Following our recent purchase of the former Wisley Airfield, Taylor Wimpey is pleased to provide the first of many community newsletters. These represent just one of the many ways we want to communicate with residents and the local community to inform our plans and activities for the site.

Working together to deliver our sustainable development

About usTaylor Wimpey

Taylor Wimpey is one of the largest housebuilders in the UK, creating communities across England, Scotland and Wales. We are passionate about providing high quality homes and understand that development is about more than just providing places to live. We want to create a new sustainable settlement where people can work, exercise, learn and form lasting connections.

We want to take an open and transparent approach. This newsletter is part of a wider plan of engagement to understand what you would like most from the site which has an allocation in the Local Plan, and understanding how we can collectively create a new settlement that we can all be proud of.

VIVID

Taylor Wimpey is working in partnership with VIVID, a leading provider of affordable homes, to deliver our plans for the former Wisley Airfield. The team at VIVID are passionate about building homes to suit everyone’s needs and circumstances and have a wealth of experience providing good quality affordable homes in the south of England.

Community EngagementWe want to work alongside all stakeholders to ensure that this scheme reflects the wants and needs of the surrounding area. We think that with your input we can create something special. To do this we will be undertaking an extensive community consultation programme that will allow you to feed back your comments and thoughts on our proposals.

Due to the current restrictions on social distancing, we are unable to hold face to face public engagement events in the short term. Instead we will be holding online digital consultation events on the 16th and 18th July. For more information and details of how to access the events please visit our website www.wisleyairfield.com.

When possible, we are looking forward to introducing ourselves in person at meetings and presentations to ensure that all members of the community can talk to us about the site and provide feedback.

Transparent approach

We understand that residents throughout Guildford are interested in the future of this site. This is why we want our proposals to represent a fresh start and throughout the process will maintain an open and transparent approach starting from the beginning.

We will also be setting up a neighbour liaison group and a wider community liaison group which will hold regular meetings to discuss dif ferent aspects of the plans in depth and report back to the community. We will be inviting members of the community to join the groups in due course.

Purchasing the siteTaylor Wimpey is thrilled to have completed the purchase of the former Wisley Airfield site, which was allocated for a new settlement in the Guildford Local Plan adopted in 2019. We now have the opportunity to transform this disused site into a new settlement for Guildford where we can create the right type of homes and facilities that can benefit both existing communities and new residents to the community.

As part of our plans we will be creating new affordable homes as well as schools, employment areas, retail opportunities and community facilities.

Example of engagement with local community

SecurityWe have been made aware of reports of ongoing anti-social behaviour on the former Wisley Airfield site. To assist the local authorities with dealing with this matter and help our nearest neighbours to feel safe, we have hired a specialist on-site security team, Kestrel Guards.

The security team will periodically be patrolling the site and entrances to prevent where possible any anti-social behaviour. Should you wish to contact the security team to notify them of an incident then please find their contact details below:

• Kestrel Guards - 24hour Control Room call 02380 666760 or email [email protected]

Please do not approach anyone on the site, instead contact our security team to log an incident and they will do their best to make sure any issues are dealt with appropriately.

Next stepsConsultation
