The New Pastor has been appointed.

I am happy to inform you that Archbishop Cardinal Daniel DiNardo has appointed Father Lawrence W. Jozwiak J.C.L., new pastor of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish effective July 1st, 2020. Fr. Lawrence is currently Pastor/Rector of Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral in Houston. He has served at the Metropolitan Tribunal as Judicial Vicar for many years. He is also teaching Canon Law at St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston.

Fr. Lawrence Jozwiak is a well-known and respected priest of the Archdiocese. I have known him since we were studying at St. Mary’s Seminary in the 80’s. He was ordained a priest in 1987. A little secret I know: before entering the Seminary, he was an accountant!

Please pray for Fr. Jozwiak and myself as we are preparing for our transitions!

All is for God’s Glory, and we love you all. Amen. Fr. John Kha Tran

An Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the  Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You  into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.  I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.  Amen.

PRAYER IN A TIME OF PANDEMIC O God of compassion, your people are anxious in this time of pan-demic. Send your Holy Spirit among us to dispel our fears. We cry out to you in our confusion; comfort us in our affliction. Grant our leaders wisdom to guide us. Strengthen and sustain those who are ill, and be with those who care for them. Help us to travel this road in solidarity with our neighbors, with our eyes fixed on the salvation promised us through the death and resurrec-tion of your Son, who is Lord forever and ever. Amen. STAY WITH US, LORD Walk with us, Lord,

along the road of resurrection! Explain for us, so slow to believe,

the things that Scripture says of you. Break the bread of the Eucharist with us

whenever we share our lives with our brothers and sisters.

and the daylight fades in our hearts! —From Come, Lord Jesus by Lucien Deiss, CSSp, copyright © 1976,

EASTER SUNDAYOF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD MAY 3, 2020

Fourth Sunday of Easter / May 3, 2020 He himself bore our sins in his body upon the cross, so that, free from sin,

we might live for righteousness. — 1 Peter 2:24a

Online Weekly Offertory Giving As Catholics, we believe that all we have is a gift from God. Our response in faith is to offer these gifts back to God in gratitude. With gifts of prayer, we pray for our nation, Church and our parishes. With gifts of treasure, we support our parishes even when we cannot be there in person. Each gift is extremely appreciated and will sup-port our parish bills, outreach efforts, as well as the staff and their families. 3 Ways for you to give to our parish: 1. Online at FaithDirect.net; You may easily sched-ule a monthly offertory; or make a one-time dona-tion to St. Maximilian Kolbe Church using Faith Di-rect; our parish code is TX625 2. Deliver envelopes with cash or checks to the parish office during office hours. 3. Mail checks (do not mail cash) to the parish of-fice: St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church; 10135 West Road, Houston, TX 77064.

OUR PARISH DEBT Original Loan, October 2010: $5,200,000 Amount to be paid: $173,052.00

We offer our prayers for our priests, especially during this crisis.

Heavenly Father, grant that our priests

be strengthened and healed by the power

of the Eucharist they celebrate. May the Word they proclaim

give them courage and wisdom. We pray that all those

whom they seek to serve may see in them

the love and care of Jesus, Our Eternal High Priest,

who is Lord for ever and ever. Mary, Mother of the Church,

look tenderly upon your sons, our priests. St Joseph,

Patron of the Universal Church, pray for us all. Amen.
