What is a fossil
A fossil is the preserved remains of something that has been alive (a living organism).
How a fossil is formed
A fossil is formed when a living organism dies and it is covered with layers and layers of sediment.
• Tectonic plates move and bring the fossils up to the surface.
Erosion wears away the rock so you can see the fossil
What fossils can tell us…
