Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas in Rio de Janeiro

Foz do Iguaçu is nothing less than a "New Wonders of Nature," accordingto the New Seven Wonders Foundation.

It is hard to imagine any person who has visited Foz do Iguaçu and wasnot delighted with the strength and beauty of the falls, a series of 275waterfalls reaching up to 90 meters high. On the Brazilian side, a trailtakes you to visit the bottom of the falls with a view to Devil's Throat, andon the Argentinian side, the most rudimentary track, "Wild," will take youto the top of the Devil's Throat with a spectacular view. We definitelyrecommend visiting both sides!

In addition to this wonder of nature, Foz do Iguaçu provides anabundance of interesting and adventurous activities, such as taking theMacuco Safari Boat Tour, which runs through the canyons and leads youto take a bath in the waterfalls of Cataratas do Iguaçu. There are alsohelicopter, hiking and rafting tours available for the adventurous.

Visiting the "Usina Hidrelétrica de Itaipu" (Hydroelectric Power Plant ofIguaçu) is also a must-see attraction of the giant turbines which turnwater into energy.Located on the triple border between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, thecity saw a large increase in population and economic growth from theconstruction of the Itaipu Hydroelectric plant. It represents an importantrole in the region, as a large part of Brazil relies on its energy production.

Known as the Marvelous City, Rio de Janeiro is an amazing, and magicalplace! Surrounded by stunning mountains, white sandy beaches andtropical rain forest, Rio has one of the most spectacular sceneries andecosystems of the world.

A Portuguese navigator landed in the city in January 1502 and confusingbay with a river (Rio) named the region as "Rio de Janeiro." During the17th century the city became important because of sugar cane exportfrom its port, however what really made it boom was the gold rush in the18th century. In 1763 the city became the capital of Brazil and continuedas such until the creation of Brasilia in 1960.

Rio is now considered the vacation capital of Brazil and its inhabitants, known as 'Cariocas', who live life with enthusiasm. At the beach, try the"mate" accompanied by the famous biscuit flour O Globo. In late afternoona good choice is the neighbourhood of Urca where people gather to seethe sunset and the night arrive. There are many options for food andsnacks along the beach, including fresh coconut water and blended acaiwith granola, a local favourite. Be sure to check out some of the nightmarkets and the famous Sunday Brazilian artisan and handicraft marketlocated in the neighbourhood of Ipanema, just blocks away from thebeach.

Carnival and New Year's Eve are the main events in Rio, where you canmeet travellers from around the world! Besides the festivities, mountaineering and climbing are very present during the days of Rio, andit is easy to see why, with the mountain rising off the beaches, resultingfrom the separation of the South American and African continents.

There is always something to discover and enjoy in Rio, from the sunset atArpoador's beach, samba in Lapa, walking through the streets of SantaTeresa, to of course, Carnival, creating some of the greatest mix ofcultures in Brazil. You can venture on bike through the city, climb SugarLoaf mountain or trek to Christ the Redeemer, visit the multiple anddiverse beaches in the city, and even take a favela tour to have a once ina lifetime raw, and heart expanding experience.

The historic center of Paraty has preserved houses, and churches datingback to the 18th and 19th centuries. The streets that were paved byslaves with ancient stones, where the traffic of cars is prohibited, are stillpreserved and give the area its own unique look and feel. It's worthgetting lost in the streets where you may find something new aroundevery corner.

Paraty started as a Portuguese settlement at an Indian village, and thejunction of these two cultures became what we now call "Caiçara." Fromthe caiçara cuisine you can't miss the chance to try the "CamarãoCasadinho" which consists of fried bread with shrimp, creating a uniquesandwich filled with local vegetable sauces and spices finished withcilantro and basil. Delicious!

Also traditional in the region is the production of "cahcaça", dating backto the 17th century, with the history of sugar cane plantations. Paraty'ssoil and the rugged geography provided abundance of sugar cane, anideal environment to turn the area into an alchoholic beverage producerduring the colonial period of Brazil. The alcohol, traditionally combinedwith local fruit and sugar, can be found across Brazil in Caipirinhas.

The city of Paraty combines history, culture, pristine nature, beaches andwaterfalls; all in the same place. In the town of Trindade, 20 km away, youmay find the wild beaches of "Sono" and "Caixadaço," both accessible onlyby trail or boat, which depart every day around the bay and its islands.Get ready for breathtaking landscapes and ocean scenery.

80% of the local area is occupied by protected areas which are home towaterfalls which form natural pools perfect for swimming, and mountainswith beautiful trails to hike or trek.

In addition, a great thing to do in Paraty is to participate in events thathappen in the city, ranging from cultural events such as "Festa LiteráriaInternacional de Paraty" or the Paraty International Literary Festival, totraditional festivals such as the "Festival da Pinga".

São Paulo is the capital city of the state of São Paulo. It is the mainfinancial, corporate and commercial center of Brazil and South America, and has the largest population and area of any city in Brazil. To visit SãoPaulo is to visit one of the most important centers of Brazil, withcharacteristics of a fully globalized city. You can visit several monuments, parks and museums which reflect thecultures and histories of the whole of Brazil as well as internationalcultures too, as the Latin American Memorial Museum, the PortugueseLanguage Museum, the MASP and the Botanical Garden are all located ubSão Paulo. São Paulo hosts multiple main Brazilian events during allseasons of the year, such as the International Biennial of Art, Formula 1,and São Paulo Fashion Week.São Paulo is one of the main Brazilian capitals, and therefore receives, with open arms, many Brazilian and foreign workers wishing to live in thecity with tolerance and respect for diversity of creeds, ethnicity, sexualorientations and tribes that come to call this magnificent city home.
