Q1:

What did Jesus do when He wanted to bless and heal and change people?

Q1: What did Jesus do when He wanted

to bless and heal and change people?

A1: He laid His hands on them.

R1: Mark 10:13-16 and Luke 5:12,13

Mark 10:13-16 People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

Luke 5:12,13 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" And immediately the leprosy left him.

Q2:

From ancient times, how has God passed on blessings and commissioned leaders of His people?

Q2: From ancient times, how has God

passed on blessings and commissioned leaders of His people?

A2: By the laying on of hands of the priests.

R2: Numbers 8:10,11, Numbers 27:22,23 and

Deuteronomy 34:9

Numbers 8:10,11 You are to bring the Levites before the LORD, and the Israelites are to lay their hands on them. Aaron is to present the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the Israelites, so that they may be ready to do the work of the LORD.

Numbers 27:22,23 Moses did as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua and had him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole assembly. Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as the LORD instructed through Moses.

Deuteronomy 34:9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses.

Q3:

How are Christians put into positions, commissioned, and sent out from their churches?

Q3: How are Christians put into positions,

commissioned, and sent out from their churches?

A3: By the laying on of hands of the elders.

R3: Acts 6:3-6 and Acts 13:2,3

Acts 6:3-6 Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word." This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit and also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.

Acts 13:2,3 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.

Q4:

Why are the hands of Jesus special to us?

Q4: Why are the hands of Jesus special to us?

A4: First, because He will touch us with love and power. Second, because His hands were pierced for us. Third, because all power in heaven and earth is now in His hands.

R4: Matthew 8:2,3; John 3:35,36; Psalm 22:16 and John 20:25-27

Matthew 8:2,3 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cured of his leprosy.

John 3:35,36 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him.”

Psalm 22:16 Dogs have surrounded me and a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet.

John 20:25-27 So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it." A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."

Q5:

When a child comes home after time away, what is his/her loving father doing?

Q5: When a child comes home after time

away, what is his/her loving father doing?

A5: He is reaching out his hands to receive and embrace his precious child.

R5: Romans 10:21; Isaiah 65:1,2; Luke 15:20

Romans 10:21 But concerning Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people."

Isaiah 65:1,2 "I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me and I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, 'Here am I, here am I.' All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations.

Luke 15:20 So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him and he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

Q6:

How was I formed?

Q6: How was I formed?

A6: I was planned from the beginning of time then wonderfully formed by the hands of God in my mother's womb.

R6: Genesis 2:7; Acts 17:24,25; Psalm 119:73 and Psalm 139:13-16

Genesis 2:7 the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Acts 17:24,25 "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.

Psalm 119:73 Your hands made me and formed me and give me understanding to learn your commands.

Psalm 139:13-16 For you created my inmost being and you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made and your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Q7:

Who is the Potter and who is the clay?

Q7: Who is the Potter and who is the clay?

A7: God is the Potter and we are the clay in His hands.

R7: Job 10:8,9; Isaiah 45:9-12; Jeremiah 18:1-

6

Job 10:8,9 "Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me? Remember that you molded me like clay. Will you now turn me to dust again? Jeremiah 18:1-6 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: "Go down to the potter's house, and there I will give you my message." So I went down to the potter's house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands and so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Then the word of the LORD came to me: "O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD. "Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

Isaiah 45:9-12 "Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker, to him who is but a potsherd among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, 'What are you making?' Does your work say, 'He has no hands'? "This is what the LORD says— the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: Concerning things to come, do you question me about my children, or give me orders about the work of my hands? It is I who made the earth and created mankind upon it. My own hands stretched out the heavens and I marshaled their starry hosts.

Q8:

What else have the hands of God done?

Q8: What else have the hands of God done?

A8: So many things: from laying the foundation of the earth to circumcising our hearts in water baptism.

R8: Luke 23:46; Colossians 2:11-12; Hebrews 1:10; Psalm 95:3-8; Psalm 102:25

Luke 23:46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.

Colossians 2:11-12 In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ, having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.

Hebrews 1:10 He also says, "In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

Psalm 95:3-8 For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. 6Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker and for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts

Psalm 102:25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

Q9:

How should we use our hands in worship?

Q9: How should we use our hands in worship?

A9: We are told to lift our hands in praise, spread our hands in prayer, and clap our hands in celebration of God's greatness.

R9: Isaiah 1:15-18; Psalm 47:1 and I Timothy

Isaiah 1:15-18 When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you and even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood and wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Stop doing wrong, learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow. "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow and though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Psalm 47:1 Clap your hands, all you nations and shout to God with cries of joy.

Leviticus 9:22 Then Aaron lifted his hands toward the people and blessed them. And having sacrificed the sin offering, the burnt offering and the fellowship offering, he stepped down. I Timothy 2:8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.

I Timothy 5:21-22 I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism. Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.

Q10:

Why did God give us hands?

Q10: Why did God give us hands?

A10: To work. From the beginning until today, God wants us to work with our hands and to not be lazy.

12; Proverbs and Acts 20:34-37

I Thessalonians 4:11-12 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

I Corinthians 4:12 We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless and when we are persecuted, we endure it;

Proverbs 6:10,11 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.

Proverbs 10:4 Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

Proverbs 12:14 From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things as surely as the work of his hands rewards him.

Proverbs 12:24 Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor.

Proverbs 21:25 The sluggard's craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work.

Acts 20:34-37 You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' " When he (Paul) had said this, he knelt down with all of them and prayed. They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him.

Q11:

What kind of relationship does God want us to have-reverent or intimate?

Q11: What kind of relationship does God want us to have-reverent or intimate?

Song of Songs 1:2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth— for your love is more delightful than wine.

Song of Songs 2:6 His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.

Luke 7:37-48 When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner." Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much.

Q12:

What does God want us to do each other?

Q12: What does God want us to do each

Isaiah 35:3-6 Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way and say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear and your God will come, he will come with vengeance and with divine retribution he will come to save you." Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.

I Corinthians 16:20 and II Corinthians 13:12 and I Thessalonians 5:26 and Romans 16:16

Greet one another with a holy kiss.
