Climate Changes in Korea

2

Slowly changing temperature climate to subtropical climate

Southern sea temperature of Korea has been risen by 2°C over the last 30 yearsIn 2100, temperature is expected to rise by 4°C and rainfall by 20%.

Korea was ranked 10th among the largest CO2 emissions countries

Korea will implement the “Kyoto Protocol” compulsorily during the second commitment period (2013~2017)

TTA has launched “Green ICT standard activities” in order to implement the strategy

1) TTA ICT & CC Standard Advisory GroupDeveloping TTA standards (Checklist for energy saving, Terminology and Correlation conception of ICT and environment)

2) ICT/Environment Standardization ForumDeveloping de facto standardsAnalyzing and studying Green ICT technology

* Korea ITU committee has set “ICT & Climate Change Sub-Committee” in December 2008
