Help us keep Catholic education within reach!

Since 1971, Inner-City Scholarship Fund has changed lives for the better by providing thousands of families with demonstrable financial needs the opportunity to give their children a quality, values-based K-12 Catholic education within the Archdiocese of New York. The impact a Catholic school education has on a child’s future is astonishing: 98% of high school seniors graduate, and 96% pursue higher education. And just as importantly, students learn values that last a lifetime! In celebration of this year’s Catholic Schools Week (January 25-31), we hope you will take a moment to learn more on how you can keep a deserving child’s goals well within reach by contacting Kelvin Gentles at (646) 794-3328 or by visiting www.InnerCityScholarshipFund.org. Archdiocese of New York 2015 Men's Conference The Archdiocese of New York Men's Commission is hosting the First Annual Men's Conference on Saturday, Mary 21st at the Fordham Rose Hill campus. With over 500 expected to attend, this daylong event will provide a unique opportunity for men throughout the Archdiocese to recommit themselves to their spiritual lives. The speakers will include HIs Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, Damon Owens, a renowned public speaker and strong proponent of the Catholic faith, and Joe Klecko, former all-star New York Jets defensive lineman. Admission is $45 and includes breakfast, lunch, and t-shirt. To register or for more information, visit www.nymensconference.com or call Kim Quatela at 646 794-3198. Registration begins January 15th - spaces are limited, so act fast! Camp Veritas 2015: is an excellent experience for catholic boys & girls run by the Archdiocese. Hundreds of kids go. ITALY CHOIR TRIP

The St. Barnabas Festival Choir is made up of students in grades 4 through 12 from St. Barnabas Elementary, High School and Parish. The High School students from the parish and High School last year took part in the New York High School Choir Festival in Manhattan and did very well. From that venue the choirs have been invited to travel to Rome to sing for Pope Francis. Some highlights of the trip will be singing in the Papal Audience Hall and joining with the Sistine Chapel Choir to sing the Epiphany Mass on January 6, 2016. This is both an honor and a once in a life time opportunity. We currently are the only New York Choir participating. The cost for each student is 3,000 dollars. Our choir will be fundraising to help defer the cost. We currently have several young people who wish to go but are having financial difficulty. If you can help sponsor a child by donating part of all of the cost please contact Sharon Traditi at the High School or Religious Education Office or Shauna Mahoney at the Rectory. Contributions can remain anonymous if you would like to remain anonymous please let us know at the time. Any support you can give our youth is greatly appreciated. Saint Barnabas Men’s Group Join them for coffee and lively discussions on our Catholic faith on Saturday mornings from 9:00am to 10:00am Room 1-6 in the Considine Center. All men in their 20-40s are welcome to attend. Contact Ben Smith at [email protected]

PRO LIFE CORNER

I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is "Abortion", because it is a war against the child... A direct killing of the innocent child, "Murder" by the mother herself... And if we can accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love... And we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts... - Mother Teresa
