The Mass Readings for The Week of May 3, 2020 Thoughts along the way Fr. Christopher Decker

Happy Easter! Do you have trouble remembering what day it is? I know I do. It seems as if we’ve been sequestered for years instead of a month or so! I’ve been staying busy with live-streaming the Holy Mass each day on our webpage and on social media as well as Night Prayer each weekday evening. While there is administrative work to be done, I feel like I’m working harder than I have in quite a few years! I hope that you also all know that Fr. Amrit and I are keeping all of you in prayer each day as we offer Mass for your intentions. We also both pray that the scourge of this virus will soon be over so that we can resume parish life together. You’ve no doubt heard about the extension of the Stay-at-Home protocol in the state of Louisiana. As of this writing churches are not yet able to be opened for pub-lic liturgical celebrations, so we are still waiting on timelines and guidance from Bishop Duca and govern-ment officials. In the meantime, Fr. Amrit and I are con-sidering what this will look like and making plans to prepare. For the time being, we will continue to offer Mass privately in our rectories and I will continue to make the stream available indefinitely. Hopefully, in time, you will be able to fill the parking lots and eventu-ally even return to the inside of the church! Believe me, we will be ready to welcome you! Until let us continue to pray for each other. Pax Christi,

The 4th Sunday of Easter is traditionally Good Shep-herd Sunday. We talk about the care the God gives us, the care that Jesus promises, care that the Spirit provides. And, of course, we read the 23rd Psalm. May this time of prayer and reflection bless you with the assurance of God’s love and care for you.
