Preview Foundation Stone #7: Laying on Hands

1. Christians lay hands on one another just to bless.

2. God has always used the laying on of hands to commission people for special service to Him.

3. When Christians are sent out, hands are laid on them.

4. The hands of Jesus bless many, even though pierced.

5. God, the Father, is forever reaching out, waiting for us.

Numbers 27:22,23 Moses did as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua and had him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole assembly. Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as the LORD instructed through Moses.

Deuteronomy 34:9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses.

They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.

Acts 13:2,3 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made and your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. Leviticus 9:22 Then Aaron lifted his hands toward the people and blessed them. And having sacrificed the sin offering, the burnt offering and the fellowship offering, he stepped down. I Timothy 2:8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.

I Timothy 5:21-22 I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism. Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.
