Vritika 2019 November 15 , 2019 Affiliated to GGSIP University, New Delhi Journalists awarded, young media aspirants appreciated at Vritika-2019 Four Journalists bag ‘Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi Award’ for Value-based Journalism Mr. Sanjio Singh, after receiving the award said, “I am very impressed by the theme #media4cause. It's very important for the current scenario.” He further said, “Technology has brought the media forward, but it's the moral values that are really important to present valuable content to the community.” Other awardees too extended their gratitude and urged the young aspirants of journalism to make maximum use of college teaching for their career goals. Hon'ble Mr Justice Bhanwar Singh, Director General, DME, pointed out the importance of teamwork and applauded the hard work and dedication put into the event. The occasion was electrified by cultural performances. Bhangra and Bollywood dance were performed with great energy. Awards were distributed to winners from various th th competitions of Vritika 2019 that were held on 14 and 15 November. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Manmeet Kaur, Assistant Professor, DME Media School. Festival Director, Prof (Dr) Susmita Bala, appreciated the efforts of students in making the fest successful. Festival Advisor Prof (Dr) Ambrish Saxena, Dean, DME Media School, greeted the gathering and shared his intentions of broadening the horizons of the fest in the future. Dr Ravikant Swami, Director, DME, mentioned the importance of such functions in boosting the morale of achievers. The major highlight of the fest was the valedictory ceremony, which celebrated the true spirit of compassionate journalism, by honouring four eminent faces of the media world- Dr Sanjio Singh, News Editor- In charge Market Mantra, News Services Division, All India Radio; Ms Peenaz Tyagi, Senior Anchor/Editor, News Nation; Ms Deepti Sachdeva, Senior broadcast journalist and Anchor and Mr Pradeep Tiwari, Assistant Editor, The Pioneer Hindi newspaper- with the prestigious 'Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi Award' for Value-based Journalism for their contributions toward religious harmony and their relentless work for social causes. Continuing the tradition of providing an academically and culturally stimulating atmosphere, the two-day media fest of DME Media School, Vritika 2019 was organised on November 14-15, 2019 on the DME campus. Storytelling

The young vibrant storytellers came forth with wonderful tales, fascinating each viewer. The stories were

judged on the basis of expression, confidence, diction and presentation skills. The genres in the event

included witnessing a crime scene, fantasies into reality, heartbreak, young romance and paranormal

activities.

Students from around Delhi-NCR participated in the competition to exhibit their vocal skills, confidence

and spontaneity through their performances. The topics ‘Will advancement in Technology increase

employment’, ‘Cheerleading should be a sport’, ‘Voting should be compulsory’ and ‘Violent Video games

are making people violent in real life’ were given on the spot.

Topics- Environment, Child labour, Equal work- equal wages, Cleanliness, Cosmetic product, FMCG

product, Consumer awareness, Organ donation, Political campaign, Tourism of any destination- were

given to the participants on the spot. The participation resulted in a neck-to-neck competition with

the inventiveness of the contestants.

Showcasing the young talented voices, the anchor hunt witnessed amazing presentation from the

participants. After presenting the random topics, participants were given a common topic ‘Music show

host’ by the judges to witness more of their talent. The event focused on the participants’ skills of

presenting themselves in front of the audience.
