesman for a Vatican point ofview – but entirely personal – advis-ing Poland to open fire against theGermanic army.After the war broke out, Montini or-ganized the Research and Informa-tion Service for prisoners in eachcountry and the Relief Commission,which later became the Pontifical As-sistance Commission.For the duration of the war, Montini, apriest-diplomat by day and conspira-tor by night, will have close relationswith the staff of the Allied military in-telligence services of the Office ofStrategic Services (OSS) (the precur-sor of the CIA) as well as staff ofBritish and Soviet Intelligence. In re-turn, the Office of Strategic Services(OSS) pledged to fill the Vatican trea-sury with dollars, as well as the coffersof the Sicilian Mafia and Freemason-ry, to prepare for the invasion of Sici-ly. Montini was the head of intelli-gence information retrieval, obtainedfrom the Jesuits in Japan, which wereused by the Allies to identify thestrategic targets to be bombed

In 1943, Montini lost both his parents:on January 12, his father died; May15, his mother.Montini dedicates a tomb to his moth-er, on which he sculpts a symboliccomposition, of which he himself isthe author, that displays the terriblereality of his “predestination” to theHead of the Illuminati.In 1944, at the death of Card.Maglione, Msgr. Montini remained

and Palmiro Togliatti, the undisput-ed leader of the Italian CommunistParty. This was the first contact be-tween the Vatican and a leader ofCommunism.In 1945, on the eve of the Yalta Con-ference, Msgr. Montini had a meetingwith the Communist, Eugenio Reale,with the intention of organizing ameeting between Togliatti and thePope.While Msgr. Montini gave vent to hisanti-fascism with his secret contactswith high-level communist repre-sentatives, his family manifested thispolitical passion of the left in an evenmore disturbing way. In an articlewritten by Attorney Salvatore Macca,former President of the Court of Bres-cia, entitled: “The Montini’s helpedthe Communist terrorist, Speziale,to kill people with bombs” one canread information on the activity of theCommunist partisan, LeonardoSpeziale who, after criminal convic-tions for crimes of blood, he escapedfrom prison in France and returned toItaly, settling in Brescia. His first ter-

rorist venture took place on October31, 1943, in Brescia, which causedthe death of the director of the Judi-cial Prison, father of five children,and of a nineteen-year-old soldier,both torn apart by the explosion.Here is how Leonardo Speziale justi-fies himself: «The same hospitalityoffered to me by the Montini’s, allCatholics, seems to me quite signifi-cant. Mother and Father Montiniknew that I was one of those whoput the bombs in the barracks of theNazi-Fascists – I, myself, packedseveral of them right in their homewhere they gave me hospitality, soli-darity and affection. As well, all themembers of the family in whoseworkshop the bombs we used in theattacks were made were Catholics.»On December 26, 1944, the terrorist,Leonardo Speziale was appointed asMilitary Inspector for the Veneto re-gion.On April 4, 1944, the “hero of theResistance”, Msgr. Girolamo Bor-tignon, the arch-enemy of PadrePio, was appointed by Pius XII asBishop of Lidda and Apostolic Ad-ministrator of the dioceses of Bel-luno and Feltre, from the same areafrom which came the Red Inspectorterrorist and dear friend of the Monti-ni’s, Leonardo Speziale.Between October 1944 and February1945, under the Inspector Spezialeand under the jurisdiction of Msgr.Bortignon, about 600 innocents wereslaughtered, almost always for per-sonal revenge for simple reasons ofrobbery, by the Communist partisans.In the area of Veneto region, at thattime, there was no lack of the pres-ence of Msgr. Giambattista Montini’strusted man: Loris Capovilla who,ordained a priest on May 23, 1940, af-ter September 8, 1943, collaboratedwith the Partisan Resistance,drowning in a murky past of red vi-olence linked to the civil war inNorthern Italy.

1. On 10 July, at the home of a Christian-DemocraticMinister, the acting Vatican Secretary of State,Msgr. Giovanni Battista Montini, conferred withTogliatti, Communist Minister without Portfolioin the of Bonomi Government. Their conversation re-viewed the grounds out of which has grown the un-destanding between the Christian-Democratic andCommunist parties.

2. Since his arrival in Italy, Togliatti had privatemeetings with leading personalities of the Chris-tian-Democratic party. These contacts constitutedthe political background of Togliatti’s speech atthe Teatro Brancaccio on Sunday, 9 July, and ac-count for the warm reception the speech receivedfrom the Catholic press.

3. Through leaders of the Christian-Democratic party,Togliatti was able to convey to the Vatican hisimpression of Stalin’s opinion on religous free-dom, as not accepted by Communism, and of thedemocratic character of the agreement between Russiaand the Allied Nations. On the other hand, the Holy See reached Togliatti through the same means,and expressed its opinion regarding future agree-ment with Soviet Russia on the matter of Communismin Italy as well as in other countries.

After the war, from a secret report ofthe security services of Fiat, the polit-ical action of Capovilla took shapethat, through the trade unions andthe Italian Communist Party, he be-gan to take his place at the highestlevel, in the process of Communiti-zation of the Italian nation.

On April 11, 1953, the “Montesicase,” burst forth with the discoveryof the body of Wilma Montesi on abeach south of Rome after it was dis-covered that the girl had participatedin a Black Mass, with a subsequentorgy in a hunting lodge near Rome.The puppeteer of this scandal was theMarquis Ugo Montagna, that GuyCarr, one of the foremost experts ofFreemasonry, identified as the politi-cal leader of the Illuminati of Bavariain Italy, whose task was to controlMussolini and await the opportunemoment, to turn Italian politics to theLeft.In 1954, the “Montesi Case” van-ished into thin air, but it obtained a re-sult: it struck down the candidacy ofChristian Democrat Presidency of At-tilio Piccioni, who «... as a ChristianDemocratic secretary, ran the fate-ful election campaign of 1948,fought with courage against thethreat of Communism ... »Italy was now ready for the “openingto the Left”, so much coveted by Ms-gr. Giambattista Montini.«With the Church that stood unex-pectedly at the service of KarlMarx» it happened that «AmintoreFanfani, strongly inspired by Msgr.Loris Capovilla, was charged withdeveloping the program of “open-ing to the Left” in Italy.»The expulsion of Mons. Giambat-tista Montini from the Secretary ofState on November 1, 1954, and thesignificant silence of Pius XII againsthim, after being appointed Archbish-op of Milan, created a new situationfor Montini and High Masonry.

Montini was shocked: «Montini wasno longer happy, in fact, he seemedlost ... his face had changed. Even thetone of the voice was different, thegestures less expressive. There wastalk of a real exile inflicted on theMonsignor who had dared to “be-tray” the anti-socialist, as well as an-ti-Communist, battle of Pope Pacelli.»The predestined one of High Ma-sonry and the summit of the Orderof the Illuminati of Bavaria, [cho-sen] to occupy the throne of Peter,had been exiled and the door hadbeen barred to the Cardinalate andthen to the papacy.

At the beginning of 1955, Montini’sletter-writing and personal contact toMsgr. Roncalli began.That was the only possible way: to

place Roncalli on the papal throne, tosolve the problem of the cardinalatefor Msgr. Montini and clear the way,then, to the pontificate.In 1956, Fr. Luigi Villa had his firstmeeting with Padre Pio, duringwhich he received the task of dedicat-ing his entire life to defend theChurch of Christ from the work ofecclesiastical Freemasonry.Then, Fr. Villa received the papalmandate from Pius XII, to carry outthe task entrusted to him by PadrePio, placing him under Card. Otta-viani, Prefect of the Holy Office.The period, which included the expul-sion of Msgr. Montini from the Secre-tariat of State until the death of PiusXII, was very delicate for Freemason-ry, because of the danger that Pius XIIhad remained alive far too long.

Fr. Villa told me what was known inthe Holy Office: «We think that PiusXII was killed for two reasons: ifPius XII had lived another yearand a half, the plan of WorldwideFreemasonry to put their man,Montini, at the head of the Churchwould have been ruined. Pius XII, in1960, would certainly have publishedthe Third Secret of Fatima whichcontained the phrase: “Satan willtruly succeed in reaching the top ofthe Church;” moreover, Freemason-ry could not have imposed Roncalli,as their “transitional pope”, because atthat time he was already ill with can-cer and was given only five years tolive. If Pius XII had remained alivefor another year and a half, Roncallicould never have been elected pope,because the news of his illness wouldhave spread and would have prevent-ed him from collecting the votes nec-essary for his election to the papacy.And Montini would never have be-come a Cardinal and therefore, notever a Pope!»At the time of the “Montesi case,”«the Vatican was also affected bythe crisis, because it turns out thatthe adventurer, Ugo Montagna, wasa close friend of the personal physi-cian of the pope, Riccardo GaleazziLisi» who also participated in theBlack Masses and bacchanal orgiesorganized by Montagna. Why, wasRiccardo Galeazzi Lisi “driven out ofthe sacred palaces” instead of beinginvestigated? Was it known that UgoMontagna had the task of “influenc-ing men, women of high society andhigh levels of the Church and theState and used blackmail to forcemany people to surrender to thewill of their masters, the Illumi-nati?”

In an article, dated June 22, 2008, byAlberto Bertotto, we read that “EzraPound’s daughter, Mary de Rachel-witz, confided to Professor Pantano

that the murderous mission of USkillers, who were to kill Benito Mus-solini, was organized by J.J. Angleton,behind the “input” of the Vatican’sPro-Secretary of State, Msgr. Mon-tini, “supported by his faithfulTogliatti.” It is well known that theUS spy system made good use of theinformation network that had set up inthe Holy See: an intelligence servicethat, in those years, was directed bythe “pious” Msgr. GiambattistaMontini.»Pope Pius XII died on October 9,1958. On October 26, 1958, the pa-pal princes of the Church had elect-ed Card. Giuseppe Siri of Genoa assuccessor to Pope Pius XII. Thenewly elected Pope had accepted theoffice becoming the 262th Vicar ofChrist, informing the Cardinals thathe had assumed the name of GregoryXVII. Since according to Canon Lawthe resignation of a Pope, regularlyelected and who has accepted the as-signment, is null, Gregory XVII re-mained the true Vicar of Christ un-til his death, which occurred in 1989.But the Illuminati of Bavaria had oth-er preferences and other programs.In this regard, the economist, politi-cian, writer and journalist Count Pao-lo Sella di Monteluce revealed toFranco Bellegrandi that a few daysbefore the Conclave, in the Sanctuaryof Oropa, a high Masonic authorityin contact with the Vatican told himthat “… the next pope would not beSiri, but a pope of conciliation wouldhave to be elected; the Patriarch ofVenice, Roncalli, had already beenchosen ... the Church is in ourhands.”What threats forced Pope GregoryXVII to resign? The unofficial versionthat emerged was a death threat toCard. Giuseppe Siri and the exter-mination of his entire family, but themost effective was that which con-templated the extermination of the en-tire top of the ecclesiastical hierarchy.

Now, there was the atomic bomb andthe effects it caused had been provenon August 6 and 9, 1945, on almost theentire Catholic population of Japan.

The first US nuclear test took placeon July 16, 1945 in a place called“Trinity”! Interestingly, it is preciselythe concept of the Trinity that thereign of the Antichrist wants replaced:The Most Holy Trinity must be re-placed by the blasphemous and Sa-tanic Masonic Triple Trinity!Recall that, in March 1945, Japanhad communicated its uncondition-al surrender to the United States.However, ignoring this surrender, theUS continued to bomb the Japanesecities because the Roosevelt adminis-tration wanted to prolong the warto develop the atomic bomb.

Card. Giuseppe Siri was elected Pope in 1958and took the name of Gregorio XVII, but hadto resign. Was the threat of an atomic bomb onthe Vatican was used to remove Card.Giuseppe Siri from the Chair of Peter?

70% of Japanese Catholics lived inNagasaki. Nagasaki and Hiroshimawere the cities in which almost all theCatholics of Japan lived. So, yes, thefirst two US atomic bombs were,dropped on the “yellow race,” but al-so, TO KILL ALMOST ALL THECATHOLICS OF JAPAN!

What, then, was the true intent ofthese first two atomic bombs droppedon Japan, that no one, in high places,wanted to be held responsible?The perennial spokesperson of the an-ti-Catholic establishment, HerbertGeorge Wells, published his book“Crux Ansata,” in which he openlyadvocated the destruction of the Vati-can: «Why do we not bomb Rome?... A total bombardment of the Ital-ian capital seems not only desirable,but necessary.»

In reality, during the Second WorldWar, Allied bombs struck the Vaticantwice and then Pope Pius XII, gath-ered the cardinals, and advised themto prepare to elect a papal successoroutside Italy, in case he was killed. The in-credible increase in detonations of nu-clear devices (by the United Statesand the USSR) occurred in 1958,more than in any previous year. With the help of the US govern-ment, the Soviet Communists sud-denly had ballistic missiles with nu-clear capabilities parked just 90miles south of Key West, Florida.Thus, the Soviet, technologicallyprimitive army of the 1960s, was in-stantly updated by its supposed op-ponent, the United States, becominga far more frightening “bogeyman”than it had been up to then. If theAmerican people were terrified by theprospect of nuclear war, the Europeanpeoples were even more so. It is impossible to deny that there wasany other Italian political figure thatwas so established or connected to P2with such frequency and impactother than Giulio Andreotti.One can see from the Crack Sindonato the Borghese “coup;” from thetragedy of Roberto Calvi to themurky background of the assassi-nation of Pecorelli ... Everywhere,in these historical paintings, GiulioAndreotti always appears, at least insomewhat veiled, but still always inthe foreground.In addition, there are the followingfacts:

– the “testimony” of Ms. LaraLazzerini from the Public Prosecu-tor of Pisa, December 31, 1981;

– the “information” on Gelli, drawnup by Major Antonino De Salvo ofthe Financial Police, on March 19,1974;

– the “testimony” of the GrandMaster, Lino Salvini, to the PublicProsecutor’s Office of Florence, onAugust 15, 1976;

– the statement, made under oath, onAugust 12, 1980, by Lia BronziDonati, of Tuscany, “Grand Mas-

ter” of the traditional women’slodge in Italy, that there was a doc-ument ... which attested that Hon.Giulio Andreotti, belonged to theMasonry of Piazza del Gesù withan “initiation” that took placejointly with Michele Sindona.

And the “recording” of a telephoneconversation between Carlo Bordoni,his ex-right-hand man and his lawyeris particularly interesting. This phonecall was heard on tape in the Commis-sion on October 3, 1983. Macchi hasdecreed, together with the politi-cians of all the Entities, the deathsentence of Dr. Roberto Calvi.That day, I saw, in person, all thesemen meet in the villa of MicheleLucchese, in Paderno Dugnano wherethere would be an important meeting. The Mafia is the armed branch of theEntities and its men are an army root-ed in the territory, which inspire fearin the Sicilian people and impose theculture of Omertà (Silence). TheMafia hierarchy is composed of an ab-solute Head that decides everythingand a lower hierarchy linked by an ini-tiation pact. Each Family is au-tonomous in local decisions, but is re-lated to the Provincial Head. NDRANGHETA

The Ndrangheta performs functionslike those of the Mafia, as if theywere two sides of the same coin. Theyprovide paid labor and security aswell as terrorist protection. There isno difference between the Mafias thatoperate in Milan and that of Rome;they are all connected to a double linkbetween them.Mafia and Ndrangheta are usuallyused as a scapegoat for the Entities.

Assoon as he began to drink, Fr. Modes-tino was taken by nausea and retch-ing, as that broth was disgusting.Padre Pio jokingly asked him: “What!brother, don’t you like it? … Andwhat about me who have to do thismortification every day?” Fr. Mod-estino asked him, “Father, but do youreally like to drink this chickensoup?” The answer was: «It is thegreatest mortification that obedi-ence requires of me. In truth, I donot like it at all.» When Fr. Modesti-no circulated the rumor about thissickening glass of chicken broth, thismortification to Padre Pio abruptlyceased.

With the advent of Paul VI, the perse-cution of Padre Pio in the days ofJohn XXIII turned into a harsh andimplacable “final solution” to thatage-old problem that had “caused dif-ficulties out of the ordinary in theConvent of San Giovanni Rotondo.”And the solution of these “difficultiesout of the ordinary”, in the words ofthe General Minister of the CapuchinOrder, “concerned Father Clemente.”The “final solution” began on April17, 1965, when Father Clemente con-versed with Padre Pio, for a quarter ofan hour in his cell. Soon after, the Fa-ther felt sick and collapsed. Accordingto reliable reports, the object of themeeting was that the Father was giv-en precise instructions about howhe should conduct himself in rela-tions with doctors and other authori-ties of the House of Relief and, in par-ticular, with his doctor friends, eventhe renown ones, from which he wasforbidden to be visited.Father Clemente, therefore, orderedPadre Pio not to be visited by anydoctor any more!

On Easter Sunday, April 18, 1965,Padre Pio celebrated Mass, but thenstayed in the cell until Monday. Onthe morning of Tuesday, April 20, heasked his confreres to support him be-cause he wanted to celebrate Mass,but on the last steps he becameweighted down and, supported bytheir arms, was led back to his cell.Halfway down the corridor he faintedand fell to the ground.From Easter of 1965, with that visit ofFather Clemente, Padre Pio began along agony that would last threeand a half years, until his death.In the last three years of life, PadrePio could not stand up nor speak;he often staggered and fell.«Each pill was given to Padre Pio, notby his doctor, Prof. Sala, but by thefriar nurses who assisted him; so, itwas the friars, to be precise, the Fa-

ther Guardian, who gave Padre Piothese drugs!»«In this last period of his life, assis-tance to Padre Pio was carried out bysome of his confreres, but even thesechoices had to always pass by theApostolic Administrator, FatherClemente from Santa Maria in Pun-ta.»

In an extensive report by Renzo Alle-gri entitled: “How Padre Pio Died,”published in Issue no. 41 of “Gente”of October 8, 1969, we learn of terri-ble facts such as “ unfit medicaltreatment to Padre Pio,” indeed,“decidedly wrong.” And again, “theexistence of a terrible danger” in theearthly life of the Friar, due to the“martyrdom caused by drug poi-soning.”Upon hearing the news of Padre Pio’sdeath, Nino Longobardi published inthe “Messenger” of September 25,1968, a surprising piece of news: Im-

mediately after the death of Padre Pio,Sister Pia, sister of Padre Pio, whowas a religious belonging to the Orderof Saint Bridget of Sweden, made aformal request to the superiors ofthe Convent of Maria Santissimadelle Grazie and also, to the Vati-can, for an autopsy to be performedon the corpse of Padre Pio.Given the confidentiality owed to thesister, the respect for mourning andthe natural morbidity of the controver-sy that would ensue, this was really a“striking” request and the sisterhad to have had good reasons tomake a request of such proportions!Spiritual children were demandingnews from all parts of the world. In the last week of April 1965, thenewspapers gave reports of threemedical examinations to which PadrePio would have been submitted.The first of Prof. Valdoni (this reportwas then denied); the second of Prof.Cassano (but the examination wasnot performed); the third would havebeen ordered by the friars, but no oneever knew the name of the doctorand the outcome of the visit.

On April 20, 1965, after Padre Piowas taken back to his cell, against thewill of the friars, a doctor from theHouse of Relief took a blood samplefrom Padre Pio to analyze it. Fromthe analysis, it turned out that PadrePio had been poisoned.

On the evening of April 29, 1965,Prof. Glauco Torlontano, Prof.Giuseppe Gusso of the House of Re-lief and Prof. Cassano went to theconvent, but to the dismay of all, a fa-ther met them and said: «You cannotvisit Padre Pio because the FatherGuardian does not want this.» Theysent him to look for the Guardianwho, however, was nowhere to befound.Entering the cell of Padre Pio, Prof.Cassano heard these words repeated

three times by the friar: «I cannot letyou visit him because the FatherGuardian does not want it.» But thetruth was another... someone wantedto keep other doctors from visitingPadre and investigating into whichmedicines were given to him.

Eligio D’Antonio narrates, in his di-ary that, when one morning, he dedi-cated himself to preparing medicinesfor Padre Pio, in the presence of theParish Priest of Tufello, Fr. ParisioCurzi, he became very upset when heheard Padre say: «Two thirds of myills are due to the concoctions thatthey make me take.»

Cleonide Morcaldi refers to PadrePio’s words to the Mastrorosa sisters,who asked him for the cause of hisdizziness: «They are poisoning mewith pills.»

In one of their books on Padre Pio,Professor Lésourd, of the CatholicUniversity of Paris, and Abbot Ben-jamin report on Father Pellegrino’sverdict: «For me, the medicineshave taken away Padre Pio.»

On Padre Pio’s weakened arms, hisweighted legs, the uninterrupted verti-go, the heavy falls upon the ground,Father Pellegrino specifies: «Thesleeping pills were the death ofPadre Pio.»

Padre Pio had been “stuffed” withsleeping pills and barbiturates that,in addition to destroying his health,numbed his mental faculties. TheMedical Director of the House of Re-lief of Suffering, Professor GiuseppeGusso, a man of integrity and mostdevoted to Padre Pio, says that «Somedoctors favorable to Padre Pio, with-out the friars knowing it, have ana-lyzed some of Padre Pio’s urine in theClinic laboratory. Padre Pio had a re-markable physique: traces of barbi-

turates have been found that wouldhave killed a horse in three days.»

Padre Pio knows perfectly well thatthe medicines were harmful to him,but to those who urged him to refusethem, he replied: «I obey my superi-ors and my doctors, as I have al-ways obeyed.» And he concluded in adisconcerting manner: «Too bad forthem!»

Father Alessio wanted to intervene,but Padre Pio decisively preventedhim: «... you must think about beinga monk and not a doctor!»

Everyone saw that Padre Pio was de-clining day to day. He could no longergo down in the refectory, no longermove his legs, he was subject to gag-ging. In the last years of the life ofPadre Pio, there were several Ca-puchins assigned to him: Father Eu-sebio, Father Onorato, FatherAlessio, Father Pellegrino. These re-ligious were in agreement in affirm-ing that Padre Pio was being poi-soned by medicines.

In September 1964, Padre Pio com-plained to his spiritual son, EligioD’Antonio, who declared in writing:«Padre Pio told me: Three quartersof my ills come from these medi-cines that make me take.»

Towards the end of 1964, Padre Piocould no longer sleep. The attendingphysician resorted to sleeping pillsand barbiturates. Padre Pio did notwant to take those pills, but the Su-perior enforced them on him underthe pain of obedience.

In March 1965, Mrs. Mastrorosa ofSan Giovanni Rotondo said to PadrePio: «Father, you look so terrible,don’t you care?” The Father replied:«My daughter, they give me somany pills that are poisoning me.»

One day, Padre Pio told EnzoBertani, the treasurer of the Casa delSollievo, (House of Suffering) whohad come to visit him: «Take thatbottle of pills and throw it away, be-fore the nurse arrives.»

In a letter dated March 26, 1966, tohis beloved Father Augustino, PadrePio writes: «I am also distressed bythe doctors who make me drinksome garbage that I cannot stand.»

On November 1, 1968, Father Pelle-grino, himself, in the house ofCountess Telfener, in front of fivewitnesses, stated: «There was a peri-od when Padre Pio was forced toswallow more than fifty pills a day,of every kind, from the most harm-less, like vitamins, to sleeping pillsand barbiturates. Since the end of1964, every evening, when he wasforced to swallow five pills, two of

which were barbiturates and theother three were sleeping pills.These medicines had damaging ef-fects on the health of Padre Pio. Hecould not stand anymore, he wasdizzy, he could no longer move hisfeet, I had to support him with botharms when he walked. During thenight, I no longer knew how to movehim when I needed to turn him over inbed. I, and the other confreres whowere closest to him, found thatPadre Pio was delirious, at times heno longer had control of his mind.He often vomited. When he walked,he leaned against the wall so as not tofall on the ground. One evening hefell and injured his face.»

«The following story is from our in-formant who wants to remain anony-mous.He states: “I can document a period ofPadre Pio’s life that no one has evertalked about. It represents a terribleperiod of his existence, when themartyrdom of psychological confu-sion, caused by drug poisoning, wasadded to physical and moral suffer-ing.(...) Of this period, which was amongthe most painful of his life, CardinalGiacomo Lercaro wrote: “To causePadre Pio to agonize as the Savior inthe Garden of Olives was the fact thathe did not suffer so much FOR theChurch, when the fact was that hewas caused suffering FROM theChurch... He felt the bitterness of ar-bitrary proceedings, of very harsh, in-jurious, malicious measures ... Hewas isolated from his friends; intheir place came his adversaries inthe miserable sullenness of medioc-rity who do not suffer from the su-periority of virtue... The confreres,themselves, became his tormentorsand they who should have been as acane to him in his old age, were themiserable traitors who went as faras to commit sacrilege with their

traitorous kiss.” I have quoted thesewords from a cardinal because, if any-one else had written them, they wouldbe unbelievable.»

For more than fifty years before, Je-sus, Mary and the Celestial Courtwere repeating, as a refrain, to theyoung Padre Pio:«... THE VICTIM, TO BECALLED VICTIM, HAS TO LOSEALL HIS BLOOD». THE “VOCATION TO REDEEM”has been satisfied; the “GREATMISSION” on this earth entrustedto Padre Pio from the Lord hasbeen completed!

WHERE HAS THE BODY OF PADRE PIO GONE?

In August 2006, a friend invited me tovisit Eng. Agide Finardi who lived inBolzano.It was an unforgettable meeting!After a few months, I returned to visithim with Fr. Villa but, on the returnjourney, Father told me that “it wasbetter for me to continue to meethim, but alone.”On a subsequent visit, Eng. Finarditold me about his first meeting withPadre Pio which ended with a punchin his face so violent that he hit hishead against a wall and then the rolethat he had in the construction of thenew church of Santa Maria delle Gra-zie: he, together with his workers, hadto take care of all the non-masonryworks. For years, he remained in SanGiovanni Rotondo even after thedeath of Padre Pio and his industri-ousness, combined with his genius,gave rise to a special relationship withthe friars of the convent, who used hisskills to solve technical and financialproblems. Abandoning his previousactivities, Finardi gave himself tosculpture: busts and statues of PadrePio, but also works on commission.I went back to see him several timesand the stories of my visits thrilledmy children so much that they toowanted to know him.

On June 19, 2009, my son, Luca, andI went to visit him. Also present wasMr. Amos Compagnoni, owner of aMuseum of Sacred Art, who exhibitedworks of art by Finardi, his closefriend.Before getting to the house, the fourof us went to the nearby Pizzeria Bel-la Napoli, where I updated all of themon the latest developments of PadrePio’s empty tomb, ending with thephrase: «One day, they will have totell us where the body of Padre Piohas gone!»

Finardi looked at me smiling andreplied: «If you want, I’ll tell you!They sent him to America two daysafter his burial.»«Which city in the US did they sendhim to?»Finardi, who made no objectionwhen, instead of “America,” I usedthe term “United States,” replied, «Idon’t know, because I have notbeen told!» And, soon after, he start-ed talking about some Italian airports.so much so that I was forced to askhim: «Which airport did they ship himfrom?»«From Foggia military airport,» an-swered Finardi.

Then I asked him: «What about this

What theyfound in the tomb is probably whatthe friars put inside, before the officialopening of the coffin, in March 2008»and I went on: «From a priest, whowas very fond of Padre Pio, welearned that one of the members ofthe Commission who attended theopening of the coffin, told him: “Wefound only a piece of skull, a toothand some nails. Nothing else!”»Finardi said: «The coffin, in fact,was opened three months before itsofficial opening, because the friarswanted to see the condition that theSaint was in so as to prepare himfor his exposure to the public.»Back at his apartment, we talked along time and suddenly, the engineeropened a door of the cabinet behindhis desk, where he kept his diaries,written on notebooks.«When did you start writing these di-aries» I asked him.«Since 1942» was the answer.

After almost six months, one Monday,I phoned Finardi to arrange a visit, butbecause of the worried tone in hisvoice, I immediately said, «I’m com-ing today. I’ll leave immediately!»I left with my wife and we arrived inBolzano around noon. We found Eng.Finardi with a black eye and Dr.Alessandro Conci, his friend, and hisnew caregiver who prepared his mealsand prescribed injections. The doctortold me that the black eye Finardihad procured was caused by fallingin the hall, on the previous Friday, re-maining all night on the carpet of thefloor. The caregiver, who had foundhim the following morning still lyingthere, said that luckily, he had re-mained on the carpet and had beenwearing a heavier jacket than usual,otherwise, as the heating was turnedoff at night, the Engineer could havedied of cold, especially if he had lainon the bare floor.

The caregiver prepared lunch and thenleft the house.Finardi talked about his stay in SanGiovanni Rotondo from 1959 to 1969and the opportunity he had in gettingto know all the friars of the Convent,mentioning also the “holiday peri-ods” that these friars spent in his pre-vious spacious and comfortable villain Bolzano: «Almost all the friarshave spent time in my house ... for theholidays. I settled them comfortablyand they stayed at my house for sev-eral days but even longer.»At around 1:30 pm, my wife and Iwere alone with Finardi, so I startedtalking about the “manniquin” that thefriars had prepared for passing it offas the “incorrupt body of Padre Pio”.Finardi told me: «If you want, I’lltell you how things went. One day,the Director of the bank, withwhom the friars had a huge loan,went to them, worried because theywere beginning to default on thepayments of the loan they had con-tracted with the bank.»After having reported to me the fig-ure, in billions of lire, that the friarsowed to Renzo Piano, he added that atthat time the friars collected 147million a day! ... and he continuedsaying: «The friars, seeing so manypilgrims, had thought to facilitatetheir arrival with planes, trains andships. They had organized a planeevery day that made the route: Turin,Milan, Florence, Rome and Foggia.Unfortunately, very often, the planearrived empty. Then they had orga-nized a train every day and a shipleaving from Trieste and arriving inManfredonia. The lag in pilgrimageshas created the problem of loanpayments for the friars. Then, inSan Giovanni Rotondo there are 140hotels; 70 of them are already bank-rupt and the Mafia is buying them toturn them into apartments».And he finished: «Then, the friarshad a meeting and decided: we will

resurrect Padre Pio!».«Resurrect Padre Pio? – I said – Theymade a puppet covered his facewith a silicone mask and then what’sinside the shoes, gloves, under thehabit? They have to show us what isin it! Sooner or later they will haveto do it!»Then Finardi, articulating the words,said: «The feet are made of wood.»«And the hands, then, even those?»Finardi spread his arms, shrugged hisshoulders and raised his eyes upward,as if to say: “And what else couldthey do?”Then he added: «The friars openedthe coffin twice: eight months be-fore the official exhumation andthen about three months before.When they first opened it, they lostone of the “knobs”. It was Fr. Mod-estino who asked me how the gran-ite block on Padre Pio’s grave wasmoved!»«Did they raise it with the 4 jacks, asthey did during the exhumation?”«No! They dragged it!»«What? Eng. Agide Finardi, already over ninety yearsold, from 2006 to 2010, gave me many revela-tions about what happened to Padre Pio afterhis death. The most serious facts concern theshipping of the body of Padre Pio to the Unit-ed States, with a military aircraft that left theairport of Foggia and the fact that the “incor-rupt body” of Padre Pio was just a “woodenmannequin” sculpted by a sculptor from ValGardena (Italy).

Observing that the face was of ayoung person and believing that hewas a general of Foggia’s air force,involved in the expedition of the cof-fin of Padre Pio, I asked: «But is hean air force general?»With a fit of rage, throwing the binderinto the air, Finardi exclaimed aloud:«But how curious you are! I won’ttell you!»I asked, «How long ago was this pho-tograph taken?»With another outburst of anger,throwing his arms up, Finardi shout-ed, «But then you don’t trust me!»But then, in a low voice, he said tome, «About three years ago.»Then, I added: «If this person were in-volved with the expedition of PadrePio’s coffin, shortly after his death,the face would seem too young!»Finardi, after calming down, said in alow voice, «He has nothing to dowith the expedition of the coffin,but with the recent opening of thetomb of Padre Pio ... He was the po-lice chief of Manfredonia. I had himtransferred from Rimini, aboutthree years ago.»For the duration of our afternoontalks, the caregiver was present just afew feet away in the kitchen. By nowthe engineer was tired and exhausted,and so we returned home.

After about three months, in April,2010, I made the last visit.Finardi was sitting on the bed. We be-gan to talk about our families andthen about Padre Pio.Hinting about the “puppet” of PadrePio that the friars had displayed inpublic and reminding the Engineer ofthe words he had said to me about hiswooden feet and hands, I asked him:«Did you make that wooden statue?»«No, they had it made by a sculptorfrom Val Gardena, even beforePadre Pio died and kept it in SanGiovanni Rotondo.»«But then, did the friars have this all

planned out from the very begin-ning?»«It looks like that!» And he added:«The sculptor did it in a month, butthey did not tell him what it was for ...No, they just told him they would useit, but they did not know where yet.»Around noon, as there was no care-giver, I prepared lunch and after aquarter of an hour we were seated atthe table. At one point I said: «Wethought we could write a biographyabout you with your diaries, but itwould be nice to start writing thelast chapter!»Finardi then got up from the table,went into the hall and took some timeto return with a small volume that hegave me saying: «It is the first of 6volumes; this is for you.»I took it into my hands, skimmedthrough it, stopping on some pagesfull of photographs. In one of these,there were three characters and Finar-di told me: «The one on the right isthe Chief of Police of Manfredoniawho is called “the Commissioner,”Antonio Lauriola.»Finardi told me that these six volumeshad been made with his journals andcovered the entire period from 1942until the last years. To my request thatI may read them, Finardi repliedvaguely and evasively.I left him to rest and returned in theafternoon.We went into the room where Finarditurned on the television and left it on.We resumed the conversation aboutthe diaries and the volumes that hewas printing when, at one point, hetold me that someone had read thefirst booklet to the friars and theywere happy.When I heard these words, I becamealarmed and asked: «How can the fri-ars read a small volume taken fromyour diaries and be happy?»«Certain things have been removed.»«But then the diaries are not pub-lished verbatim, but they have been

tampered with.»«But they will not let me write that afriar had put his tongue in the mouthof one of my workers!»«I understand that certain personalfacts may be omitted, but the factsyou told me about the empty tomb,Padre Pio’s expedition to the UnitedStates and the opening of the coffinthree months before the official ex-humation, are they to be published ornot?»«If I did, the friars would denounceme.»«But then,» I said, «who has these di-aries and with what criterion does he“clean” them up?» At this point, Finardi, clearly said tome: «I gave the diaries to the fri-ars.»At that moment, I understood the rea-son for the serenity of our conversa-tions of that day: Finardi had madehis final decision: to deliver all his di-aries to the friars.

Towards the middle of September2010, I tried to call Finardi, but noone answered. Then I called thePizzeria Bella Napoli and they said tome, «But don’t you know?..»Eng. Agide Finardi – they told me –had lost consciousness in June andthen had died in August.

To the phrase that Fr. Luigi Villa saidto me at the return of his first and on-ly meeting with Eng. Finardi: “con-tinue to visit him, but alone” wasfollowed by many others with whichhe urged me to go back to him, tomake him speak, to get him tell every-thing he knew, to make haste, to closecertain issues, to try to get his diariesand ... to be careful!Why that sentence after his first meet-ing? Finardi, nowfast surpassing the threshold of ninetyyears, felt the need to “lighten” cer-tain burdens on his conscience.The “revelations” of Eng. Finardi,therefore, certainly come from asource that knew the facts well havingexperienced them, for the most part,in person, but not blindly acceptingtheir veracity, we can always proceedwith continuing verifications thatcould finally bring to light the truthabout the “secret of the empty tombof Saint Padre Pio.”
