The Committee o f th e F ort S t r e e t High School Old G ir ls Union h as much p le a su r e in p r e se n t in g to i t s members the tw e n ty -fo u r th Annual Report fo r th e year en d in g Harch 1944.

The L ite r a r y C ir c le , a s u b -s o c ie ty o f th e U nion, w i l l p r e se n t i t s own rep ort a t t h i s g e n e r a l m ee tin g .
I t had p r e v io u s ly been d ec id ed th atoow ln g to war c o n d it io n s , th e Union sh ou ld tem p o ra r ily c u r t a i l i t s a c t i v i t i e s . However we were a b le to arrange s e v e r a l fu n c t io n s d u rin g t h e 'y e a r . Two "Games A fternoons" were h e ld a t th e sch o o l and a t one o f th e se Mrs. Palmer gave us a v ery I n t e r e s t in g ta lk on Fanning I s la n d . In J u ly a th e a tr e p arty was h e ld a t th e Vacuum O il Company T h e a te tte and proved very e n te r t a in in g .
A lthough M iss C ru ise , Our new P atron , has been unable to tak e an a c t iv e P art in our a f f a i r e owing to i l l n e s s , the P r e s id e n t and S e c r e ta r ie s have k ep t her in tou ch w ith th e a c t i v i t i e s o f th e Union. 'I e are a l l v ery p le a se d , how ever, to hear th a t her h e a lth has c o n s id e r a b ly im proved.
Once again we were a b le to send a d o n a tio n o f £ 2; 2; 0 to th e R achel F o r s te r H o s p ita l . I t i s encou rag in g on r e c e iv in g an acknowledgem ent o f same to know how much a reg u la r d on ation l i k e t h i s i s a p p r e c ia te d by such a worthy i n s t i t u t i o n .
At th e September Committee M eeting i t was su g g ested th a t the Annual D inner be h e ld again but on c o n ta c t in g s e v e r a l le a d in g c a te r e r s i t was found th a t t h i s was im p o s s ib le .
In November and January we h e ld "Beach Days" a t N orth S te y n e , M anly. On th e f i r s t o c ca s io n th e w eather was u n ce r ta in and n o t as many turned up a s we had hoped, but on th e second o c ca s io n we had an a tten d a n ce o f about 60 w hich in c lu d e d a number o f g i r l s J u st le a v in g sch o o l
To a l l new members we ex ten d a warm welcome and hope th a t th e ir "Old G ir ls" " days w i l l be ju s t a s happy as th o se sp en t a t School and th e ir fr ie n d s h ip s Ju st a s s in c e r e .
