1. I am a volunteer Ambassador for the Center for Transforming Lives in Tarrant County. Formerly the

YWCA, the organization gives women, families and children the tools they need to go from poverty to

independence. We do this through offering safe housing, early childhood development and financial

empowerment. I am passionate about the organization because it is a complete program that assists the whole

family. It breaks the cycle of poverty, not only through supporting the mother, but also through educating the

children, parents and giving them a firm foundation for the future.

I and two other volunteers, Elizabeth Teeters and Stephanie Usher, enjoy speaking with groups about the

Center. We thought your organization might be interested in hearing from us. If Fort Worth Education

Association would like for us to present at one of you meetings, I would appreciate hearing from you. You can

reach me through email or by calling 817-232-5952. If I do not answer, please leave a message. I look forward

them cleaned first.

Internal Audit Committee Report

Committee Chair: Dora Sergeant

Meeting Date: 2018-05-08

Meeting Location: Polytechnic United Methodist Church

Participants: Dora Sergeant, Pamela Miller, Bridgette Garrett, DeeDee Thompson Summary of Committee Activities: Detailed Audit Report The Internal Audit Committee completed a review of the financial records of the Fort Worth Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for the third quarter period of January 1, 2018 to March 31, 2018. The review included a random sampling of disbursements, receipts, deposits and 100% of membership dues collected during the period. The initial review was completed on May 8, 2018. A summary of the major findings, details and recommendations are listed below; Finding #1: The testing of disbursements showed that 1 check out of 39 tested (less than 1% of the sample), showed there was no voucher or documentation present. a. Check #8888 to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc – there is no voucher and no documentation. Recommendation #1: The chapter policies and procedures dictate that all disbursements must have an accompanying voucher and documentation. In the instance where no invoice or statement exists to support the documentation, utilization of the chapter minutes with the approval highlighted will be sufficient. Emails can also be used as approval documentation for the disbursement. Finding #2: The testing of receipts and deposits revealed that 3 of 30 receipts tested (10% of the sample) did not meet the 2-business day requirement. a. Three deposits dated 1/6/18 per Financial Secretary log were not deposited until 1/10/18. Recommendation #2: The chapter policies and procedures dictate that all Deposits shall be made within 2 business days of receipt of funds in accordance with Grand Chapter’s Bonding Insurance coverage. Finding #3: The testing of dues for the period showed that 1 of 151 dues tested (less than 1% of the sample) did not agree. a. Per Financial Secretary records Avis Davis paid dues on 4/14/18, however the Treasurer’s report shows Soror Davis’ dues were transmitted to National on 3/27/18. There is a discrepancy between the records of the Treasurer and the Financial Secretary on dates. Recommendation #3: Dues should not be transmitted to Grand Chapter prior to receipt by Financial Secretary. Grand Chapter funds must be deposited within 30 days of receipt as per page 8 of the National Fiscal Officers manual. After review by the Chapter Internal Audit Committee or their designee, it has been determined that the chapter has satisfactory financial internal controls and the review supports the existence and utilization of these controls. The audit data will be uploaded to the Red Zone and signed by the Internal Audit Committee Chair and the President and submitted to Nationals by May 31, 2018, satisfying the compliance deadline of June 1, 2018. This report is for information only and shall be filed with chapter records. Jabberwock Committee Report

Five-Point Programmatic Thrust Category: Education Development

Meeting Date: 2018-04-14

Meeting Location: Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum

Participants: Jabberwock Committee and FWA members, Jabberwock participants, escorts, family and friends

Summary of Committee Activities: The 2018 Miss Jabberwock Presentation was held Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum. Our theme this year was the “Magic and Mystique of Jabberwock: A Masquerade Ball”. The theme was perfect this year as the room was truly full of magic and mystique; from the decorations and entertainment, to the eight beautiful participants in their white ball gowns accompanied by escorts, celebrating with family and friends, all adorned in decorated masks. The evening culminated with Miss Chloe Blackmon –Slater crowned as Miss Jabberwock 2018. We were fortunate enough to sell 209 tickets, including approximately 95 that were purchased and\or sold by FWA Alumnae members. All the participants received a scholarship, ranging from a little less than $500 to $10,000. A $4000 anonymous donation was received, with the stipulation that it be used for scholarships. The Committee voted to award Miss Jabberwock 2018 a $1000 scholarship; and award $1000 scholarships to the next three (3) Miss Jabberwock winners, until the funds have been exhausted. Thirty-six evaluations were returned, with the overall experience rated as 89%, good or excellent. In addition, entertainment, decorations and venue received minimum ratings of at least 86%, good or excellent. Since we asked everyone to come in masks we thought it would be fitting to have a small competition for best mask. We awarded 3 guests with a gift card and two tickets to Jubilee Theatre. The Jabberwock Committee would like to thank everyone that purchased a ticket, ad, or gave a donation in support of 2018 Miss Jabberwock Presentation.
