It is the next again morning now. MAISIE has just woken up
from her hazy slumber. DAN is sitting in the chair by the

like he is daydreaming but his eyebrows are knotted.

MAISIE
Morning.

I first tried to find a song that would suit the tempo and mood of our short film. I decided to do this I would look through my own music library to get some ideas. The first song I came across that worked with the tone of the film was “Clint Eastwood - Gorillaz”. We found an instrumental version of this song and used that to base our standard ideas of timing/tempo in our film. I then also found a song that worked extremely well with the overall mood of the film, and had excellent tonal change to suit our storyline in the middle of the song. The song we decided was “Hourglass - Catfish and the Bottlemen”.
In our group we then realised that to put either of these songs into our short film we would need a copyright release on the song by the people who own the songs rights. We thought this may be impossible within our timeframe so decided to ask a local musician to make a cover of the song to play over our film. The cover seemed to lack the same emotion and heart, as well as the grit in the original version of the song. This was unfortunate as the song would have worked incredibly well with our film.
The accumulation of our failure in trying to get a good audio clip which was also copyright free led us to the ‘YouTube Audio Library’. This tool is great as it has hundreds of different audio files to suit each film we could have produced. Eventually I managed to find a couple of songs that worked within the confines we had set ourselves for the audio clip. I found 3 songs; “Climbing”, “Surfing Llama” and “TV Drama Version 1(2)” - which all worked well with our film.
