VOCAL INTENSIVE FOR BEGINNERS AUGUST  6-­‐9:  11:00-­‐5:00PM   Day 1 11:00am-12:00pm – Greetings - General Introduction - The Groundwork - Basic anatomy overview - Stretches - Useful breathing exercises 12:00-12:30pm – Tapping into our singing voice and complete vocal warm-up - Introducing the hum, siren and bubble slide - General warm-up exercises 12:30-1:00pm – Group singing activity 1 1:00-2:00pm – LUNCH BREAK 2:00-2:30pm – Singing the major scale - Ascending, descending and singing the intervals starting from the root - Ear Training 1 – intervals – recognizing the Maj3rd and major triad 2:30-3:30pm – REPERTOIRE: - Introducing a standard in Maj. - Learn the melody and basic chord changes - A look at interpretation and the meaning of lyrics 3:30-4:00pm – What is non-verbal communication? - Group singing activity 2 over a Maj. chord vamp 4:00-4:30pm – The roots of singing - Brief history and general timeline - Brief look at genres and styles 4:30-5:00pm – Wrapping it up Day 11:00-11:30am – Morning vocal activity - Posture and breath - Alexander’s core strengthening exercise - Breathing exercises 11:30am-12:00pm – Vocal warm-up - Introducing vowel sounds
