My formal proposal Title of my magazine- I have chosen the title of my magazine to be ‘Britain’s best’ shortened to BB. I have chosen this because it is short and effective when people say the name. I feel it fits because being ‘Britain’s best’ it shows that it covers a wide range of genre’s and target audiences and is something for everyone. Also naming it ‘Britain’s’ shows that it is a huge magazine and is produced to be the best, and something people will enjoy to read and want to buy each month, I have done it a monthly magazine because a week is too short to get all the top releases in the magazine and also there might not be a strong enough release that will sell my magazine each week, whereas with it being monthly there will be loads of top releases and artists included. Explanation of choice of genre- My choice of genre is pop/rock, for example like Q magazine, which covers a wide range of genres and artists, I have done this because then it is something everyone will be interested in and with it being a mixture of genres each month it lures new people to buy it each month and be entertained by my magazine. I feel that pop/rock is the most popular genre as there are many magazines already covering this, I think it would be hard to get my magazine in the music market but if I include things people want to read then it will become popular. Target audience- The target audience for my magazine is from 16-25, both male and female, this is because people this age will want to read about the top releases and top artists, also they are the age group to go out to clubs and pubs and listen to all different types of genres. I think that any older than 25 people won’t have time to read magazine and won’t be interested about reading about the top artist and looking at when gigs are on. I think that the target audience being for males and females also backs up my idea of the magazine being for everyone. When analysing Q magazine which is going to be similar to mine, I found that most people were aged between 16 and 25, therefore I am basing my magazine on the research I have done. Front page- For my front page I want a medium close up of a female and I want the picture to have low lighting I think that this will look effective because then I will choose a colour for the title and match that with the colour of the main cover line, I think that this makes the title and the main cover line stand out. I then want several other cover lines around the image letting the reader know what is in the magazine, I think if I let the readers know a little bit about what is going on it will make them want to read on encouraging them to buy the magazine.

My formal proposalTitle of my magazine-

I have chosen the title of my magazine to be ‘Britain’s best’ shortened to BB.

Explanation of choice of genre-

My choice of genre is pop/rock, for example like Q magazine, which covers a wide range of genres and artists, I have done this because then it is something everyone will be interested in and with it being a mixture of genres each month it lures new people to buy it each month and be entertained by my magazine. I feel that pop/rock is the most popular genre as there are many magazines already covering this, I think it would be hard to get my magazine in the music market but if I include things people want to read then it will become popular.

Target audience-

The target audience for my magazine is from 16-25, both male and female, this is because people this age will want to read about the top releases and top artists, also they are the age group to go out to clubs and pubs and listen to all different types of genres.

Front page-

For my front page I want a medium close up of a female and I want the picture to have low lighting I think that this will look effective because then I will choose a colour for the title and match that with the colour of the main cover line, I think that this makes the title and the main cover line stand out. I then want several other cover lines around the image letting the reader know what is in the magazine, I think if I let the readers know a little bit about what is going on it will make them want to read on encouraging them to buy the magazine.

Page 2: Formal Proposal

Contents page-

For my contents page I want one main image and then several smaller images, I want the larger image to be the focal point and in the centre of the page, I want the list of features down the one side and they will be numbered and in the same colour as the colour scheme of the magazine, I will also include a subscription advert and an offers box making the readers want to buy it again and again.

Double page spread-

For the double page spread I want to use one whole page as an image, and then have the story opposite it, this is because then the article doesn’t have to be too long and the reader wont get bored, also the images attract readers. I want to have a large headline, along with a by line, a stand first and a drop capital. I think these make the article look professional and interest the reader more, I will use different colours from the fromt page and the contents page because I will be talking about a different story, and this makes my magazine more interesting. I want block colours and bold colours with a dim background bringing the colour out, I think that having a double page spread that looks too full and confusing will put off people from reading it as they want to be able to read it easily.

Photographs-

For the photographs on the front cover I want a medium close up of a female who is going to be a natural expression, taking up most of the front page. I then want her name in the same colour as the title colour, in big letters across the photo. For the contents page I want an image in the centre of the page with a caption and page number, I then want three smaller images underneath it again with captions and page numbers, this will give the reader a taster. For the double page spread I want one of the pages to have an image on and then no more images on the other because the article will be there, I think this then will make the article not look too long and the image is big and the readers can even use it as a poster if needed.
