Fowlerville Police Investigate evidence of Methamphetamine Lab in Village

On Thursday, May 9, at Fowlerville Police received information regarding suspicious activity at a residence in the

loc of nn treet Of cers investigated and found evidence of a methamphetamine lab. The area was secured and Livingston And Washtenaw Narcotics Enforcement Team (LAWNET) of the Michigan

tate Police was noti ed. Entry was made into the suspected site and evidence of a methamphetamine lab was seized. The investigation is ongoing and has been transferred to LAWNET. Criminal charges will be sought upon completion of the investigation. The suspect is a 28 year old male from Fowlerville.

Parkinson’s Disease Support Group meeting May 28 at hospital Next meeting is Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 4:00 PM, held at St. Joseph Hospital, 620 Byron Rd., Howell, MI. Scheduled speaker will be Christine Panyard P.H.D., professor at the University of Detroit. She will speak on Depression. ey ndings from a new study show depression is a bigger challenge than the physical obstacles that patients face. This long-term study is the largest ever undertaken on the degenerative disease, affecting about 1 million people in the USA and 5 million worldwide, and is characterized by tremors, stiffness, slowness of movement and speech dif culties. It affects everyone differently. Michigan Parkinson Foundation (MPF) has support groups across the state of Michigan, which provide people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD), and their families, the opportunity to learn more about this condition and its management. There is no cure. Who knows more about PD than the people who live with it, and the partners, who help with the struggle? A support group brings together people with a common bond and validates people’s concerns by also looking after their emotional needs. These support groups are not only for the people with PD, but for everybody associated with the patient. “Everyone is welcome.” These group discussions are for your bene t. Use it wisely and often. Support groups are a tremendous pool of knowledge and experience. Members are encouraged to share their day to day challenges, medication, therapy, and to empathize with others in their situation, maintain good attitude, laugh at adversity, de ne what’s important and what can be left behind. If the patient is uncomfortable attending the rst time, do not force them to attend. A concerned family member, or friend is welcome to attend to learn about PD and the group, and bring that information back to the patient. Once the family member, or friend, sees how a support group works, he/she can explain it to the patient. A family friend or relative is always welcome to attend these meetings.

Fowlerville Boys Track places 10th at recent Williamston Invitational The Fowlerville Boys Track team competed in the Williamston Invitational on Saturday, May 11. The team

nished in 10th place with some outstanding performances. Tyler Burkhart set a new personal record, breaking the 5 minute mark in the 1600 run at 4:59, while Jacob Olechnowicz ran a 5:09 in the same event. This is a great accomplishment. Adam Coon broke two school records again. The new Shot-put distance is now out to 56’ ” and the Discus record was set at 165’11”. The lads were at the Regionals this past Saturday (May 18) hosted by Williamston.

Fowlerville Boys Track Team loses to Owosso in dual meet The Fowlerville Boys Track Team lost to Owosso last Tuesday in a dual meet, 93 to 44, but saved itsbest race for the last. The lads beat the 4 400 team of Owosso that had not lost in the CAAC Red Division yet this year. Relay members were CameronBronokowski, Galen Neuroth, Mason Litz and Tucker Gibbons. Other top three placers were Galen Neuroth rst in both hurdle events, Adam Coon rst in the shot and discus, Corbyn Shaw rst in the long ump, Jakob olleck 2nd in the 100 and 3rd in the 200, Tyler Burkhardt, 2nd inthe 1600 and 3rd in the 3200, Mason Litz 2nd in the 400, and Cameron Bronokowski 3rd in the high ump. The conference meet will be at Fowlerville this Wednesday.

the 200 m dash. The 1600 m relay team nished 4th with Eric Fritz, Alex Brownlee, Thomas uaine and Cody Persons with a time of 4:11.06. The 400 m relay team nished a close second to St. Johns with the team of Nathan Beauchamp, Dawson anger, Chad Hacker, and Jacob Dixon, with a time of 51.52. Dalton Sweet also scored points in the pole vault taking 5th place. Nick Good nished th in the shot put.

Student of the Week – Robert WilliamsBy: Christopher Blum

Congratulations to this week’s Student of the Week, Robert Williams! Robert, a senior, has two brothers, one older and one younger, and one sister who is married and has a 3 year old son. When not in school, Robert enjoys listening to music, going bowling, playing poker with his family, and hanging out with his friends, especially at bon res. This year, Robert’s classes consist of Physics, College Prep English, Pre-Calc, AP Chemistry, BST, and Wind Ensemble. Out of all of these diverse classes, Robert says he likes Wind Ensemble the best because of its higher standard of musical talent, coupled with the fact that Robert enjoys being part of the band. Robert’s favorite thing about FHS is the teachers’ dedication to their students. His favorite teacher is Mr. Vliek, because, in Robert’s words, “He’s helped me push myself up to become a better musician, and he plays the best instrument ever: TROMBONE!” Mr. Vliek returned the compliment by nominated Robert and saying, “He might be one of my favorite students ever. He is friendly and polite to both staff and students because that is his personality. He is an excellent example of the best of the FHS student body. He really works hard to do his best work.” His World History teacher from his sophomore year, Mrs. Thomas, said, “I haven’t had him as a student in two years but he still comes to say hi’ and talk to me. I am very con dent he will achieve all of his goals in life!” For what his friends think of him, one said, “Rob is an amazing guy and a great friend. He is always nice and in a good mood, [and] he’s always a delight to be around.” After high school, Robert plans on continuing his schooling in musical education at Rochester College. When he was asked how he felt about being nominated Student of the Week, Robert said, “I feel honored.” If you see Robert walking through the hallways, make sure to congratulate him for being such a stellar student and achieving greatness within his community. Congrats Robert!

Fowlerville Tennis Team places fourth at league tournament The Fowlerville Girls Tennis Team nished 4th at the CAAC Red Tournament held May 11 at Haslett. This nish, coupled with the regular season results, leaves the Glads in 4th place overall. Earning honorable mention All Conference ( nishing 4th) was Paige Helms in the 2nd singles, Emily Harper in the 3rd singles, Whitney Myers/Cecelia Bronsberg in the 3rd doubles, and Nicole Winicki/Elana Gonzalez in the 4th doubles.

season, beating Lansing Eastern The Lady Glads beat Lansing Eastern 2-0 to get their rst victory of the season. It was Senior Night and a win was necessary. The rst goal came with 6 minutes left to play in the rst half from a free kick from Sarah Van Wynen. The Lady Glads controlled the majority of the play during the entire game, but struggled to nish. Finally, goal number two came with a few minutes left in the game from senior captain Hannah Hegberg. Ashley Shooter controlled the defensive line squashing anything that was a threat. * * *The Girls Varsity Soccer team fell 0-2 to Lansing Catholic Central. The Cougars led the Gladiators 0-1 at halftime. Second half got underway and the Lady Glads started to put more pressure on the Cougars, but couldn’t create any solid goal scoring opportunities. Lansing Catholic put another one in to end the game. Brooke Donal played well in net, keeping the Gladiators in the game with some great saves.

Committee It has been nearly 5 years since the opening day of Lutz

park. On that day we introduced many residents to the park, but we’d now like to reintroduce those residents and many others to the natural beauty of the park and the recreational improvements that we have made over time. Come celebrate community and the environment with

the Livingston County Park Advisory Committee at: Lutz County Park on Saturday, June 1st from 11-3pm. Alexandria’s Nature Bus 11-1p.m.-- Alexandria’s Nature Bus is run by Howell Conference and Nature Center and will be at Lutz Get Together from 11-1pm. Families will be able to get up close to birds of prey and learn more about the environment from their fantastic interpretive staff. The animals are residents of their rehabilitation center and are very comfortable around people. Bee Keeping-- Tim and Kathy Bennett and family own and

Township. The farm is fully operational and offers some of the best quality meats around. If raising livestock doesn’t keep them busy enough they also practice the art of bee keeping and even offer classes. Michigan Barn Preservation Network-- Barns provoke memories or visions of a simpler time. Fowlerville graduate commissioned 2nd Lieutenant is U.S. Air Force On May 2, 2013 James DeNoyer, son of Brian and Stacia DeNoyer of Howell, Michigan was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the United State Air Force. The ceremonies took place at the Of cer’s Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base Montogomery, Alabama. James is a 2004 Fowlerville High School graduate and a 2012 graduate of Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology as a commercial pilot. He has been assigned to Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Texas for undergraduate pilot training.

OF THE VILLAGE OF WEBBERVILLE CODE OF ORDINANCES

The Village of Webberville ordains: Section 1. Code adopted.Pursuant to the provisions of the Stille-DeRossett-Hale Single State Construction Code Act, Public Act No. 230 of 1972 (MCL 125.1501 et seq.), the Michigan State Construction Code is hereby adopted by ref-erence.Section 2. References in code.References in the Michigan State Construction Code to “State” and “Michigan” shall mean the State of Mich-igan; references to “municipality” shall mean the Vil-lage of Webberville; references to “local ordinances” shall mean ordinances of the Village of Webberville

Boy Scout Troop 333 honors three who earn rank of Eagle Scouts Fowlerville Boy Scout Troop 333 is recognizing the three young men that made it to the rank of Eagle Scout. Justin Jabara, who just nished his sophomore year at MSU, Lyman Briggs College achieved the highest scouting rank in 2011 with a soccer related project. While he was the goal keeper of the High School varsity team he erected, with the help of the community, a ag mast at the varsity soccer eld. John Russo, who is a High School senior this year, com-pleted his Eagle project in 2012. He, assisted by his father Rich Russo (assistant scout master), his friends and the Boy Scout troop 333 under leadership of Scoutmaster Jim Jabara, restored the historic Eisele Cemetery near Bull Run Road. The cemetery was in great disarray with the head stones in big chunks on the ground. A new foundation was created for each broken gravestone and the huge granite blocks were carefully put together in their original shape. On a chilly January Sunday earlier this year the whole team including younger scouts Jeff Williamson and Jamie Jabara drove to inner city Detroit to completely rebuild the handicap ramp of a charity called World Medical Relief. This project was approved to be the Eagle Scout project for Jordan Jabara, who is also a Fowlerville High School senior. The community of Fowlerville has bene ted greatly from the services of the Boy Scout troop 333. For years the scouts and their parents diligently assisted with the Red Cross Blood Drive, carrying the truckload of equipment and supplies up the stairs of the Fowlerville Methodist Church

He was a veteran of the US Army in WWII and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church where he was an usher. Jim was a barber and avid golfer, bowler, baseball fan and gardener. Surviving are his 5 daughters: Janis (James) Orleman of Canton, June (Frank) Maurer of Fowlerville, Linda (Garry) Dolecki of Williamston, Donna Stitt of Dearborn Heights and Gina (Kevin) Newell of Dexter, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Grace and son- in-law: Daniel Stitt, 2 brothers and 6 sisters. Jean Russo, John Russo’s mother, credits the successful scouting career of the boys to the inspirational leadership of Scoutmaster Jim Jabara, who is also an Eagle Scout. “Only 4% of all boy scouts make it to Eagle and thefact that one small troop produced three is amazing”, she says. The scouts say that they will forever remember the fun they had together while hiking, canoeing, swimming and the summer trips to Camp Hiawatha in the UP.

Equestrian Therapeutic Riding Program The horses at the Wylie Farm are getting ready for this summer’s therapeutic riding program. Classes start June 4th

and run through July 18th every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Tuesday we need approximately thirty volunteers and Thursday we need approximately fteen volunteers. There will be no classes the week of July 4th. All volunteers need to attend our Orientation on May 30, 2013 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Wylie Farm at 5450 Emmons Road, Fowlerville. No experience with horses is necessary, but you must be 14 or older to assistance with this program and have the experience of a lifetime. When you become a volunteer your heart will be lled with warm smiles from watching and helping these riders grow and learn by riding horses. Come help teach balance, con dence, strength, and exibility to our riders. At the same time you’ll get the satisfaction of knowing how much you are helping these young riders learn self-con dence.
