Your Delegates are back from AORN Con- gress where Collaboration was the theme. It was noted in one Congress education session that If health care was an airline, only dedicated risk takers, thrill seekers, and those tired of living would fly on it.It is imperative that we collaborate with our peers in order to make sure our patients are safe. Please read the delegates re- ports for more information on the education sessions they attended. Our Chapter was awarded a Bronze Award for Chapter Excellence in the intermediate size category. Many, many thanks to all who participated in the 2011-2012 year activities. They say it takes a village….but Krista Johnson worked tirelessly to have our chapter recognized for all the work we have done. Thank you, Krista, for your leadership in our organization. Check out our webpage for pictures, www.AORNFWTX.org. The state of Texas was the only state to have 2 Chapter Excellence Awards. The Austin Chapter won the Silver Award in the same category. Congratulations to Austin! Many nurses have asked why Congress isnt held in Texas. I have asked that question to the Board of Directors and hope to get an answer soon. The Con- gress locations have been announced through 2018, with Texas not being on the list. There will be many changes to Congress next year and probably in the years to come. To start, Pre-Congress Education sessions will most likely be changed to Post-Congress. Congress will start on Saturday, March 29 through April 3. Hotel reservations are available now on-line at AORN.org. Information will be in your AORN Journal and the website. I hope you will come to our Thursday, March 28, meeting and education session. Mike Russell from Steris will speak to us on Toxic Anterior Segment Syndrome (TASS). Looking forward to seeing you there!
