Prayer of Confession (Inspired by Psalm 80)

Shepherd of Israel, we have turned away from you, neglecting the welfare

of your creation, ignoring the plight of your people, trampling on the

creatures and the plants you have made, taking from Earth what we

cannot give back. We have not helped our neighbors in need, kept peace

within our families, or tended the vine you have planted in our own lives.

Forgive us and lead us to a more gracious life. In your compassion, turn us

to your way. Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; let your face shine upon us,

and we shall be saved. Amen.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will

be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us

our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into

temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the

glory, forever. Amen.

Recognition of Betsy Aho

as Newly Licensed Minister

Questions for the Newly Licensed Minister

Do you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ your Savior, acknowledge him Lord of all

and Head of the Church, and through him believe in one God, Father, Son and

Holy Spirit?

Do you promise to further the peace, unity, and purity of the church?

Will you seek to serve the people with energy, intelligence, imagination and

love?

Question for the Congregation

Do we, the members of The Peoples Church, accept Betsy as a Licensed Minis-

ter in this place and agree to encourage her and support her as she grows in

ministry, serving Jesus Christ who alone is Head of the Church?

We do.
