About ACM•The Association for Computing Machinery, or ACM, was founded in 1947 as the world's first scientific and educational computing society. Its membership was approximately 83,000 as of 2007. Its headquarters are in New York City.

•ACM is organized into over 170 local chapters and 34 Special Interest Groups (SIGs), through which it conducts most of its activities. Additionally, there are over 500 college and university chapters.

•Many of the SIGs, like SIGGRAPH, SIGPLAN and SIGCOMM, sponsor regular conferences which have become famous as the dominant venue for presenting new innovations in certain fields. The groups also publish a large number of specialized journals, magazines, and newsletters.

•ACM also sponsors other computer science related events such as the worldwide ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), and has sponsored some other events such as the chess match between Garry Kasparov and the IBM Deep Blue computer.

Chapters are the "local neighborhoods" of ACM. Our Professional and Student chapters worldwide serve as nodes of activity for ACM members and the computing community at large, offering seminars, lectures, and the opportunity to meet peers and experts in many fields of interest. Chapter Strategy/Mission Statement To help the fellows and colleagues in creating new bench marks in their career also inspiring power within them for doing greater benefit to their community. Bringing computing benefit to all its users .

Chapter Goals1.To raise the standard of the technical competence in all the students members of the chapter. Keeping in touch with the next evolving trends in computing and associated technology.

2.To help its members and its associated community and college in all aspects related to computing and troubleshooting .

3.To help the students make the correct career choices in computing and encourage them to help others to achieve the same with their knowledge gained, fostering better relationship with the faculty, students and its patrons. 4.To leverage the chapter synergies to bring in better participation of industry programmes , case studies and latest technologies at the college or the industry .
